You don’t know how grateful I am for this video. I to Had to replace my driver side because it was blowing out hot air when set for cold and was going to get charged about $50 just to get it diagnosed and another $100 to get it fixed. Then I did some research and found that it was the actuator, so I bought the part and replaced it, and now it’s working perfectly. Thanks for this video
Thank you very much for this information. This is a very complex issue that not many people know how to recognize in these cars. Dealership mechanic’s quote just for the labor part of the job was 700 dollars. I did exactly as in your video and I solved the problem. I have to comment that I also bought the replacement from Rockauto, there are a lot of replacements and sellers in eBay but at the end of the day pretty much none of them gave the exact part number as in the original one. Thanks a lot again.
I have to replace my drivers side blend door actuator on my 2017 sonata now after 5 years, this was very helpful to help me show how to line up the grey pieces! Thank you!
Funny enough, my 2013 Hyundai sonata hybrid is running into the same issue. Only cold air blows on the passenger side, not on the driver's side. Did you just get this part and replace just the driver's side? Also, my AC on startup does have a loud hissing to it. Not sure if that is an entirely different problem itself, but any insight would be greatly appreciated!
@@julianvpoloif you’re getting cold air on the passenger side then it’s probably a good bet to just buy this part for the driver side and see if that fixes it - that’s all I did and it fixed my issue
I have a brace around those 3 clips. After I removed the plugs I still can't get to the 3rd screw. Gonna have to take to a shop to remove the brace because I can't get to them without pulling stuff from under the steering wheel and I don't wanna mess anything up.
sometimes i have driver side cooling well, and passenger side, not so much cooling. replacing tis will fix the issue? This doesnt happen all the time though
It would have been nice if you had also shown the working system after you spent all that work installing the new part! What is the name of that part and how much did it cost you? For me to have an idea because I have the same problem in my 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and I am buying the climate control, thinking that is the problem
All I had to do was turn the knob to cold for driver and it worked fine. As mentioned in the title it's a blend door actuator with model number shown in the video, I do not know if the 2011 Sonata Hybrid uses the same.
Around $40ea, they are different, check Rockauto.com What makes you think you need to replace both? If there is no cool, then the compressor may need an electrical switch changed. Both actuators do not fail at the same time, driver's side usually first due to usage.
I suggest you work on the most likely cause. Removing that dashboard is a monumental task. I currently have what I believe are chattering blend doors or actuators in the dash for several years and they are still working.
@@Andrewsnotes1my sonata is also 2012 and it blows hot air even in the off settings. It’s so aggravating hopefully this will fix the problem. Great vid 💯
Thanks for the info . My question was related to the actual actuator. He just show where the actuator is located and what screws to remove, but he cut the video on how he took the part out ( what he used to remove the 3 screws.)

For my Sonata, the vents blow air when I'm moving at highway speeds even when the AC is off. Do you think it's a problem with the actuator or something different? When I set the knob to cold it blows cold and hot blows hot
