2:08 just to clarify something: DS4Windows is not necessary anymore. Steam can detect a DS4 and you can use Steam Input instead. a much simpler process and requires no driver fuckery.

there's two types of people. 1. People who weep when they hear NieR 2. People who frequently have "2B, A2, YoRHa Commander" in their browser history.

The 2B Hook mod completely rejuvenated the game for me. All it took was using it to keep enemies within 3 levels of me so I could always have a challenge.

I Love you for bringing NieR:Automata to us in 2020. My all time favourite game.

That last mod is the only one you really need. Just replace everyone with A2 for best gaming experience.

Some notes: GPUnity's texture pack already includes a higher rez texture for 2B, and A2, Ones's 100% faithful to original. FAR is still necessary for any resolution past 540p actually - the game just resamples low rez into high at other ones, nothing was properly fixed. Playing at beyond 60 FPS is not really feasible outside of fooling around a bit in combat due to the fact a lot of animations are tied to the framerate, thus run faster the higher the framerate. The flying sections in particular are 100% tied to framerate, and completely break past 60 fps, there's some spots where you'll even take damage during cutscenes (or die instantly without any chance to move if your on harder difficulties). The de-banding mod you recommended using is not compatible with GPUnity's texture pack. And while sure most might still recommend playing with a controller, with NAIOM, the game's mouse and keyboard controls are great, vastly better then previous controller centric square enix ports. I'd even argue superior in a few areas.

I actually found that playing with a keyboard and mouse was easier than with a controller. Granted, this was only after I bought a mouse with additional buttons (which I bound to dash and use of the pod ability respectively). NAIOM is pretty much essential in this case.

Okay, I have to pause right at the start and revel in finding the one person who says Automata like I do. I've been awaiting this day for a long time now.

I don't think enough people have brought up how bad the PC port for this game is. Like when I put it in full screen mode I couldn't even read most of the text and the frame rate was super inconsistent. The FAR mod fixed all of that and it was super easy to install. Thank God for the modding community because this game is so much more enjoyable when it looks pretty and runs smoothly.

"modding Nier Automata" doesn't tell us plebs how to actually mod the game

This game and Persona 5 made 2017 for me. I still listen to both of their soundtracks to this day - 3 years later

For my most recent playthrough, I went with the NVO reshade, with a few tweaks. Clean was an close runner up but it, along with the other reshades, seemed to give the androids a fleshy hue. (I mean, it had to be there in first place, but they just brought it out a bit too much for my eyes) NVO is in the same spirit as Clean, but it kept a more porcelain look. Plus, it has Ray Tracing support. There's also an AI upscaled video replacement; up to 4K but back down to 1080p because reasons. AI upscales can leave a bit of artifacting around movement but I feel that this effect fits NieR perfectly. The Partial LOD Fix mostly just works in the City but it's a nice addition. Similar to your shipping crate example with the texture mod. And finally, for playing 21:9 or 32:9 widescreen, the Nexus has a 'Definitive' Mod List & Guide with fixed .exes in the files section that corrects stretching on video and menus. (There's a fairly new listing with the same/similar .exes but they have been flagged by the system and are currently unavailable for download) Unless, of course, you like your 2Bs extra thicc.

The FAR mod actually made the game stutter when moving the camera. Except the lagging cutscenes I had 0 problems with this game. Guess I was lucky

Great video. All the mods you mentioned I have used but out of all of them, NAOIM literally changes the entire way you PLAY the game. It elevates the entire experience from occasionally frustrating to excellent, which is a damn shame for those who don't know anything about modding and thugged their way through the game using the keyboard and mouse and the vanilla control scheme! Without NAOIM I don't think I ever could've finished the game. One mod you didn't mention is the one that helps you convert the video files to 60FPS, although I'm not sure if that's a mod or not

I know changing the menu is incredibly difficult But I'd like to have the option to add the suits instead of replacing the originals, I wonder why didn't they do it in the first place as a dlc, 2B deserved more clothes, also I recommend the operator mod, with that you 2B gets a cool light suit like the ones used by operators in the bunker, in exchange of the heavy suit, that should have been in the game

wait, why does 2B's skirt have those white markings at the bottom of it? for me there are markings there, but those are just slightly different shades of black (or might be a change in specularity or roughness of the material, not sure about that part) and I've double-checked this 2 seconds ago is that also because of the mod you have active that makes her textures have a higher resolution or have I missed a part of the game? because I went through the entire game, did every quest and got every ending (to my knowledge) so please tell me it's a mod thing oh, and: yes I will be modding it when I replay it as soon as I get a new pc

I LOVE fast action gameplay games like NieR Automata, Bayonetta & Devil May Cry! But unlike Devil May Cry & Bayonetta, I don't know, I feel like NieR Automata doesn't get as much attention like those games do sadly. This game DESERVES the same exact attention and praise! NieR Automata is GODLY! If you haven't played this game yet...WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!? Please do yourself a HUGE favor and plays this goddamn gorgeous ass game! Great characters, great story, great graphics, great gameplay, great music! One of the BEST games to exist! GO BUY IT! You WON'T regret it! :D

If you need these mods to fix a pc game, then you know something went wrong with the pc port. Simply put, lash out at platinum for not fixing it themselves.

As someone who is familiar with both xbox and ps4 button layouts, i truly feel superior

Creators name for the reshade preset is spelled jeyzedex, it's a Japanese car made by Toyota, highly popular in the drift scene

This game is literally the 1st one that i’ve played more than 60hours from 21th may to today!

It's amazing what reshade does to certain games, specifically games that look dull or cloudy. This game and the reshade is a perfect example of this, it's almost like fake HDR.

PS4 pro version has same buffer resolution bug as PC version does, effects are locked at 1600x900 and then upscaled to whatever resolution pro uses in automata, resulting in broken godrays and some other effects.

I just used FAR to fix the resolution, cinematics, global illumination, and bloom effects. The extra stuff mentioned here is very nice, but can't say I care to go any farther than I already have with fixing the game. The only exception might be the texture pack, I do admit the screenshots shown here do look very nice. Not sure if I'll bother though.

I would love to install mod that fixes Lunar Tear in 2B's hair, for usually it looks deformed, and returns to normal only in the elevator.

Just to expand a little, try using reshade and adding MXAO. It adds more ambient oclussion and it makes a lot of difference, game looks really good. Bear in mind, your GPU will take a hit as it is a very taxing FX.

Thanks for the PC controls mod. Although I came across this video while on my second playthrough of the whole game but yeah it was useful. Though the initial settings were also pretty good I didn't really have issues and I finished through A to E with the native settings for PC only. But yes thanks again. P.S. Not a purist but broke to not be able to buy a controller. In our country consoles and console, accessories are very expensive than PC.

Funny I just got this game last week and I don’t know wtf I was waiting for but my god do I love it, I have the FAR mod and the texture mod and it’s running at 60fps, sad that they didn’t do a proper pc release but the mod community saved it.

Well, a couple of Minutes ago, i sat down and fixed my Version of NieR Automata on PC. Installing those HD Texture Packs, which strangely were already installed, but for whatever Reasons didn't seem to work. After some Research and Toggling i got it to work. Then i installed that Reshader you mentioned and lastly that 2B Texture Mod(btw she looks great with it!) Everything looks great together, but my framerate dropped down to 30-36fps in Open Field. It's still playable, but for now i keep it like that until i get my new PC. Btw i REALLY like this Game! I can still entertain you. Even after so many Years. 😍

assuming i can use almost all these mods, especially the graphics related ones, can my gtx 1660 super still keep up at 60+ fps? Edit : btw im planning on buying a pc in the future and it'll include gtx 1660S thats why im asking rn

Does downloading these mods gonna affect the performance? like getting lower fps than no mods at all
