The truly amazing thing about Marcelo Garcia is this: Every day there is some new black-belt who's a steely eyed killer at the peak of his game from some part of the world Marcelo has never been to. They all want to test themselves against the legendary Marcelo Garcia. Somehow Marcelo, who is well into his 40's and has a lifetime of BJJ injuries still manages to live up to their expectations. Day in and day out - whenever he shows up to the gym, he knows he's going to have a war with a beast or two. Or ten. I don't know how he does it.
+Aaron Wolbach well into his 40s? Ummmm no..... he's not even halfway into his 30s.... born in '83. And apart from an ACL reconstruction in 2014, he's been pretty healthy. But you are correct that he does get the best in our sport coming in to challenge him on a daily basis. I train with him and it sure is fun to watch.
I was mistaken about his age. The point I was trying to make is just this; The very best grapplers in the world come from all over the place to roll with him. Everyone expects him to win all the time. It's a lot of work to live up to his own legend every day and he's not getting any younger.
Learned a few things from watching this: 1. When the opponent likes to posts on the shoulders or chest / takes a collar tie during butterfly guard, elevating them will make them post one hand on the ground which gives the easy straight armlock. 2. For opponents who like to have 1 knee up 1 knee down, the ankle pick is almost always available. If you don't get the ankle pick, you'll at least get a single leg
it is amazing to see how the 'korean pitbull' struggles, while Marcelo Garcia barely seems to make any kind of strenght. he is one of the greatest indeed! bjj at its best.
Marcelinho Garcia eh top demais. Na minha opinião foi o faixa Preta mais técnico de sua época, uma época em q tinham mitos, como Xande Ribeiro, Fernando Tererê, Ronaldo Jacaré e Roger Gracie. #Marcelinhomito
He overextended his base looking for the choke... big, big mistake. That choke is essentially Marcelo's property at this point. He shouldve just chilled and consolidated, but his mind was weak. Thats the problem, right. People aren't able to bring their full skill to bear against Marcelo because Marcelo is just soooo pure and it intimidates the shit out of people.
What choke?? he has nearside shoulder pressure and he was fighting for the underhook. The only thing is Marcelo garcia lets him get the underhook and then traps his arm and then uses great timing to sweep the opponent to the left.
I wont watch or will never watch a 10min video without sound..but if its MG.. Damn..ill rewind it again and again until i suck it all.......... he's too awesome...beautiful.
Set playback speed to x0.25, then @ 2:55 - Doo tries to turn it up. @ 3:00 - Marcelo activates the next level. Things go downhill for Doo from there. Marcelo = GOAT!
If you build warriors and worldchampions like he has been doing for so long than thats what you have in return. worldclass roll every single, I suposse that not easy. .
That's prob the most amazing thing about him. The people he rolls with are heaving like they just ran a marathon.... while he looks like he just woke up from a nap.
Honestly that guy has no guard and isn't trying to pass Marcelo at all - this isn't true BJJ and its really frustrating to watch. But so satisfying to see Marcelo teaching him a few friendly lessons with some quick cutting armbars from butterfly guard :)
Abdel Hakym That's dumb talk. That's like telling a Muy Thai fighter to bang his shin against another person's shin to strengthen them. navy seals to shoot real bullets at each other to make it real. There are different stages of training but going 100% all the time isn't it. What I am addressing is the unwillingness to engage for fear of being submitted. It makes a boring roll where you waste 7 minutes bc the other person refuses to engage. No one ever gets better.
Dan Rod i'm talking about grappling here,of course Muay thai and kickboxing are an entirely different story,i'm also talking about elite fighters,if you watch the Gracies sparring with each other,it's almost like a death match, that's how you refine your techniques and filter the bullshit from your arsenal
It's the same sweep and armbar from 2:26. Absolute savage move. I'm not positive, but it looks like he tries to lift the opponent's body completely off the ground using both legs which forces one of the arms to post onto the ground. I don't know if it's intentional, but the other arm he keeps to his body, which isolates the one arm to post on the ground. That's when he clinches it, shrimp, GAME OVER
man...not trying to take credits away from Garcia's technique but his natural strength has been his trademark since his brown belt days. His calf and core are ridiculously strong for him to manage many of his sig. moves, and this Korean is pretty strong too but got tooled well.
Lolololol. Bro, don't get so sensitive. The Korean Pitbull was demoted by Marcelo. I think Chihuahua is the quite appropriate. Now, How many times did the Chihuahua get tapped?
im sorry, that guy may be a top mma fighter (i dont really know his stature) but he has a really weak jiu jitsu game, not once did he try to pass the guard, he got sweeped so easily too and I mean I know its marcelo but cmon youre supposed to be a top fighter.
Numbers 11:4 The rabble with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing and said, “If only we had meat to eat! Skip to Numbers 11:33 But while the meat was still between their teeth and before it could be consumed, the anger of the Lordburned against the people, and he struck them with a severe plague.34 Therefore the place was named Kibroth Hattaavah,[d] because there they buried the people who had craved other food. Pretty sure God is saying 'go vegan'. Would make you a better athlete, wouldn't strike you with a plague either.
