As a Brewers fan, I remember watching the Stanton Injury live. Absolutely scary. No intent whatsoever, but that still pissed off the Marlins Announcers.
The Brewers pitchers are always hitting opposing hitters and it's never intentional. If you can't pitch inside without hitting someone, quit pitching inside. Then they have the nerve to get pissed off when the other team retaliates. They hit Wilson Contreras of the Cubs almost every game they play each other .
I still dont believe Fiers hit Stanton on purpose... twice... both situations were not in the case to bean someone. Especially the first one he seemed to genuinely feel bad.
@Tyler Randall exactly, especially at that level they’re playing at. Intention means nothing when you’re season gets ended by a fastball to the face. I’m a Mets fan but I was happy for Stanton.
I'm confused. Unwritten rules state that if a batter celebrates to the point of hurting the pitcher's feelings, the pitcher can throw a baseball at someone. What does the batter get to throw at the pitcher if the pitcher celebrates?
When Mike fiers hit Stanton it was an accident. When he did it again on the tigers that was an accident, fiers felt bad when he hit Stanton because it was a season ending injury. The homer was a reason for revenge on the tigers and Yankees when staton got HBP.
You really can't blame Fiers for the severity of Stanton's injury. Even a little leaguer knows to turn away from a pitch that is riding in on you...Stanton literally opened up his stance and turned directly into the pitch, that's why it hit him so squarely in the face.
@@beau8001 not true. Stanton has a closed stance. He opened right up instead of turning towards the back stop. I've been hit by quite a few pitches, always in the backside because i turn the correct way. That was drilled into me as a young kid.
I love the baez garret rivalry. I am on garrets side since he really is like that. He was pretty chill about Baez getting the best of him. He let Baez have his moment rather than going after him, you know Baez would’ve gone after him
No it’s bc they were gonna loose either way bc there was no outs so if he caught it they would tag up and he would be safe or if he did that they would win so either way they would win
These guys make me laugh. Childish hypocrisy at its finest. Hitters hit solo home runs in blowout games and dance around like they’ve won game 7 of the World Series, and pickers whine and complain. Pitchers stoke a guy out and act like it’s the last out on the bottom of the 9th in a 1 run game 7 and hitters whine and complain. Hey everyone, to paraphrase John Madden, Vince Lombardi, Don Cherry and so many others: show some class, act like you’ve been there before.
Looking at your RU-vid channel, I think you’re projecting with the whole “backseat little league failure” thing. Don’t go trying to brush people off if you can’t fucking control your fastball, man.
So it's okay to wildy throw 90+ mph fastballs high and in with weak command or control? And if the batter gets hurt then it's their fault right? For not dodging the bullet that was just shot at them?
Funny how the first one Baez hit a can of corn. He had zero reason to celebrate because his “hit” was only relevant because of the effort of the other three players who got on for him. Wouldn’t consider it as great of a revenge moment as other ones are. I guess it was cool because of the beef the players had but unless it’s a homerun or something it’s not that great.
@@xJeremySx I’m just saying it’s not worthy of being a revenge moment. I used very obvious baseball vernacular in my post, I hope that would prove I’ve played baseball. I’ve not only played but coached at the high school level as well. I don’t want to burst the guys bubble but come on that wasn’t a good hit, it was just something that worked in the circumstance. There is much better revenge moments in baseball to highlight than that.
If a major league pitcher hits a batter he should be tossed from the game, automatically. Look, if you're playing at that level and you can't avoid hitting a batter, go back to the minors. These guys make millions. If you want to brush a batter off the plate, ok, but if you hit him, sit on the bench. That will clear up all the "was it intentional" debates. What's important isn't intent. What's important is whether or not the pitcher is in control of his pitches.
@@Theory_draws Oh, I know it's impossible, but it shouldn't be. I also think they should have designated hitters in the National league. That may happen if ticket sales don't pickup.
Two legends of the game... Bob Gibson didn't like it when batters crowded *his* plate. Gibson threw at Roberto Clemente one day. Clemente responded with a line drive that hit Gibson and took Gibson out of the game. Gibson never threw at Clemente again.
One of my favorite revenge moments was Carlos Guillen getting back at Jered Weaver. I think Weaver had thrown at Magglio Ordonez. After Guillen hit the homer off him and showed him up Weaver went off the deep end. What a dick! It's at around the 5:33 mark in this video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iooSE_Q85SA.html
Depends on the situation but you can usually tell by body language if there was intent (see Fiers hitting Stanton at the end here, he's obviously upset).
First one is especially funny when you realize Garret was brought in with bases loaded and gave up a fly out.... then the Cubs went to lose that series LMAO
@@Theory_draws but to say it’s a flight out is blasphemy😂even if the Cf tried his hardest to catch that he’s just not that shit was a hard hit ball at the warning track would’ve been a great catch if he made it
He was under it bro and 99 percent of outfielders would have made that play. Plus he was just jogging if he had sprinted he would have been under it easily
2:24 Ok. Ok. I knoww this is being way too particular. But did A-rod swing here? He crossed the plain with the bat. I think that could be called a strike.
