I'm the same age as the lovely Twiggy so in the mid sixties I really wanted to look like her, did my eye make-up the same but sadly never earned her money!! Most people identify with fashions and music that were popular when they were teenagers, but I do think the 1960s was a very special time.
she was simply the face of the 60's....cute and innocent and lovely - a true living doll...check her out in 'the boyfriend' movie in the early 70's - not the greatest actress, it must be said, but, visually captivating...i adore her even today..a beautiful woman, a caring, genuine woman...the best looking woman of 68 i have ever seen...an icon in the 60's, and, still is today...long may she rule lol
The obsession is primarily due to two things: the fashions and the music. We lived in the BEST time! (Incidentally, Twiggy also had a career as a singer after her modelling career ended. She performed under her real name).
In the 60’s the latest fashion was down the King’s road, Chelsea. Teenagers would walk up and down exhibiting their individual fashions. You models just shopping for the latest trend etc.
Her appeal is vulnerable doe eyed fawn on stilt like legs . Its a look that appeals more to woman and was helped by her ability to make the most of what she has , good timing and a great marketing campaign .
Super models aren't supposed to be hot. They're supposed to be unique. Kate Moss doesn't look hot either, but she has a unique look to her that some people apparently liked 2 decades ago.
