Monique has brains, class, courage, and talent. Her performance in PRECIOUS was extraordinary and hearing her have a very sophisticated and balanced approach to the Roseanne controversy is a breath of fresh air and wisdom amid a circus of lunatics throwing stones when they all live in glass mansions.

I totally agree with Monique. She’s right.... many people talk about loving each other yet they fail the test when it’s time to showcase it. Think about it.... our Instagram and Facebook feed is bombarded with inspirational quotes on love, forgiveness, being a better person... etc...... yet we can’t forgive Roseanne. Makes you wonder is it all for likes or 👍🏾🤔
6 лет назад
Mom The Ebayer How many times would you say is an appropriate number to "forgive" Roseanne who can't seem to control herself from calling black women apes? This was not the first time Roseanne has publicly made her feelings known around this topic...she has boldly demonstrated that she somehow has to showcase her delusions of superiority by using degrading, racially charged language to vent her displeasure with black women whom she disagrees with politically. Anyone can make a mistake and subsequently be forgiven for it. However, when an individual purposely and deliberately repeats the same action/infraction over and over as in the case of Roseanne. ..it ceases to be a mistake. What it shows is that Roseanne knew exactly what she was saying when she said it and she did it much like most cowardly racist....she spewed her hate-filled vitriol and later attempted to walk it back once it sparked outrage! Equating black women to monkeys which lends historical context to how we were looked upon as a people during slavery and the correlation to having non-human phyisical characteristics, is classic home grown racism in all of it's glory. This is not a question of Roseanne Barr making a 'mistake' as Mo'nique seems to think. "Sister in comedy or not"...words that are expressed with the deliberate intent to humiliate, belittle and dehumanize do not get forgiven or defended. We as black women need to stand up and champion ourselves for a change! Sorry Mo'nique but you are waaay off base Sis.

Since Monique loves people so much and believes in forgiveness why hasn't she forgiven Oprah, Tyler and Lee Daniels? Or is that love only reserved for white people?

I'm sick of tired hearing people saying that Roseanne didn't speak up for Monique during the time when Monique was being blackballed by Lee Daniels, Oprah , Tyler Perry and Netflix. But yet y'all didn't mention about black celebrities not speaking up or taking up for Monique. They didn't even try to help her with her career. Where was Denzel Washington during the time when Monique was being blackballed? How bout Tyler Perry, Spike Lee, Chris Rock the list goes on and on. And correct me if I'm wrong some of these black celebrities aren't taking up for Monique , because they think she's wrong. Like Whoopi Goldberg for example. Monique is a genuine person. Everyonr needed to learn to except it. Smh

Respect! I keep in mind those who speak up for right. Monique has my continued respect. This is just. I wish ppl would just look at the FACTS for once of what the book/movie actually means. Roseanne Barr didn’t call Valerie Jarrett an ape. It was part of the book/movie title she used to express her feelings. It was a political tweet for goodness sake. She was speaking from her own place culturally and politically. She is jewish. We’ve got to get past this childishness and think. Agree with someone politically or not, but at least hear them out.

I've always just laughed at monique, I've never really looked at her. Monique is a beautiful woman. Beauty inside and out, that's the best of both worlds.

It wasn't Roseannes only racist tweet. So how many times can you say your sorry for being racist until you actually are a racist. Plus this is an other celeb who only thinks about how SHE was treated. All about ME.

This is really beautifully said. It seems like we're in such a hypocritical day and age in "social media". Such BD. Roseanne apologized IMMEDIATELY. I miss her on TV. Love to Monique, Roseanne, and ALL strong women. 💗

Tyler Perry called this woman and offered to get whatever money she was owed and she and her husband recorded him and were too proud to really hear him out. Now she wants us to forgive Roseanne when she couldn't and hasn't forgiven any of these people who wronged her. This is pathetic. All this sermonizing and still broke. They're black balling you now bc you are difficult to even speak with yet alone work with. This press tour she's been giving is one of the most destructive attempts I've seen to destroy one's own career. I honestly don't even know what her endgame is. I don't think she knows. She just talks in hateful circles. What a waste of tine and talent.

C Walters equal pay for black women and men who accomplish the same (aka Oscar winner) things in Hollywood as their white countparts. It's not hard, you, just like most of Americans, allow the media and the perceived public opinion to guide your thoughts and actions instead of critically thinking for yourself.

Well, Tyler Oprah and Lee don't own her any money, true, but she did not own them any promotion for Precious overseas, she did it domestically and that was it, no further obligations contractually. She did was she was contractually required to. Now when the movie started to get hyped, they wanted her to promote it overseas for free, while they were getting additional cash. This is where she required additional money, which is fair and comprehensible. Do you think Amy Schumer is promoting her movies for free? Or better, do you think they would even dare to ask a white actress to do it?

How do you figure she broke? Pretty sure she has more money then all of us on this post... Shes far from broke but just as far from oozing in money. You cant forgive someone who is actively hurting you and created a decade long problem for you privately but then speaks highly when asked if they did those things... Whats donr in the dark will come to light
