Astros may have lost the series to the Phillies technically, but the first game was a damn close game that they lost. I mean, it went to extra innings, which obveiously favors the home team. So yeah, they lost the series but only by 1 run and they capped the series off with a 10-0 win, showing what they can really do. Then they swept the Royals in a 4 game series. Currently, the Astros are the #3 seed in AL and they are only 3 games back from #2 and 4 games back from #1. They could take the AL #1 seed if things keep going as they are.

It seems as the Brewers just been getting better as the season went on. Will not be surprised if they go on a run this October. Also as a big Dodgers fan, considering our pitching is still very much questionable. Yes we’re getting Glasnow and Yamamoto back, but there’s still enough question marks that I don’t feel confident for October.

Uncharacteristically, Starting pitching has been a problem for Cleveland all year: Beiber, Carrasco, Allen, and McKenzie are now gone. The Guardians have added three injured Starters since June: Boyd, Cobb, and Williams. Bibee continues to get better. Add in Lively, the most consistent Starter all season, and you have an impressive rotation! Lively is now their number-five Starter. Cleveland has a track record of getting the most out of their pitching talent. Despite a massive overhaul since June, they maintain their lead in the Central and continuously challenge the Yankees and Baltimore for the best record in the American League (AL). The 3 formerly injured, now fresh, pitchers haven't any reliable stats. The eye test and Cleveland's track record speak for themselves. They have a relief corps that ranks as the best in baseball -- it is not even close. Their opponents have 6 innings to beat Cleveland -- Cleveland has 9 to win. Ask yourself, "Does their revitalized Rotation and lights-out Bullpen combine to be the best pitching staff in MLB?" Cleveland needs Kwan, Ramirez, and Josh Naylor to do the heavy lifting in the lineup. With those 3 consistent hitters, a 4th All-Star (Fry), and an emerging young power hitter (Noel) in the lineup, Cleveland is well-positioned to take it all.

I would switch Pittsburg and Washington. I would put the Mets at 13, braves at 12 and move the AL central teams up. Then I would have put the Astros at #2 Arizona at 3 and Milwaukee at 4

I agree about the dbacks though they havent lost the series to the Dodgers there's one more game tomorrow. Whoever wins takes the season series.

Don't know how the cardinals can be above the cubs. Sure you can talk competition and say that the cardinals are winning against tougher teams, but the cubs are not just sweeping these bad teams, but utterly dominating them. and you can't just not look at the standings. it's September now, and playoffs are on everyone's mind. you say that the cardinals are doing better against better teams, but that doesn't matter if they aren't fighting for a playoff spot. if you compare schedules part of the reason that the cubs are playing all these bad teams now is because they played them all mid-early season. It's not like you can just make the cubs play a tougher team. to the same point, you can't just give the cardinals an easier matchup. The cubs started their season with a harder schedule, and are ending with the easiest schedule in the national league. the cardinals started off easier, and therefore have a harder schedule to end the season. Sure it's baseball and anything can happen so long as the odds are not 0%, but at a certain point and time there are playoff contenders and some that are not. while the cardinals don't have that hard of a schedule remaining, the brewers on the road, the guardians at home, and the giants on the road are all not easy series. the only series that are "easy" are colorado (on the road), and low end divisional rivals (which are never really easy). While the cubs have 3 tough series as well, with the yankees at home, dodgers on the road, and the phillies on the road, they also have multiple series with bad teams. They have the same rockies series, the A's, the nationals again (who they just swept on the road and are now playing at home in a 4 game series), the pirates (who they just swept on the road and are now playing at home as well), the A's (who at home should be a "easy series"), and the reds at home. With a multi game lead, still being in a reasonable playoff contention spot, and an crushing of inferior opponents with plenty of them to come, I see no reason why the cardinals should logically be ahead of the cubs. there are two different ways power rankings are normally done. 1. Who is playing the best at the moment while considering the standings at the moment (both of which would put the cubs a good amount ahead imo, and 2. as of right now, which teams in order are most likely to do the best, in general. I think I have thoroughly explained why the cubs cover the second ranking as well, and by that standard, don't have a clue how the cardinals are ahead.

Five out of the top six teams are in the NL? Biased much? 😂
