I love LARPing. I showed up for my first game with Underworld LARP and everyone started screaming at me "KILL THE LICH!!!!!!", because I showed up when it was dark, and with my pail pasty skin and dark make-up, I looked like a super powered un-dead person (a lich). They were all convinced I was a lich pretending to be an alive high elf and was going to just break character and kill all of them, because it was Hallows and the Shapers (game planners) would do that. Now my character's nickname is Lich Overlord and it's freakin great :D
It was a bit clique. You had your gnomes, your rouges, your casters, your healers, but those were very character based and my character was very social and chatted with everyone, so really it all depends on you. Oh my god, believe me, I thought it would be socially unhealthy. But it felt like an escape from being myself for a while, like reading or acting, but I'm still talking with a lot of people I met larping and those friendships are very real.
the best part of this is when you start talking about singing at the camp fire and someone yelled "ORCS" then you all drew your swords and started beating the crap out of each other!! 😂😂😂
I want to go LARPing, but I'm EXTREMELY nervous and I don't know if any of my friends or family would want to go with me...I feel awkward doing it, but I really want to.
As a Larper for 15 years, It is so wonderful to see this video of your first larp, and watch your videos of this year now as so how much you loved this and how much you have grown!
I find it odd, that people think LARPing would be socially unhealthy. You are engaging your imagination and playing, something totally fine for kids but considered wrong for adults. Which makes no sense to me. I mean you spend the time interacting with people, problem solving and working as a group. Plus it's active and gets you out of the house and moving, healthy for your body and mind :)
I’m rewatching all of Mo’s videos before I go to a new larp….it’s not even my first larp but the nerves still get to me, and watching these back gives me so much comfort.
This is something I've always wanted to do. But sadly there are no Larping groups in my area. I've thought about creating one myself, but scared it'll suck, cause there's a few who'd like to try it out, but non of us have ever larped or even roleplayed so we got no one who would be able to lead and teach us.
Hikaru Shinde I'm having the same issue now. I have a few friends who would most likely form one but now it's the issue of money because we are broke and moving across town so it's a bit to much for me to LARP at the moment. But good luck I bet this will be an amazing experience and maybe one day we can experience this!
Hikaru Shinde Hi! were in Sweden do you live? I might be able to help you find a group? I have been larping for four years now so I know a couple of really good larps, and just so you know swedish/Scandinavian larping is a little bit different from American larping :)
I went on my first LARP event a few weeks ago and it was amazing. I was basically shitting my pants before we got there and I was so glad that I had two friends with me who've been LARPing for a while so I could ask them questions if I needed to know anything. But it was amazing and I can't wait to go again. Everybody was incredibly nice and it was so much fun once you get used to it. I'm usually not a very social person. I'm more of a quiet person, not very confident when I'm with people I don't really know but during that event, it just completely changed. I talked to everyone I could find. To everybody wanting to do LARP, do it. Don't listen to people telling you it's silly. It's a great experience and if it makes you happy, just do it.
great video, I went to my first LARP this weekend, and it was amazing. I got some new friends and met some fantastic people. And I think that this could be my new hobby. Dont stop posting this videos.
This really tickled me pink. :3 Your experience sounds like the kind of experience I had--I wish more people would be willing to give it a try like you did.
LARPing is an amazing Hobby it has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me, it allows me to escape for awhile, exercise and be with some of the best people I have ever meet and happy you have found LARPing and hope you keep with it.
Totally. Totally. I even thought I'd enjoy it before I went, But I had no idea *how much*. It's really an incredible experience full of wonderful people. I'm glad you're into it, dude. It's super cool to have you there.
LARPing is really special to me and it has these special little moments that people new to and veterans of suddenly become equels. I clearly remember on my first larp we entered the cathedral of a lich who was terrorizing a nearby town. only for everyone in the party but me to run away screaming. I was a goblin completely unphased by the fear become he was oblivious to the fear spell and the consept of fear. so I alone went in cleared 2 hordes of skeletons and took down the lich' power long enough for my party to return and oblitarate the lich. I felt so awesome afterwards. To bad the story ended that event. R.I.P Wobbel the Goblin
"it was ridiculously intense" me: OK Mo :3 me.... Mo :D me: uh Mo: in TENTS me: IM DYING HERE LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!! I was slow in getting it but when I did I wanna just give you a plate full of cookies for that pun! **hands you a plate of cookirs**
I went to this summer camp in like middle school and we would have "rest time" and every one in our unit area would grab the swords we made and just fight each other. Those were good times
Hey your video is great! I've always wanted to larp! :D I was curious is the larp you went to a public thing? where is the larp you went to at and is there a link to the website you found for the larp? I was wondering because I was curious if it was near me and such~! ^ω^ thanks
I know the hangover feeling - I once was a dwarf and I had the feeling of having a beard (I'm a girl - the beard was a costume) for a week afterwards ... 😁
LARPing is an amazing experience. Glad you enjoy Shadow Realms. :) Also, LARPing has also been super healthy for a lot of players. We've had people recover from severe social disorders and are now much more out going and able to handle social interactions. :D
Not gonna lie, first time I discorded about larping I was a bit sceptical yet curious but after seeing all these videos and having so many ideas I really wish I could go larping...
You know, I can just tell that this is one of those things I'd love to do someday... Though unfortunately I can't seem to find any LARPs in my area... O.o
Come overseas some time. We're doing alot of fun stuff over in Europe. It's a bit different. We're not as focused on hitpoints and strengths, but more about making a special scene. Would love to see your take on it.
***** You should look up a company called Lorien Trust, it meets up in groups of up to 4,000 people, it goes from a Friday to Monday and is very user friendly, I've been going a year and I love it, it is in derby so you'll have to travel a little but I travel farther and it's worth it.
+flyingwithjdx There is also Curious Pastimes which meets twice a year in Gerrard's Cross just outside London :) (fellow london-ish person here) And several theatre-style larps meet in pubs and stuff. There are videos on RU-vid if you search Curious Pastimes......(and also a fb group)
These are the videos I’m showing people who are interested, on the edge, or judging me for liking LARP. Because my D&D group and family judge me fire trying to start my own community out here where there is none. There are many who want to do LARP but none have been successful in starting a group/community out here. But I just got local Tabletop Game Stores to agree to put up a flyer for my LARP community. Gonna be taking professional pictures here soon with a few people who joined early and get the flyers designed then printed at a proper location on proper paper. Will have a LARP poster for myself and the community lol 😆. Will say, if anyone here has herd of the Black Hills, feel free to hit me up. You can search Black Hills LARP and find my many sites that I use for gathering new members.
Larping is the best thing in the world I've been going since December and my Char is fabulous and it's helps with confidence. Like I was terrified on my first night I had no reason to but yeah it's so fun do larp of you can look to up. * insert Shia laboeuf " just do it"
So...I know nothing about LARPing so I've been watching vids and such (how I found your channel Mo Mo!).... There is a question that I've had running around my head and it's this... When you are fighting or whatever do you call out damage? Or does it simply depend of the type of LARP? I'm sorry if it's a stupid question XD I'm still trying to wrap my head around it because it looks like amazing fun!
From what I've gathered it depends on the LARP? Like in the one I'm going to you don't call out projectile or melee damage but you have to call out magic or special ability attacks and then hand the card you made for that attack in to the ref.
For me, when I attack with a melee weapon, I have to yell the amount of damage, and then the type of damage. For example: "2 Steal!" 2 being the damage I deal, steal being the type of damage. Steal is the most common, it just takes away health.
Well, Larp DID come from Europe originally. But I don’t think it’d be better. Everyone starts out small and look what’s become of her now! :D I don’t personally think that European Larps are better or worse than American Larps (Look at Bicolline and Armistice Arcane!!). Though they are clearly more popular here...
Hey Mo mo, I was wondering about something. Is this larp like divided in a few groups that sometimes attack the other groups or race vs race or player vs player? (Also how many people play this larp?)
Frank Tiemens usually people will just work together against the npcs (the nonplayer.. people?) but it is free for all so at any time somebody can kill you so be on guard. also there are these things called "companys" its a group of players that work together on quests and stuff. sometimes two companys will fight each other. but most of the time you are doing quests with other players against npcs. its fun but pretty geeky Ive gone to one event so far. I had a blast.
I live in Australia and I don't think we do it here but if I could go larping i'd make my name green wear a green hood brown clothes and be all mysterious and i'm really good at climbing trees so i'd climb up high enough so I don't get hurt if I fall but high enough that enemys can't get me and i'd be an archer and jump from tree to tree shooting people and it would be AWESOME
thumperas22 "Life Action Role Playing". So yes, it is. But there are different genres. If you want to really get into it. Larpcraft or Elegy are good larps. There is a Harry Potter, Fallout, and other LARPS.
I would love to LARP, but I wouldn't be able to do any over nighters. I am not sure if my BF would be comfortable with it since he worries for my safety and all. Love the Senna Song from Bleach by the way.
