If this man isn't awarded the Medal of Honor for jumping 160 ft from a helicopter into the jungle to save a downed chopper crew, then going back the next day to destroy the chopper and recover a pilots body, then the award is meaningless. It's a travesty that these SOG operators don't have a litany of MOH's.

Ive seen many of Mr Thompsons interviews. I dont know how he survived. THANK YOU for your service Sir. 🇺🇸 SALUTE 🇺🇸

Great interview. I have read and heard Dick Thompson before, but I could listen to him speak all day. A man who has the confidence to go over the fence unarmed, un-briefed and with no equipment but still knows he can make the difference if he can get on the ground is completely mind blowing. What an incredible man.

Wow these guys were real men…real super hero’s. Wow What an education that I just received. It takes situational awareness to a whole different level.

So this man says "Meet me at the range" and when you show up it's only hand grenades, every position, frag practice. That's hard core. Thank you for sharing your stories sir, my family and I sure do appreciate you.

My uncle was on an A-Team in MacV and had some wild stories of those recon guys. I’m so glad people are getting these guys on video, the stories are unbelievable and need to be heard.

Agreed, Dick Thompson has always kept the company of "Legends".... notwithstanding Dick Meadows..... Only confirms the adage, "Dime con quien andas... y te dire quien eres!" Thank you for this superb interview..... this has the feel of being in company of "Legends".

I sent some time in the jungles of Central and South America, I can relate to smell of other people, it always amazes me how you senses come back.

I understand his ideas with senses. I've spent most of my time in the woods. My friends growing up would play little league baseball or go swimming at the city pool but I would ride my bicycle out near our local golf club and "run" around in the "bush"! Example, squirrel hunting. Not looking for a squirrel but looking for a "flick" of its tail or "listening" for scurring around in the leaves! Listening to the sound of a squirrel "feeding" on a nut can give um away from a long ways! Same with a deer if your stalking. You almost never see a deer before it sees you. But if you're careful you'll see a "flick" of a tail or an ear. Listen....You'll hear a deer way before you'll see it. I also found that you need to look for "horizontal" lines while in the "bush". While in the "bush" you'll notice that most "lines" are vertical! Very few "horizontal" lines in the "bush"!! So you look for horizontal lines which are mostly unusual out there. Example the back of a deer is horizontal!

It would be better if the narrator talked about 90% less. No one's interested in his observations. Just let Dick talk more. That said I know what he's saying about that NVA tactic. They called it "hugging the belt"!

I set up 27 clay mores on a daisy chain one night in the A Shau valley. I was scared. 3/5 cav 1969 Vietnam.

I believe any real mensch can suffer PTS... even not having Honorably served.... as me concede to Dynamite Dick..... PTS can happen on any normal day shopping (por ex.), if caught crossing street while a motor vehicle racing at a pedestrian crossing it. PTSDeath happens when pedestrian "freezes" as if to watch (or exercise supposed kinesthetic mind control of rogue vehicle😮). Between this & Jocko, I'd pay for the quality-viewing presented here. Have seen our 'boys' in action. Once (or twice) type-specific blood was required for a wounded infantryman. The fellow soldiers from his unit were collected almost instantaneously, at "drop of hat".... n proceeded to help him survive surgery. The more I know.... da more I love my people.

Thomson was great the interviewer not so much.His questions were too long.Who is the star of this podcast?
