This presentation is outstanding. It ought to be spread far and wide. I am a Pasifika counsellor with 3 decades working across justice, mental health and addictions, including residential rehabs and will share it. Fa'afetai tele lava Dr Jackson.

and don't forget those who were 'lost' and there are no records for these children whilst they were in state care. As soon as they turned 16 these state wards were discharged absolving the Govt from any responsibility. They threw these kids away and many surfaced in other govt depts and not to the benefit of the kids. We have become a source of income and revenue for many. We have been used as pawns. No Govt has had us or the land's interest in the forefront other than for their own gains.

I know that Moana Jackson's humility would eschew such an acknowledgement but I truly believe that he should to be remembered on the same level as Dr Martin King and that a day of deep observance should be established by nga iwi o Aotearoa in his name. His expansive scholarship, intelligence and vision of the past, present and future based on truth, honesty, ethical conditions but mostly kindness, are unsurpassed. I am surprised that he has never been considered for a knighthood. Nga mihi nui ki a tenei rangatira.
