You lucky ****** That's an amazing find. Even without all those locos, it would still be a bargain. I'm glad to see it's in the hands of someone that can appreciate it and restore some of the dodgy items to give them a new life.
What an absolute treasure trove you've got there Tris! Some real potential in some of those items, and I imagine we'll see lots of the buildings appear on the loft layout?
Now that's a box of treasure I'd like to find on sale near me! I dare say I speak for many folks there. Okay there are a lot of 0-4-0 'Rockets there but the rest of the stock and buildings, never mind the track, you got your moneys worth there for sure. I'll look forward to videos on what you do with them, as will many folks, no doubt! I hope you get the little Smokey Joe running and it isn't smokey on the track! Nice one and thanks for sharing it with us. Much appreciated. Keep safe and well, sir. Cheers!
Ha ha yes I hope I get no smoke from them. Yes I’d like to put some time into them. First I need some time 😁 I’m glad you enjoyed engaging with the video 😊 take care
What a fantastic find, all those look as though they’ll run fine with a bit of tlc. Must admit I thought you were a bit ambitious setting the track up as you did, especially with the points, I would have set the train set oval up for test purposes. The Oxford Janus shunters are great locomotives, shame the handrails are all missing but for £25 with all the other stuff you can’t complain. Have fun fixing it all up, cheers Rob.
Some of the 0-4-0Ts are named after the prog rock band Marillion, Singer (Steve) Hogarth Stone and Guitarist (Steve) Rothery Industries. This has been quite common with Hornby, others sets of theirs include locos and wagons named after King Crimson and Porcupine Tree members. A designer at Hornby must love their prog rock!
Definitely some gems in there and it's good that you saved them. It sort of looks like they were 'played' with by a small child who managed to get hold of the paint cans 😄
Wow amazing tris £25 what a bargain shame about the flying scotsman and the deltic but I'm sure with the engineer background knowledge you have you could get them sorted and give them another running life. Still watching the video be interested to see if they work on the little set up you built.
Great haul, very jealous! We just don't have the spare/used stock over here in New Zealand - a like-for-like haul for us would cost about a grand plus postage!
A bout the Janus it is also missing its front and rear hand rails but you could pain some of the small coaches and wagons in to the BP blue to make it a train
@@OONeal I'm sure you are! I bet if you wanted to flip that you'd get at least 4x the money you spent on it. They clearly didn't know what they were selling 👀
Tris, super bargain! Got one couple of years ago, 1/48 scale B25 bomber, $4.50 CAD! Open box, lot of extras, total value just over $200 CAD. Finds like this are rare. Got in in a second hand shop..
Ahhh man, I thought we got a bargain with the wch set for £45!! Lol... Have you been able to open up the pug logo? I'm having lots of trouble. I've an odd 90s LMS pug and it's so easy
@@OONeal managed it. The Chinese built one needed unscrewing at the front, and then a little shimmy on the tabs behind the pistons. The British built didn't have the screw... I soon discovered that the purpose for the screw is actually to deal with the fact it's impossible to open these and keep the clips from breaking ;)
That was a very lucky find and at a bargain price. If you do decide to give some away I would be very interested in the LNER 0-4-0 as my layout with be a fictitious part of the East Coast Main Line I do have a UK postal address. Martin (Thailand)
Instead of selling the set, why not use as a basis to make a new layout to show just what can be done using just the contents...but adding full scenery?
If you need any help to get them all running check out "OOBill" on youtube. His channel is all about bringing dead models back to life, his work is fantastic. Films the entire process from start to finish. Works on both his models and his subscribers.
