glad you love the mobile tripod. since it came out, I've said it was the best accessory ever for an iphone (and pushed it to abba in november at the fcp summit). I use it with the great peakdesign iphone case, which has a great locking capability which they use in their other mobile accessories for bikes, motorcycles, etc. the one thing I wish was different was that there was a mobile tripod that, like these other peakdesign accessories, allowed to lock onto the case. that way you could hold the tripod without the phone falling off. it will stay on up to a point, but can easily break loose and hit the floor. someday I'll try the clip--it just seems so awkward unless your using a tiny camera with a tiny lens. I don't mind using a strap. it also gives me something to wrap around my wrist.
I am using the camera capture clip for several years and very happy with this product. The arca swiss plate from PD is on a lot of my gear, as my tripods, cameras, iPhone clamps, shotgun microphone etc. The iPhone is indeed a nicely minimalistic design but not very handy for vlogging.
This is awesome, Mark. I'll be heading to Acadia National Park and the surrounding area for 12 days this summer and always like to have both my iPhone and my mirrorless available to me. And sometimes you need both hands to navigate up a rocky incline or to hold on to something as you traverse the terrain. Plus, you sometimes need to place your phone in a position for capturing a still or video clip that you want to be in yourself. Both these items look like great problem-solvers. Thanks for sharing!
I will have to check out the mobile tripod, but I have been an all-out PD user for years. I love their straps (hand and shoulder), etc. Their travel tripod is so great that I sold all my other travel tripods and only used the PD travel tripod. It is light and easy to set up and tear down. PD is great gear.
The mobile tripod info says works with MagSafe, does this mean it won’t work with a plastic cover already on the iPhone? It’s a great tool. I would probably use the clip on the belt for an iPhone while I’m shooting with another camera so I can get a second angle, if the iPhone will clip to it..thanks for the great video on both products.
