You know this guy's spends way too much money doing the maintenance and repairs on these cars let alone the aftermarket stuff lol. But they are the best cars.
Badass car bro! I'm trying to gather all the bits to turbo my Mk4 GTI. I have a gt3582 turbo, an intercooler, some of the 3" exhaust piping and some other bits. Still have a lot more to buy. I want to build a custom adapter for the stock manifolds so I can mount the turbo just below the manifold exits. I'm thinking it will spool better than a log type manifold. I'd like to keep the stock intake manifold as well. Going for that sleeper look but I think the turbo whistle out of the 3" exhaust will give me away. I picked a .63 a/r turbine housing for quick boost. I know it's gonna choke the hell out of the top end but I'm not looking to rev more than 5 or 6k. If that turbine housing proves too restrictive I can always change it to .82 or bigger. This car is my daily and intended strictly for the street. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I thin goin .82 is the best option. also, stock manifold won't hold much over like 10-12psi. try to get into a fb group or a forum specific to the vr6 and you can get a large amount of info that will help you on your build. good luck!
greg oleson thank you, I appreciate it. Gonna have more vids loaded up in the near future, including some engine building and other technical stuff. Stay tuned!
Even though I’ve been around cars and working on them since I was a kid, when I saw you use your bare hands to put on that negative terminal my balls went inside me, I’ve always been finicky around batteries lol
i have a 2000 vr6 now, but my dead 2003 1.8t seem to have more pull than the vr6, am i not using the rpms correctly and changing gears to quick hi for canada
@@ReachToVictory the vr6 wasn't made with commuting in mind. And a 12v vr6, like this one, stock for stock cannot beat an s2k unless if it was maybe swapped in a mk2. A 24v however probably would be able to keep up with an s2k
Hey where did you get parts for this. I have 01 gti 12v vr6 and having hard time finding kits that arent 24v. Did you buy everything separate or get a kit.
@@kiddcisco awesome man, it can be a little harder with a 24v but try to get on a fb group. there are usually people parting out projects. you can sometimes pick up some good parts for fairly cheap. just be careful with scammers.
@@haroldgonzalez2328 thanks for the reply. I've got an 02J 5 speed in my soon-to-be vrt golf. I've got a small brace for the bell housing but other than that mine only has a clutch as well. Hopefully she holds well
I bought a 1999 beetle for 500 bucks I got a vr6 swap donor car for 150 bucks Ebay turbo kit budget is 1000 max Any ideas It's a 12v vr from a 2001 Jetta
Can’t even lie to you, you could do the same thing on a 1.8t. If I was to build a vr6 I would make sure it’s spinning everything from 1st to 3rd gear efficiently, but to each there own though…
Ohh know the feeling with my 2000 volkswagen 2.0 bora just with the oil pressure😂 says no oil pressure but my oil pressure gauge tells me around 3 bar of oil press at idle😂
Can you make a list of the parts you used to put this together? I wanna turbo my 12v but its really hard to find parts and i cant find any good forums on it
Gambit Gaming this is a schinmel built block. Search for schimmel performance. I used a cts manifold and an eBay gt45 turbo. The rest of the piping was custom. Make sure you subscribe, I’m gonna be going over a new build in the near future. It might be a good way to see exactly what’s involved.
I have the same car. I want to turbo it. I just can find any turbo kits online. My friend said the ko4 would be my best bet. Considering yours is already turbo I'd love you here your input. I already have the car tuned with a different ecu. Better fuel injectors. And a short ram air intake. Just lmk.
k04 is gonna be too small and there's no off the shelf manifold for it in this application. you're best bet is gonna be something like a cts turbo kit or similar.
@@spacecoupebenz6910 you should come up with a realistic goal of what your looking to make. that way you cn get some numbers on what you'd need to make it.
@@spacecoupebenz6910 a good bang for your buck to start off with would probably be a cts turbo kit. but again, without knowing what your goal is, its kind of hard to tell you
