[Deepest Lore] In an earlier draft of the movie "A New Generation", the character of Alphabittle was a blind hermit with the ability to see the "Luminescence" of other ponies even through rock (he lived in a cave). It is implied (in both continuities) that he became the defacto "adoptive father" of Izzy [so she may technically become the first "unicorn princess" in millenia]. . Izzy said that she can perceive the spirits of her ancestors. . Izzy can create & manipulate powerful magical objects, that grant her wishes/desires (as she actually ments to be, not literally like a robot or djinn). . Alphabittle's tea/coffee has "dead souls" coming out of it. . Eating/drinking Alfie's concoctions makes ponies to like him (Sunny asked for a drink in the movie, but never took it). . . . -> He is a Warlock. His Patron demands him to do weird stuff at inconvenient times in exchange of powers (so he made up dumb supersticions & rituals popular on his little unicorn comunity to not look suspicious). He is using this abilities to woo the Queen of the Pegasi (either for his own emotional/economical gain; or as a step to fullfill a "request" made by his Patron). Not necesarilly villain motives.
All the "bad luck" stuff happening ONLY to Alphabittle is a consequence of him ignoring stuff that actually JINXS him (for the sake of making Haven happy). -> That scene were a guard is cleaning some random dirt behind him was suspicious (it serves no porpouse either in the context of him visiting Haven or dealing with her daughters).
When i watched the episode, My first thought was that now that AlphaHaven is officially canon it makes it wonder if this is just gonna be a one time thing or will Alphabittle and Queen Haven's romance make small cameos in Pipp and Zipp's arc in the series? Because personally Ieven though apparently not too many people support the AlphaHaven ship I for one would just like to see how it plays out in terms of character development, Because you never know Alphabittle could end up asking Haven to marry him someday and if that happens not only will he become Pipp and Zipp's new father but it will be a history changer for G5 Equestria because you know a Unicorn and Pegasus getting married would definitely create a stronger unity between the two pony races since Alphabittle and Haven are the leaders of them. But anyway those are just my thoughts.
@@AddyLovestar Well the reason why I want to see it go somewhere is because after all Big Mac and Sugar Belle's romance played a small role in the CMC's arc in G4, I know not too many people liked that but I was interested in seeing how it played out. But anyway yeah Queen Haven and Alphabittle's relationship is pretty weak now but if they get more episodes together who knows maybe it'll go somewhere only time will tell.
This episode is a prime example of why the TYT format is not suited to handling heavier themes. This storyline should have been saved for MYM where they'd have had a chance to flesh the concept out, as there's a lot to unpack.
I feel like the biggest problem with this episode is that Zipp and Pipp's motivations are unexplored. No, not the motivation they say about wanting to make the Mare's Day perfect. The REAL motivation; that Pipp and Zipp are not ready to accept Alphabittle and Haven's relationship. I think it's understandable that Zipp and Pipp might have reservations about Haven starting a new relationship. They've been raised by Haven as a single mother for what seems to be a very long time, possibly their whole life. A father coming into their family is a pretty big change. It's a conflict that children who have had single parents suddenly start dating have faced. *I* certainly had my reservations about getting a father when my mom would start dating, as I was really just raised by her my whole life, I got used to living without a father. I certainly never acted as hostile as Zipp and Pipp do in the episode, but I can understand their uncetainty. The problem is that uncertainty isn't explored. For some reason, there's no mention about Pipp and Zipp's previous father, or even just about being scared of how Alphabittle coming into the family would change its dynamic. Why is this? The writer of this episode also wrote Starscout Code, an episode that said that Sunny had no living family members, point blank. Yet this episode can't say Haven is a widow, or even divorced, or even just say Pipp and Zipp were raised without a father? Not only is their motivation unexplored, but it being unexplored makes the episode less relatable to people who have faced this situation, which...isn't that the whole point of this kind of plot? The wildest part is that Common Ground from Friendship is Magic, which primarily focused about *the dad's* anxieties about joining the new family, actually bothered to show why Wind Sprint had reservations about Quibble Pants.
I feel like it's a bit generous to assume there was subtext or an underlying conflict. I considered mentioning the possibility, but the episode doesn't even imply such a thing, so it felt dishonest But yeah, an episode about that would've been far more enjoyable and interesting
I’m actually grateful this wasn’t about Zipp and Pipp being jealous as I really don't like that trope (yes, I know it happens in real life) and it has been done to death. (including FiM: The Maud Couple and Common Ground) While of course it was a shock to them, they were more upset about the date getting in the way of their plans.
@@javierfebronio8907 I think it's much worse that Pipp and Zipp were just mad about their plans, especially given the extent in which they were mad. Like Addy said in the video, it makes them come across as jerks, and it's based around a lesson they should've already learnt on Panic on Harvest and Hugs Day, especially Pipp since that episode centered around her. And especially since, as a man coming into what he knows is a family of a single mother and kids, Alphabittle would already be worrying over seeking their approval as Haven's daughters. It's a lot more sympathetic that Pipp and Zipp are scared and uncertained with the prospect of having a new father in their single mother family unit, than shunning him entirely because of their plans. One might be an unconscious action based around fear--the other is consciously mean.

Which directly said ponies shouldn't be judged for their races? The heck does it matter than Haven's a pegasus and Alphabittle's a unicorn??
Imagine if this episode drove a wedge between Queen Haven and her daughters when she decided to have plans with Alphabittle on mothers day where she's supposed to spend it with them also she's scolding them for him not having a good time and she makes them carry him while they're going flying. If Izzy appeared in this episode, Do you think she'd know how to handle Alphabittle? If I were Pipp and Zipp, I'd yell at Queen Haven for not paying attention to how the two sisters are not having a good time with Alphabittle coming in between of the mother daughter bonding and turn my back on her resulting in an estrangement among the family.
Okay i as a young girl lost my father and she eventually tried dating, in the end that guy was a douche bag “ they aren’t together” but,as a young kid i respected my mom’s choice I even had those moments of wanting it to be just me and her and my brother, but I didn’t act like a douche bag like zipp and pipp are here. I think you can write the scenario of the kid being jealous of the parent dating someone else but it has to be done right.
I'm tempted to say that Haven's in the wrong. Sure, she compromised, but she chose the worst time for a date and told them at the last minute. It’s almost like she assumed her daughters weren’t going to do anything for her. Keep in mind that on the last "Mare's Day" she missed their surprise. (Queens for a Day) But I’m glad this didn’t end with them calling Alphabittle: “dad”. That would’ve been forced, kind of dumb (and a giant middle finger to Zipp/Pipp’s father) I don’t hate this ship, but I hope this is just a one-time thing. But if this isn’t then I would like them to address how they acted in the movie. The way they bickered implies they had some ugly history with each other
I wouldn't assign too much meaning to their interactions in the New Generation movie, as at that point three tribes were still hostile to each other (aside from Sunny and her friends, of course).
In the G4 universe, were Scootaloo's parents the only couple in the MLP FIM show who weren't the same pony kind besides Big Mac being a thing with Sugar Belle? Only thing Scootaloo got from the genetics of her parents is the disability of not being able to fly. Don't know what to say about Queen Haven dating Alphabittle since they're not the same pony kind also she and the other Pegasus use a facial cream that's bad for Unicorn which is something that I don't understand
Ikr?! They should’ve at least referenced him at some point Why not even add some deep meaning behind Pipp’s phone obsessed with this, what do I mean by that? Considering how in the portrait day pictures, their father still seemed to be gone, meaning he probably died when they were around about five years old. Pipp could’ve been horrified to hear her father being dead do to something like illness or whatever else, and Haven could’ve given Pipp a phone early to cope a bit better with this loss and Pipp became obsessed with taking pictures to at least have enough memorial of her new memories sadly unlike with her father. We could then have an episode with the sisters bond now being stronger, Pipp mentions the origin of her phone obsession beyond just wanting to have fun. Zipp hearing this tells her sister that she herself doesn’t have about any videos or memorials to see her past self as what matters is who she is now and that it’s perfectly fine that she can’t remember almost everything that’s happened in her life. After this, Pipp still of course does her streams but knows how to better handle it. I just wish Make Your Mark would even consider trying emotional stories way more. This would make having a character in mlp have modern technology stand out. Of course, I still love Pipp
the same as Sunnys mom, Hitch's parents, Izzys parents and Mistys parents. The case of writers had no idea how to write them and animators having no budget to animate them or give them voice actors
Once again, the show had the opportunity to bring him up but chose not to 🤦♂ Even if we never learn what happened to him, he deserves some kind of acknowledgement of his existence (a photo, a mention, a flashback)
