Lol “did you go around the neighborhood doing that!?” Man kids keep us humble lol. I’m sure the camera doesn’t pick up the right sounds but based on your description you sound exactly what I was looking for. Nice video.

u seem like a chill dude. Thanks to your step by step instructional video on installing aerofabb rear extension and front splitter, combined with aerofabb's instructional guide, I was able to save on install fees and do it myself. Thanks again !

I did not know that about the 2 different placements for the windshield washer fluid, mine is in fact in that corner where you were explaining why they left that space open. My gti is a 2017, i balive that was the last year of the mk7.0 lol before the mk7.5 came out. I will say iv always appreciated the placement as it is super easy to fill up being that its right up front, its so close to you, no need to bend over while pouring in the washer fluid, its the little things lol. Also, im not sure if they are the same size regardless of wish side its on, but the one in mine at least is huge, and yet u cant really see much of it as it sits pretty low in the engine bay, infact its about as low as it could possibly be, the top of it is a long snout that leads all the way down low in the engine bay ware it then like the hips of a Persian model goes from a tiny narrow spout to a super wide container, i love how its mostly completely hidden since they are such eye sores that ruin the look of any engine bay but also i love how deceptively large it is. Since you cant really see it unless you stick ur head under the hood and look for it down low, it would make you think thatits probably fairly smal, but infact its quit the opposite. it seems never ending. when its filled to the top, its good for the year lol.

Great job Adam. Looks like a smooth install especially with the vacuum hose. Didn’t make the same mistake I did 😂. The iE system looks SO nice, esp with all the CF bits. Car is CLEAN. PS. Hoping our daughters will be just as good as yours and help us with the chores!

I ALWAYS FORGET THAT SMALL VACCUM LINE! I think I ran it a week the first time I had it in before I realized I'd forgot it. What purpose does it serve anyway? Probably nothing, lol. It's strange at this age, they think certain outside work is fun so I gotta take advantage of it!

Love it man, IE is the best look for the mk7. I’ve got the lid on mine, no noticeable drop in temps. Would keep it off but since i bought it for temps and no difference I’ll keep it on
@Vaguh
@Vaguh 2 года назад
I think that the quality is top notch and I'm a fan of the design. And yes, based on the design I wouldn't expect the carbon lid to have any significant impact on intake temps. It's just there to look pretty.

Catless or catted downpipe, and awe track exhaust. I promise, no tractor noise. Quite the opposite, very satisfying invigorating sound with zero drone even with catless and stage 2. It's zero drone, I can not say enough about how impressed I am with the awe exhaust system. Yes, this is my setup, and it's about as perfect as it gets for the mk7. I get legitimate compliments from people who r genuinely impressed with its crazy unique sound. It's not tractor, It's not raspy, I assure you. The only way I could describe it is baby GTR. I'm always seeing people on the sidewalks turning to see what's coming towards them, and they turn away once they realize it's just a golf, lol. It's funny but satisfying knowing the sound genuinely peeked their interest enough to look back. The system itself is very high quality, and the muffler does a lot as far as taking care of any possible drone and raspeness And this also aids in the nice deep professional sounding tone to the overall sound. I highly suggest skipping the touring version. The only difference is the very high-quality ultra Quiet resonator, even with a catless pipe it will still be pretty quiet because the quality of materials is extremely high, but maybe that is what u want. The best part about this system is that it's a giant Lego set. The only difference between the track and the touring is literally the resonator, which can be added later on or taken off. If u get the track version, and it's too loud for u, then just order the resonator and it's a quick switch, if u got the touring and it's too quiet, th3n just order the short pipe that replaces it and boom u got your self the track version. Obviously, the track version is cheaper because there is no resonator, but overall, the system is very well priced, far cheaper than the Akro... akra.. uhhh, nevertheless. This setup is near perfection, in a language u gti bros will understand. Is dope, my guy. Fair warning, if catless, and tuned. This thing can sound not like a shotgun but almost like a semi-auto assault rifle with the over-run while in a lower gear and like thunder in the distance when in a higher gear, and at times, like one of those small, agile aircraftes making a low pass while getting on the throttle. Now the the little mini explosions on the up shifts if u have the dsg aren't soo little anymore, is quite insane, its baby f1 levels, it will reverberate threw the entire neighborhood so keep that in mind it may be to much for you. Yeah, it's pretty nutty. But in a very entertaining and satisfying way.

Honestly, I’m not sure that I’ll ever do a catback exhaust on the R. I just haven’t heard any sound or tone of one that appeals to me. I think it has to do with the sound that the R emits that I’m not a huge fan of.

@@ekallivrousis The replacement coolant line takes a different path and routes under the intake. I’ve seen folks leave the OEM coolant line in place, but it doesn’t look as clean AND has the potential to be cut over time by laying over the sides of the intake if you don’t have the carbon lid.

Informative video. I've ordered this airbox for my Mk7 R and just seeing how to install it. At around 3:14 you remove a small hose from the side off the stock airbox. Does this re-attach to the IE airbox? Appologies if i missed that part.

Home invasion at 16:46... 😆 Was this setup with the stock turbo muffler in place, or an aftermarket TMD? My setup is a modified stock airbox, K&N drop-in, and (for the moment) stock TM. Makes great power, resists heat soak on the intake side, but I'm ready for more induction noises. Wondering if a 034 Motorsports TMD might get me there. Thanks in advance!
@Vaguh
@Vaguh 4 месяца назад
Stock turbo muffler. I haven't touched it. I think going with any open or semi-open intake is going to get the noises you're after. Adding the TMD, should be another way to get some of those sweet sounds.

I think you’re referring to the 90 degree vacuum line fitting that goes on the underside of the main silicon intake hose. I wouldn’t doubt you can find one locally at a hardware store, but if you’re having trouble you can reach out to IE support for help. They might be able to send one or give you specifics on the size and details.

I guess you could try a GTI catback, but not sure on fitment and then you’d have a bunch of extra room from where the tips were. I might have to start experimenting.

Nice intake, looks smooth! Is engineering integrated your first pick as far intakes go?
@Vaguh
@Vaguh Год назад
One of my favorite looking intakes is the R600 unit from Racingline. I just love the OEM+ look you get with it. As for the IE intake, it would probably land in the top 3 if I was to create a ranked list of intakes for these cars. It has a great fit and with the carbon lid, it definitely provides a really nice finished look. If you're looking for an intake I think you should take a few things into consideration to see what's the best for you. Beside cost and looks, consider the design and features of whatever you're looking at. One thing I like about the IE unit is that it replaces the front intake inlet to maximize the amount of fresh air it gets from the grill area. Not all intakes are designed this way. The downside of the IE unit is that the carbon lid is extra and doubles the cost of the intake, so if you want something enclosed that is another consideration. If you aren't looking to go beyond stage 2 power levels, virtually any intake from most major aftermarket companies are going to work well.
@DrewB439
@DrewB439 Год назад
@@Vaguh Thank you for all the information, it was very helpful! Another question; will a enclosed intake keep more heat out of the filter element? Or is that all myth about open intake systems?
@Vaguh
@Vaguh Год назад
@@DrewB439 It might make a difference depending on your climate, but the reality is that the only time an open intake has “hot air” entering is at idle. The amount of time it takes for air to start moving through the engine bay and into your intake is incredibly low. I never posted about it, but we did some under hood temperature testing on our own and measured intake air temps. Once we started moving, it took about 1-2 seconds for temps to drop close to ambient temps. If you’re in a hot climate, it might be a reason for an enclosed intake to try and keep IAT down, but you may never notice a difference.
@ronbarker6075

Does the carbon fiber lid actually seal up the box in the rear or is it still open in the back also? Thanks.
@Vaguh
@Vaguh 2 года назад
The lid only goes down about 3" in the back, so I'd call it mostly open. I'd say there is not going to be any difference in performance or intake temps with or without the lid. It's very much an aesthetic cover, but dammit it looks good.
@ronbarker6075
