Super helpful and informative! I’ve been slowly modding a K6 and it’s great to see and end result of how nice it can look and sound. I’m also in on the Tentaku GB so I’d love to see what you do there. Keep making more content like this, I’m definitely subscribing 👍🏼
Tremendous video. Thanks for all of the work and time you must have dedicated to making it. Exactly the information I was looking for and couldn’t easily and clearly find elsewhere, all in one 16 minute video. Well done.
Michael Katz thank you so much for the kind words!! Glad to be of help! In the midst of working on the K8 build now and lots to share here. Video in the next few weeks I hope!
Great video and breakdown of your mods. I have a K6 too and I’ve done some mods as well. I’m still searching for that perfect keycap set haha. Also films do SO much to the typing experience and key feel. I can only urge to film your switches as soon as you can!
Great video! If you allow a humble recommendation, the angle of the camera (you standing with the desktop behind you) looks a bit awkward. Also, I would add more images/videos of the product and have your voice in the background.
I was interested in the 75% version. But usb placement and no barebones option is a deal breaker for me personally. Also try and force learn to use more fingers on your right hand, it’ll feel better typing when you do :) just a friendly tip!
hi! i have the k6 unhotswappable version and i just changed the keycaps, but my backspace button seems to get stuck a bit and has a rough feel..but the og keycaps doesnt have any problems. what could the cause be?
Ian Abella thanks for the question! Because the backspace key is a “stabilized” key it’s possible the stems on the bottom of the cap are a little warped and are binding up the stabilizer. I’m actually facing that issue with a key on my K8 I’m working on right now. Give it some time and see if it loosens up, or if you keycap set comes with a correctly sized blank you could try that key. You could always get the pieces needed to try lubing the stabilizers too.
D-One because I always used it plugged in to my Windows machine for fast switching I actually do not know! When my K2 was my main board I know I got around 2 weeks on the *lowest* backlight setting.
@@GM-wv1kj 1. It looks like you can! It seems to be a little thicker than what I used so may only need one layer, play it by ear. 2. You can find the keymap on Keychron's site for the combinations you use for the media keys. It's a little different on each of their boards.
@@_IanOfEarth Hi, you should do a video on how to turn up and, down the volume keys on the Keychron, I think the people would like it. Keep me posted when you do. Thanks. Also, are you on IG?
@@GM-wv1kj given Keychron already has the instructions out there I think I'll likely spend my time elsewhere, but a good recommendation if I have some spare time! I am, same user name there.
8:31 you don t need to worry about the battery heating up if it gets loaded with only a few milliamps.. This Battery will never even get warm (if at all then while charging).
Better safe than sorry! More worried about the slight expansion and contraction batteries go through over time, so did want to stick anything to the skin of the cell. Thanks for the feedback!
really informative and really easy to follow, logical progression. I'm currently doing a nearly identical mod except with zilent switches. I just have to decide on a keycap set to replace the stock set. BTW I was reading up on cherry profile switches and would maybe not recommend them for this board (North facing switches). apparently one of the rows for cherry profile caps will touch the top of the switch housing when pressing down, preventing full travel of the switch. just heads up if you were considering a cherry profile in the future.
Great question! Thanks for asking it. To answer your first question: iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max come with an 18W USB-C power adapter and a USB-C to Lightning cable. That combo out of the box will not work and you need a USB-C to USB-C cable, however I tried an Apple USB-C to USB-C cable that I have with the 18W USB-C power adapter and that combination does work just fine. I also tried the Apple power adapter with a 3rd party USB-C to USB-C cable and that worked as well. Do keep in mind that the USB-C connector on the K6 is slightly sunk in to the side of the case so is the end of your USB-C to USB-C cable is too bulky it may not fit. To answer your second question: I am using the cable the K6 came with as it is right angle so it points straight back towards the back of my desk. It is plugged in to the USB hub built in to my computer's display which is then connected to my gaming PC. Hope that answers both your questions!
you did a great job man. i really enjoyed your perspective, i found it honest and just hey, it is what it is and maybe this maybe that. comprehensive for the tgt for sure. i just bought a k6 as my foray into a personal/professional buy so i was right on tgt with a lot of your review. the sound tests at the end are really solid and its crazy how much the sound and feel can change with a couple of changes.
