I want to reiterate that I believe whoever her dietary connections are have misled her and in that sense she is being conned. She is probably paying a pretty penny for nutrition consults as well. As a younger twenty-something without nutrition schooling it is likely that she is not aware of how unhealthy the diet is which can also be said about hundreds of thousands of her viewers. Also, I want to say thanks to Alex for sharing the original video to me that I would not have seen otherwise.

Good video, sir! Would love to see a video on cottage food industries and their impacts on public health. I know a few states have passed laws expanding these cottage industries, allowing people to sell foods they can or pickle themselves at a larger scale. Of course, this also means an expansion of people selling animal products as well through the same production means. PS: Glad you had fun in Yellowstone! Hope you got to see some cool wildlife, and maybe a wolf or two... may be the last time since Idaho and Montana are crazy anti-predator these days and trying to eradicate all wolves. Yes, I am wolf people.

I was prescribed a diet that just made me fat after an ED. It got to the point where the doctor weighed me, realised my BMI was 27 and asked if I wanted help losing weight right after I told them explicitly not to mention my weight I was there for birth control pills, nothing else. I just eat intuitively now. I will not eat until 8pm some days, others I might be grazing all day. I eat about 1200kcal a day but I’m 5ft tall and eat a lot of high fat and high protein foods like heavy cream and and cheese, Greek yoghurt, pancetta, have beef, pork, chicken, lamb, duck and seafood at least once a fortnight but have a decent amount of fresh fruit and veg too. I think people with (a history of undereating) EDs tend to see an ED in every skinny person that has an unhealthy diet. Even though many of them have digestive issues, sensory issues and/or low appetite (often due to chronic depression). Like most of the underweight people on Supersize vs. Superskinny are mostly surviving on sugar, caffeine and small amounts of fast food while cooking & eating just feels like an inconvenience to them that doesn't fit into their "busy lifestyle". They are basically disinterested in food while people with EDs are obsessed with food in some way or another.
@MsLinoi

I think there's a difference between saying "this is a pattern common for an ED / might be triggering" and saying "this person has an ED" for example, I have ADHD and sometimes forget to eat which results in eating a lot later... But I do not qualify for any ED!

Too little and too many nutrients story: Two years ago I was working out and eating “healthy.” Counting calories and minimizing my sugar intake because I was being “healthy.” I was dating my husband, and had a few convos with him about getting married. I was excited and happy. I felt full of energy. Except I hated my body. Instead of embracing myself and saying “I ran 10 miles,” it was “10 isn’t enough” and “I ate too much” when I had like a bowl of tuna and half a cup of rice. When I felt “hungry” I felt good because I felt like I was burning calories and fat. But it was sustainable. I was eating protein, carbs, fruits, and veggies. So I was “healthy.” Flash forward a few months and had a killer migraine that just wouldn’t go away (I probably get a headache once a year so really rare to have a migraine for me). After a week, I ended up going to the doc. They assumed it was just a tension migraine but did blood work just in case. The test results came back and the doc started asking about my lifestyle-workouts, eating, work, school, etc., and she sighed and dragged the chair next to me and stared me in the eyes. I had never been that terrified in my life-it’s easy to think you know everything especially when the people around you who are probably struggling with their own mental and physical images of themselves are broadcasting information. “You have too much potassium in your system. If you continue eating the way you are, you will quickly get to a place where there’s no coming back and you can quite literally die, Angela. Cut out as much potassium as you can and we’ll draw your blood next week, then start discussing a good way to pull it back into your diet.” I had been eating “healthy.” I was extremely confused, because I hate bananas so how could I be getting that much potassium? Turns out A LOT of good, healthy food has potassium, and a lot of protein powders do too. That day I drove to the store and bought Oreos, mashed potatoes, other “junk” foods that I have loved my whole life but had cut out-and basically ate those and some limited fruits and vegetables for the next week. Eating healthy is good. Getting nutrients for your body is good. But everything in moderation. If you’re eating cheese and heavy cream for every single meal, I think it’s time for you to start replacing those things with other fillers. If you don’t want bread, try rice. No rice? Quinoa? No quinoa? Beans. There’s always another option. After that experience, I found Abbey’s channel and few other dietitians channels who broadcasted ways to actually eat-not restricting, but adding. Their words changed my life and I stopped listening to influencers like Liz, who eat to sculpt their body in a specific way. I eat to fuel myself to do activities I love. I eat to be the best Angela I can be, not the best influencer-besides, if I wanted to be flawless, I’d learn how to use photoshop.

@taylorfusher2997 hey, i am interested in your point of view and what it is, that you are trying to express. The thoughts that crossed my mind when reading your comment were: when you described the diet of a bear, what you described is indeed an omnivorous diet. Not just similar to. But bears are omnivores due to their type of access to food. Bears, like all wild animals, have to adjust their diet constantly based on their region, the season, and general weather factors for example. There are many factors influencing what is available to them. But being such a large animal, they require high amounts of certain nutrients such as proteins and fats. They may not be achieve this on a herbivorous diet alone and therefore choose to eat fish, high in proteins and fats, as well. There are other reasons for this, but that is one thing to consider when comparing the omnivorous diet of a wild animal to a humans choice if following a vegan lifestyle. People are not limited in their access to food the way wild animals are. Additionally, we are able to gather information on what our needs are and how we can meet these needs with specific types of food. Dietitians are a fantastic tool to help achieve that goal. So while I believe that your idea was well intended, rethink the comparison between a bear and a person. Simple the question of access to food has a significant impact here on the choices we are able to make vs what a bear has to do to survive and thrive. Let me know your thoughts!

It's a real shame, and I can see exactly how she fell into the trap. This quack nutritionist put her on a diet that would satisfy her caloric needs and therefore make her feel good, and it consists mainly of high-fat "fear foods" she likely would have avoided during her ED so that she feels she's accomplishing something by eating them. BUT at the same time, there are so many intensely restrictive elements of the diet (avoiding carbs, obsessing over having unpasteurized dairy and full-fat animal products, fasting for extended periods of time - which probably makes her four-hour eating window feel a lot like a binging period) that appeal to the disordered side of her. She gets to feel like she's making progress and recovering while actually indulging in the same disordered behaviors that ruined her health in the first place.

The carnivore craze is honestly terrifying to me. I watch so many people post how they are doing it, I’m afraid of what we will see as long term consequences. Just watched a video where a woman who had a freaking stroke attributed her quick recovery to her carnivore diet…. Not the quick medical intervention, the diet is what saved her 🤯

Intermittent fasting and Keto for GAINING weight? Everyone is jumping on these fads to LOSE weight. I cannot imagine eating 2900 calories within a 4-hour window. That would be a whole day's worth for me in typical appetite-inflating winter weather. But I get my day's calories from 3 square meals (and perhaps a small snack or two) with a heavy emphasis on fiber-rich foods. When I eat that much, I'm typically getting double the US RDA of magnesium, 80 grams of dietary fiber, a few hundred mg of Vitamin C (just from food), and several HUNDRED percent of the manganese target. On bitterly cold winter days when I'm well over 3000 calories per day, I'm consuming 90 to 100 grams of dietary fiber and so much manganese that Cronometer flags me for consuming too much. (Fortunately, too much manganese is only a problem if it's from supplements, not from real foods.)

Some people have IBS and have a hard time digesting fiber, gives them gas, constipation, diarrhea so I can see why she thinks this way. Fiber is still the best thing for us. I am able to digest it with the help of probiotics, both foods (vegan yogurt, kombucha, kimchi, sourdough bread) and a pill (bifidobacterium), but otherwise yeah, it’s tough for me too since I’m a C-Section baby, never been breastfed, and who has gone through a lot of antibiotics in childhood, every time I got sick. My microbiome has been nuked to hell and back, and even so, I still know that the best thing for me is to consume fiber, thankfully I can now do it without discomfort, but if I didn’t know any better I’d blame it on my food.
@Awperan
@Awperan Год назад
How long have you been taking probiotics? And can you quit focusing on them in the future? Or are people like us forever dependent?
@hugomarquez3189
@hugomarquez3189 Год назад
@@Awperan well I actually started taking them before I went vegan, like some 10 years ago. I started with Align and immediately I was feeling better, but align is kinda expensive, so over the years I switched to other brands on Amazon, but it didn’t solve my IBS-D issue, just the bloating. When I went vegan, 3 years ago, I stopped taking them, and I did well until last November or so, when I started having symptoms again. I tried with saccharomyces boulardii (I thought I was maybe histamine intolerant), and it kinda helped, but I continued going a lot through the day. Recently I bumped up my probiotic food intake, and switched to a bifidobacterium, and that did the trick. I know Align is bifidobacterium infantis (the kind you find in babies’ poop), but it contains dairy, so I buy another version on Amazon that is not infantis. It works just as well. I don’t think they hurt, so I’m planning to take them for a long time. They don’t seem to take root, just pass by, kinda like with probiotic food, so you kinda have to take them everyday. I also make sure to have some kind of probiotic food at different times of the day, versus just having them all at breakfast as I was doing. A few weeks ago I traveled internationally and I didn’t have my fermented food or brought my pills, at the third day I was bloated like you can’t imagine, and it continued until I got back. My body definitely needs the extra help digesting fiber, maybe I’ll get to a point where I’ll no longer need it, but this is what I plan to do for the foreseeable future. I have to take vitamins anyway, being vegan as I am, so an extra pill doesn’t kill me.

I don't know if I was C-Section but my IBS got worse after I went vegan. I finally contacted Gojiman on RU-vid. I ran some tests, talked with my doctor, and he helped me fix my SIBO. It does cost a lot to do the tests, unfortunately, and I had to pay for antimicrobials since insurance wouldn't pay for the antibiotic I needed. It wasn't a smooth ride but it was worth it.

Anyway as sick as I was, (besides the blood transfusion for anemia), I only needed magnesium, phosphate and potassium and I only needed those supplements a few times while in the hospital. So how could Liz be so sick that she needs 32 supplements a day? There's no way. Ive been a vegetarian/vegan for decades and i only take vitamin D because I read it can prevent reoccurring pneumonia.
@katfoster845
@katfoster845 Год назад
You should also take B12 if you're vegan because your body can't produce it and it's only found in substantial quantities in animal products. If you're consistently eating something fortified with B12, then you're probably fine too. I just supplement for B12 because it gives me peace of mind. But yeah, even with that caveat B12 and vitamin D supplementation is a far cry from 32 daily supplements.

Any unhealthy food like kfc, junk biscuits and cakes, french fries and junk seed oils contain huge amounts of PUFAs and actually very little, if any saturated fat. Pushing saturated fat as the enemy the food industry was able to sell cheap toxic PUFAs to us instead and skyrocket obesity over the last few decades.

But i did like the ADF lifestyle, so i tried to absolutely gorge on calories on the eat days to compensate, and keep my weight stable. This inevitably led to eating a load of saturated fat and dairy as it was much less filling. Anyway i went for my blood checkup a few months ago and my lDL was 150! So i've scrapped that now and am just fasting 1 day a week instead. And quit most dairy and replaced with nuts or olive oil. I do think the saturated fat was making me insulin resistant too as my morning blood glucose has dropped from about 95 to 85 in that time. Also I'm getting better gym workouts now.
