The only thing the mad scientist mod is missing is being able to run up on NPCs screaming "I'm going to put my quantum harmonizer in your photonic resonation chamber!"
There's also a mod called Mad Science that's perfect for the category. Basically, once you take a perk, your character will start taking (literal) note of technologies they encounter throughout quests and exploration, and come up with crafting recipes to use those technologies to your advantage. For example, encountering any of the game's forcefields will lead to a note about making a personal shield. That's not even the most fun one, no spoilers!

Apparently obsidian was going to let you play as a ghoul in New Vegas as well as a super mutant but bethesda said that would be too hard to implement and while they were right about playable super mutants being too hard to implement they basically lied to obsidian about playable ghouls and obsidian didn't figure that out until it was too late to implement it. At least that's what I remember so if I'm misremembering something feel free to correct me.
From what I read from Wiki the problem supposed to be that adding playable ghoul and super mutant race would require to make models for armour for them, it makes some sense since we can see that ghouls can clip through their clothes in game and super mutants use diffrent armour, I belive however that real reason was that game would require around 3X more dialogues lines from NPC where they take notice of whenever we Play as human, ghoul or super mutant and adequatly change other lines to fit in certain circumstances which would take too much time to fit into arleady tight deadlind
They never lied to them about playable ghouls or super mutants. They heavily recommended not wasting time on implementing other playable races because they would need to make all armor in the game compatible with ghouls and make entirely separate models for super mutants. On top of tripling the amount of work there, it would also triple the amount of work needed in dialogue so the game can properly react to your chosen race. Bethesda did not lie or cheat Obsidian, they were simply warning them to not bite off even more than they can chew. (which they ended up doing anyway despite cutting back in this case.)
Not being able to sell junk ruins one of my most immersive playthroughs: hobo bill. He was a pacifist who sold cans and bottles for food money. Except even in hard-core mode it was super easy to become massively wealthy this way.

just an FYI the smoking mod has a bug where your character disappears at certain angles in third person with the lit cig equipped. multiple people have reported the issue and it's reproducible in multiple locations. just in case it happens to you and you're confused on why
Always found it a little odd how New Vegas never gave you the option to play as a ghoul and maybe have NPC's react to that. Getting less caps from people or something to show that some people still don't like ghouls. Just something
But maybe to balance some ghouls will be more likely to help you, or maybe ghoul vendors would cut you a deal and possibly some unique quests. So much they could have worked with
unique quest and item by ghoul vendor , unique hate by normal vendor , imagine a speech where you have to bergain to have acces to trading ( like people dosn’t want to sell you stuff at first , and then asking you for quest , money or speech competence to passby)
I did a playthrough using the Ghoul Player mod and Robco Certified and it was a ton of fun. I roleplayed as Mr. House's insane step-brother (the one you read terminal entries about in H&H Tools) who had become an insane ghoul. I also used a tin hat mod and Wasteland Defense settlement making mod and just went around doing crazy shit, like wiping out the Vegas families and NCR forts. I ended the playthrough by going through Dead Money and siding with crazy old Elijah at the end to wipe out the Mojave like a crazy person. Was a really cool playthrough.

What's great about NV is that I've never needed any mods to enjoy this game or to feel immersed. Every other Bethesda FO needs at least a dozen mods to feel playable.

The Imaginator is a pretty cool visual mod. Very customizable,isn't an ENB,looks good,has presets if you don't wanna mess with it,isn't demanding and it isn't an ENB. What more could you ask for?
I'd love to see you cover "Deus Ex Weapon Spread". It's a good mod if you wanted there to be a punishment for using weapons you aren't skilled with or strong enough to hold, but doesn't outright stop you from using them.
He already covered a similar mod called "Weapon Requirements System" in a different "Make FNV An Even Better RPG" video he did. The mod by default uses a percentage basis to determine how bad weapon sway, recoil, and reload speed are.

Loved the New Vegas bounties series but last time I'd tried adding back into my game (about 2 years ago) it didn't load & a lot of textures around the Mojave would just disappear, had to wipe all my New Vegas content & reinstall everything from scratch 😔
To anyone looking for good, underappreciated mods, the author Ashens2014 has some really great animations for various worldspace items. Really helps your game feel more alive

You just know Bethesda is going to do a rush job again with 5. It's so predictable I can already see the Modders cracking their knuckles in preparation to fix the buggy spaghetti code Bethesda uses. That and it'll be another perk/stat change. Who knows, maybe we'll actually get SKILLS back, but I doubt it. People were PISSED when 4 cut them out. i came across RobCO Certified more than 2 years ago, what an absolute legendary mod. wasnt able to do much while in the first half of my TTW run, but i still had a horde of Lobotomites at my disposal and they also held onto my junk.
RobCO Certified focuses on the Science and Repair skills mostly, try updating to the latest version 1.21, you should be able to start getting perks as early as level 2 when you have 30 Repair and 30 Science. they are perks you pick when you level up, you can even learn to control robots from Old World Blues. you can have an army of Robots that you can even pack up into your inventory and do DLC with. as a plus, you can have a bigger party of Companions than normal as well.@@markkarl2488
be awesome if one of them smart modders make a horse mod. can't be a cowboy without a horse. since it's a post apocalyptic game, have the horse be a cyber horse or something. and to get that cyber horse, there's a quest that involves the Brotherhood of Steel....oh my God, a cyber Shadowmere....Shadowmere from Skyrim, just import that to Fallout with some cyber parts like the cyber dogs. yeah, then you can do quests for the (Dark) Brotherhood of Steel and you'll be rewarded with the cyber Shadowmere just like in Skyrim. since it's the same engine use for Skyrim, i'm pretty sure someone smart enough can make a horse mod. i mean, there are motorcycle mods for Fallout New Vegas, so you can cruise around on a motorcycle through the Mojave. but to get that real cowboy feel, you need a horse. oooh, here's some other ideas, have the horse be Mr. Ed, the talking horse. a horse is a horse of course, no one can talk to a horse except for Mr. Ed. or the horse from, Bravestarr....eyes of the hawk, ears of the wolf, speed of the puma, strength of the bear. BRAVESTARR! if you know nothing about Bravestarr or Mr. Ed, you're not an American. so go make this horse mod.
Regardless of whether you can avoid the sketchy content or not, I feel like we probably shouldn’t be endorsing mods made by and for pdf files. Plus if there’s no way to meaningfully change the way the game plays to react to you playing as a child then there’s really no value to it anyway. Bizarre way to end the video.
I dunno why but I find it funny & a bit adventurous to play Fallout as a child. I’m not a PDF file. In my mind it’s like you are this underdog in the wasteland. And it’s just goofy I like it I don’t really know why.

Meh, I don't think it should've been booted off the Nexus. Sure, it has a bit of skeeviness to it, but it's fictional and people ought to be able to make what they want. You can certainly judge them, but pushing to ban something because you don't like it is a snowball you don't want to push downhill. I'm heavily against censorship and believe even "small changes" are unacceptable because it just leads to people pushing it little by little. Call me whatever you want, but I'm a firm believer in Freedom of Speech, even for people I don't like or agree with.

I want to use the 'Banned for Life' perk for a raider/outlaw character, but I've heard the more perks + traits mod is outdated and broken? 'More perks re-imagined' hasnt ported that particular perk over yet either. What would you advise?
Since you mentioned mods that let you play as a ghoul, I also want to add that a few days ago someone released a mod that lets you play as a Ghost Person from Dead Money (name of the mod is Ghostification - Playable Ghost Person) It even lets you use their moveset and iirc it makes you immune to the Sierra Madre cloud and makes it so the other ghost people ignore you for immersion
