@@ironstarofmordian7098 Yep. Quite a few. So far only one of them was willing to spar with me without any rules- he tapped out in about half a minute- then he got really humble, started training to fight for real, and made some serious progress as a martial artist and a human being. That guy was the rare exception, because most of the time, people only use the "too deadly" line as a facade to mask their insecurities and doubts.

That's not the worst self defense video I've seen, but it's probably a close second. And if you do get that particular wrist lock to work, go ahead and break the fingers/wrist. Then RUN! Don't bother with a neck break. Why is common sense so uncommon?

It wouldn't be "vindictive" even if she was out of danger, but she wasn't. This is all fantasy, but if the neck break worked, she should definitely do it. You seem to have the weird idea that you can't run anymore when a finger is broken. Or you think that real attackers are like sparring partners and just stand down when you've won a round.
@metamorphicorder

You only need to use hands to break the neck if your chi isnt up enough to do the no touch neck break. You can tell if your chi is up enough by looking for the 'half moons' on your finger nails. George Dillman taught me this.

Neck Break...I love How you just stood up. That's the best. I think the Gracie combative technique is cool accept if there is any kind of weight disparity. Assuming a woman is 100 lbs to 130 and a stronger, taller, man of a greater weight, grabs her and holds on tight, I don't know if she could bend over and grab his ankle. Hmm, something I have to think about. Thanks so much for these, and shedding light on really, really bad self defense. :-)
@Marveryn
@Marveryn 4 года назад
not to the best position to end up but there something about dropping down and making yourself dead weight. In TWD the technique I was taught go for the foot stomp move to a side slightly for a low groan punch to losen the grip and then slide down and kick up. Was test with mild resistance so am not sure how actually effective it is. I think I see a back elbow into the ribs use in some variation of pretty much the same thing. Basically that is a bad bearhug cause I am sure there a dozen way to force a break. the knuckle thing am nearly positive that suppose to be drive your knuckle into the attacker top of the hand and start twisting your knuck against the back of the hand. Not punch but press the hard the back of the hand into the grip till the grip come lose. Of course then I guess you go for a test of strength a much weaker women trying to do a wrist bend to force the guy to his knees. Yeah I see that happening.

So i explained how to not get in trouble and some alarm things they could carry (pepper spray, knives, and almost anything is illegal in Canada ) and things like that cause none of them could do anything that would not get them killed. I was reprimanded for not showing some techniques by my chief so i told him to be the women and use them on me .....he refused and gave me 3 days off without pay LOL ....yea i can laugh about it now

About breaking the neck.... If you have your opponent’s back, pull a seatbelt, from here, if you push your opponent’s nose or jaw and make him face up, then twist your opponents head either left or right, you actually can break the neck. But since rear naked choke is just way more easier and fast, I don’t know why you want to break the neck...... BTW, after someone got their neck broken( dislocated) they can still yell and breathe.... so is going to be a mess. Ps: I did not learn this from any women self-defense class, it was a catch wrestling coach that shared this technique with me.....

I am certified board Physician. Also black belt 5th degree in Hapkido and purple belt in BJJ. I have seen in videos this snap neck tecnique by soke Masaaki Hatsumi of the Bujinkan. We also do something similar in our Hapkido style, but it is not like snaping. We use some kind of "twisting neck crank motion" mostly for control and also for takedown to the ground. Many tecniques of standing submission grappling use the principle of disbalancing the head so the body follows he head to the ground. Also I see that the fingers grabbing tecnique is wrong. Many of these traditional grappling techniques work, but against the unaware and unprepared. First, I think you must try it with someone who is familiar with these tecniques if not an expert. Second, twisting violently the cervical spine vertebrae facet joints could result in serious injury. Third, it is not the same to try these against a jiujitsu grappler or any other prepared martial artist, because of their training background and danger awareness (many times instinctively made by training). And last, I consider traditional standing grappling submission techniques (like in aikido, hapkido, chin na/quin na, etc) are effective in close combat and self defense situations, but very low percentage in sparring/mma/cage/sport situations. Only my opinion. PS: Also the knuckle strike against the hand, can work, but has to be done correctly and in an unaware attackant. Also low percentage too.

You can break a neck. But, and this is the key, you need a fulcrum and good leverage. The whole Hollywood twisty shit only works if you keep twisting in one direction or the other, AND you need to be a lot stronger than them because they don't want you to do that. The neck is durable as hell and designed not to twist off easily.

You should do a video reviewing artem lobov vs Jason night in BKFC 5 (Bare knuckle boxing) a lot of people are split 50/50 on the idea of bare knuckle fights. On 1 hand theirs people that condemn this style of fighting because theirs more cuts and bleeding plus the fact that they don’t wear mouth guards so losing teeth is a real possibility as well. on the other hand people say this is the future of fighting because no gloves means less brain damage and forces fighters to pick their shots more carefully as to not break their hands.

I remember seeing that woman's video and thinking it's better than a lot of other self-defense stuff. Well, that was a while ago, and at least she turned the neck left and right. I've seen a lot of videos with Russian Systema guy's just casually turning someone's neck as they fall to the ground. I know how Systema is taught and I'm sure the students all believe that works and they could and would do that. The obvious mistake she's doing with the neck break is it's done with outstretched arms. Thus no strength or control.

Shave your head. You can not argue with a 100% success rate. That might sound dismissive- but it’s the only sure thing. This video may be eye opening about hair grab self defense: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uwNny3sgDp0.html

hi Coach, I've been a fight fan and enthusiast for a while but I'm just currently looking to get my first heavy bag and boxing gloves. Ive heard good things about freestanding bags and using 16oz gloves to start with for MMA fighters, what's your opinion? and is there anything else you could recommend to a beginner, gear wise

holding both arms is much better, but that is too high hold, holding lower and then holding forehead at his neck so he cant headbutt your nose and then he is yours to do what you what, supplex him on the pavement neck first, lift tilt and slam him on the pavement, run into a brick wall house his head first etc...but for competition in like submission wrestling I would agree car belt grip is better

Ramsey, have you encountered any videos where they teach women the five point palm exploding heart technique? They'd still have to get the villain to walk five steps after that, though, so maybe it's not widely regarded as practical?

It really winds me up when Holywood put neck break noises on a choke or sleeper hold...

What's your opinion of traditional Karate styles like Shotokan, Kyokushin, or Kempo? Do they still offer a legitimate way to defend oneself in a street fight in this modern day age of MMA? Thanks!

If you search "Nana Patekar Ultimate fight scene" on youtube there is a neck twist about 3 minutes into the video. I think this is how, and contextually why, it should be done. Just dismantles a guy going for a kick into a throw down on to his front, breaks his knee joint while on top of him, and then breaks his neck from behind in a matter of seconds - just a small fraction of one of the greastest fight scenes of all time probably. 4 or 5 thugs against an army Major with a chip on his shoulder - only one outcome.

It’s a fun fight scene, and I love the part where tells the thugs “come on, kill me” all deadpan and serious, but that’s not how neck breaking works either. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3Dq42VT7X-Y.html

Hey there, I have a question for your Q&A videos if you still do them :D Who do you think would win in a fight to the death, an MMA champion of present times, or an ancient warrior that already has the experience of several battles and is trained to kill both armed and hand to hand? I'm thinking Greeks, Romans or Macedonian.

That looks like it might crack my neck. It's horrible self-defense but it looks like an excellent way to avoid the chiropractor and possibly a big bill from the chiropractor.

The neck break thing aside. That wasn't as bad as the others you've done. For instance there's a very common grip break in jiujitsu where you apply pressure with your knuckles to break a grip, kind of similarly to what she was maybe suggesting. In another video you even suggest bending back the fingers in an almost identical situation. You said something like "if it's illegal in the UFC it must be ok".

Banging knuckles on the hands is a gamble at best. Some people will let go, some will not. Breaking fingers, on the other hand, is much higher percentage.

the "attacker" suddenly drops to his knees, freezes, doesn't use his other arm, and stares at the floor.....not at the person supposedly causing him serious injury at that very moment...maybe he saw a much more pressing matter on the floor to attend to
