Hi Nick, I really enjoyed this 5 min update. It makes me feel like my finger is on the pulse of the micro FPV industry. I would love to see you dropping these updates in a couple of times a week. Its adjustable to a degree. There are 4 screw holes at the rear of the canopy to change camera angle. Not as much adjustment as a screw mounted camera though

Happymodel always makes good whoops. I have a Snapper 7 and a Mobula8. The Snapper's retired, but it was a real beast. The Mob8's my daily driver. Ya can't go wrong with Happymodel.

Gotta say, I'm most happy with the new camera. Way better than the Runcam Nano that they've been going with. Also hoping that the new canopy doesn't have stupid mounting on it. I loved the shock absorption of the old canopy, but it required a pretty specific adapter to mount anything in it.

Last word I have is that this is delayed longer than expected. They are making a new frame for it, the frame is to be lighter and potentially more durable.

Great review!! :) So do you put all your batteries on the charger to bring them up to storage voltage after flying? It's easy on a 1s, but 2s or more it can be a pain. Well it is a pain with 2s-6s charger.

Yes, not immediately after the flights but generally on the same day. I either change them fully or storage on the same day.

Besides the Mobula6, I believe they will introduce new versions of the Mobula7 and Mobula8 as well. I know that the new Mobula8 will come with a serial UART receiver. This was announced on their website on November 16.

Sweet i forgot fxt was even around. I finally got back in the air after having to sell all my stuff due to medical bills issues ect.. but i been down over a year and finally got everything to fly sadly im gonna need a new controller my old qx7 is on its last leg the jr port dont power any module on and now it hust started shutting off when it wants thank goodnrss i only fly micros lol thanks for sharing Nick

Your battery management surprises me a little. I've watched lots of your videos and I don't remember hearing you explain it like this. So, you fly so that when you land and the battery voltage rebounds, it comes up to 3.5v? I've been told that can damage the newer folded-cell packs, so I've been flying to 3.5v and watching them rebound pretty much back to storage voltage of 3.8-ish volts. What batteries are you using to fly down to 3.2-3.3v? (Just went back and read you're using weBLEEDs in this video. Is that what you use mostly?)

I use almost exclusively the folded cell 1s batteries, from webleedfpv, tinywhoop, newbeedrone and a few tattu. Yes, I do try to manage the battery they way you have described it. If flying below 3.5v damages the battery it must be so small I can't see or detect the damage. In general our 1s batteries have a more limited life than larger batteries.

That canopy actually looks different fron the Betafpv light canopy. It has a little more material in the front and doesn't look like it has a screw to tighten the camera the same way the betafpv one does. Camera also looks decent actually thought hard to say what FOV it has - I think that's a deal breaker for me cause I fly very small spots like my room...though it wont be hard to just replace it with a foxeer pico. 3 mins on a 65 whoop at that speed is actually impressive and I wonder what kv it has maybe around 22000 to 26000kv perhaps.

would like to see you getting bluejay on it and see flight time. my mob6 from 2021 has 3:30 flight time with it on tattu 300. i think its decent. this one should even go to 3:30- 4 min. love to see A30, love to see uart rx. now wanna see them changing this frame :D

They couldn't release this before whooptopia 2024? :P So many questions, first looks like the lens on the FXT camera here has a lot less distortion than the pinch, did they finally add distortion correction or is it a narrower FOV? Did happymodel fix the biggest issue with their 5 in 1 boards where after a few times getting hot (ie sitting on a race line for a long time because someone put in a dead battery or something) does it still hold at least 25mw or does it freefall and you can't see your video as good as the adjacent channels? Does the frame still have the weak point where it separates on the strut? Which gyro is it on? All questions that are fine to await until the full review to find out

I really don't know. I am not all that familiar with FXT cameras. I mainly think of FXT as a screen/box goggle company. For all I know FXT makes cameras under other brand names. I am told its new....that's about as far as I can go at this time.

I fly my 1s batteries down to a constant 3.05 - 3.10 V. Supposedly they say only below 3.00 V is really harmful...

I presume 75mm? No, no word on that. Happymodels history is 65mm first then several months later a 75mm. If I were to bet, I think it will be March or April for a new 75mm...if there is one.

Small observation: your battery recovered very nicely but I noticed it dipped to 3.16V and 3.17V near the end of the flight. Does that seem low to you, under load? Is there a chance that the new board may be stressing the battery just a touch more, or is 3.16V common for your flight style (recovering to 3.5+)? Would be interesting to test this against other whoops. 3.16V seems OK, but under 3.1 is pushing it in trying to preserve your batteries. Maybe I'm being anally retentive; batteries are 5 bucks each, so if it lasts a week less, it's not like killing a 6-cell on a 5-inch.

Its fairly common for me in the traditional 65mm format when I am flying like this, with ph2.0 its far worse.

thanks; will wait for the full production; though I still like my Mobula 7's performance better. IMO the 65mm needs to go on a diet to really be efficient... will see how it handles prop wash when you do the "official" review with some outside flying.@@NickBurnsFPV

I dropped a 2s to 2.9v and it didn't care. On this flight he actually disarmed early. Funny, before I flew FPV I didn't even know where my voltage was just flying LOS and never killed a battery. I think maybe we care too much? 😆

ah i just bought a mobula 7 1s elrs i couldn't find anything better prebuilt and i couldn't find an fc with vtx and UART elrs rx either do you think there is a 75mm version too?

I think there will be. Typically happymodel follows a new 65mm with a new 75mm 2-3months later.

I have them on my Mobeetle but honestly I much prefer 0802s or 0603s, even with the biblades on the Mobeetle the 0702s feel underpowered. Not like it slows it down in terms of outright speed with that crazy high KV but the punchout feels very muted, it's caught me out a few times. Anyone else struggling with this, or am I just not being aggressive enough with the throttle? I'm a veeerrrry sloooow pilot generally.

Happy to know this is coming. I have been flying the Meteor65 and was looking at getting a Mobula6 to stretch out. Tiny whoop FTW! They are cheap (relatively), durable, and not so dangerous to people or things. The only downsides are the short flight time and the challenge of even the slightest breeze.

yes, wind is not whoop friendly. But they are far better at handling it than they were years ago. Well everything, not just whoop, are better at handling wind now days. :)

A well-tuned whoop, even a 65mm one, can be flown quite well in wind, so long as it's steady. And in a 75mm whoop I've raced a police car doing 18mph down the street at a 15mph headwind ... and coming back up with that as a tailwind was a different kind of fun :P

I get about 4 mins of super hard ripping or 6ish mins cruising with 27000kv motors and a 680 mah gnb battery (also use the a30 or bt2.0 connectors)

@@parkourguy5903 On a mobula 6? The Meteor65 battery cage will hold ONLY the 300mah from betafpv without doing major surgery on the frame. I get about 3 min on that. The Meteor75 will only hold a 550 mah from betafpv, and that gets 5-6 min. They really should be more friendly with the battery holders on these!

I can fly my Mobula8 in moderate wind. Yeah, I can really feel it, but it's not impossible. Sometimes I'm at a 45 degree angle just to go straight, but it's fun. Don't know what a 65 would be like, but 65 seems more indoor oriented.

I hope they've sorted their quality problems out. I went 0 for 3 for Mob6's that worked out of the box. Wires soldered to the wrong pins, DOA VTX, etc. I don't think I'll buy a BNF from HM again.

@@NickBurnsFPV Eventually, yes because the store passed the buck. They were unhelpful bordering on malicious. E.g. for the VTX, they wanted to exchange just the VTX (via me desoldering and disassembling it). That would make sense if I was DIYing things but I had already dealt with 2 other laughably mangled Mob6's out of the box. I had run out of patience. I've previously been very happy with my other HM stuff: Mob6 analog, ELRS, Mob7, Crux35, etc. But that Mob6 HDZ was nothing but cursed.

Running full power on the vtx a lot? I've not had a single vtx failure on all 6 mobula6 fcs I've had. I fly at 25mw though

@@Tokyo_Dom Yes, I do run at full power but I never let it sit very long. Maybe I should try lower power flights, I have the Bassline and I’ll try lowering the output. I lost my Mobula cruising a mountainside after 1 minute I lost all video and I wasn’t able to recover it.

@@WildCaptures damn that sucks. I found that even on 25mw I was going further with less breakup than any of my other whoops. More power stresses out the vtx for sure, results in lower flight times and isn't friendly to other pilots so I keep it at 25. You can set up switches to change the power if you think you might need more power midway through the flight.
