If they extend Happ I'm very optimistic about them getting back to a strong team. Have a lot of solid young talent and brought in help to contend. I like the direction they are going but hop they don't ditch Happ and others and expect the young guys to come up and save them. Think it'll be a solid and fun year for them tho and could definitely be competitive this year

Honestly, I thought the era ended earlier. When a productive player and team leader, Ben Zobrist retired the team was just off. He was a big leader for those cubs teams and I at least felt a huge difference with his absence.

And I as a Yankee fan can remember how your Red Sox smashed up the Curse of the Bambino so thoroughly, that the Cardinals were basically looking down the barrel of a SHOTGUN! It was like BOOM! And just little red feathers all over the place!!! Maybe if these Cubs were to get through the Dodgers, the very hot Cleveland Indians would be staring down that shotgun barrel, too!!!

Wash Guy Wife's family is from Monson. We live in Chicago. I was hoping for a Wrigley/Fenway WS. Would have been historic and really good for baseball. Big Papi should have went out a little better.

I don't think you're correct. Per MLB Rule 8.05, a lefthanded pitcher can throw to first base without stepping off the rubber as long as he steps directly toward first base before making his throw. If he brings his lead foot behind the rubber, then he has committed to throwing home and cannot then throw to first base without committing a balk. If he moves toward home, then he must complete his pitch to the batter and cannot then throw to first without committing a balk. In this case, the pitcher kept his lead foot always in front of the rubber and stepped directly toward first base, so his pickoff throw was legal, even though he didn't first step off the rubber.
