Moana is the kind of movie I can see myself watch time and time again. I might be weird, but I want to go to Polynesia even more now after Moana. I've wanted to go to Polynesia, not specifically for the culture but the islands, the heat and nature. And Moana which is a very great movie made me want to go there even more! And now with the culture added to the "why I want to go there" list.

It would've been nice if someone danced a taualuga with the full taupou ofu & tuiga since Moana wears it in the movie & her character custom is based off the samoan taualuga & samoan matai as well as added a piece of diff island culture frm Tonga & Aotearoa as well..

The Hollywood tune will change for the better with the Polynesian Love and Charisma, as Moana takes the stage from Disneyland and the demigod as the Rock! About time to bring God and His love to America and not a fake one as it always has been. This is GRAND!!

fyi, all the navigation skills were lost.... Papa Mau(Micronesian) brought it back... the film itself is beautiful, thank you Disney and thank you pacifica, although the correct term would be oceania.

Navigation skills was not lost we still knew about this knowledge. It just wasn't being practiced because of the revolution of modern technology and now we have airplanes. People from hawaii simply stopped sailing... and papa mau brought it back... just to prove that people can sail the pacific ocean using the old ways of polynesian navigation.

My mom talks "normally" almost always but when she gets together with or talks on the phone with her family from New Jersey her Jersey accent starts creeping back. Not everything is a "fake accent" just because you never heard the person speak like that before, lol. Just saying.

+Jim Holden Pocahontas was all about colonial era Europeans and their culture coming over and blending with/dominating the Native American culture. If you want a story in the colonial era to only take place in Europe (if that's what you're asking for, if you think Pocahontas "doesn't count") then what's the point of it taking place in the colonial era in the first place if you don't travel (in the story) to a colony or attempted establishing of a new colony?
