Dealer wanted $900 to fix this by breaking the the grill to get to those bolts. $40 for the cable. Cost of dealership included the new grill cost. Thanks for the awesome video
This video came in clutch. Ended up using a pry bar covered in a rag (sock) to get enough clearance for my two ratcheting wrenches. Also ended up joining the two cables with some steel wire in the meantime until I can get and install a new front cable
I have the same problem sadly.. I went to two official VW dealers and they told me that they will break the grill. The issue is that I have VW Golf 7.5 uplift and the space looks more less than normal golf 7 and also the adoptive cruise control sensor is on the back of VW sign. I will still try to open with the slim wrench. I hope it opens
Just be very careful and take your time more importantly. This job has to have patience. If you're able to get a slim wrench in there work on both bolts at the same time and not just one at a time. When both are equally loose the hood will give more room
Customer returned and replaced the cable from the box i showed to thw latch. Wasnt able to record that amd im sorry but its really not a bad job but i had to use this method twice. The forst time and the second time the customer brought his car. We chsrged 115 (1 hr) to do it both times and 1/2 hr to replace the cable plus part cost. Was nexted day to us via vw
Came for an oil change and to get my occasional epc and transmission lights checked on but they couldn’t open the god damn hood when I just did ten minutes ago now I have to take apart my dash and pray to god the line broke off the handle not the hood
That was the most annoying 15 min of my life but thank you! . I’ll be cruising around without a grill for easy access to the 10mm bolts till I can find the part .. anyone know where I can find the part?😂
When I replaced this customers, he had to bite the bullet and buy oem from the dealer. He bought it home self instead of our markup over dealer price and I installed it
If its a must to get the hood open . You have one final resort and thats breaking the grill and getting better access to the bolts. Of corse youd have to replace the grill
