I love how they got so many character archetypes found in telenovelas: The Protagonist girl, the Evil Ex, the Attractive Religious Leader, the Humble Handsome Ranchero Love Interest, and the Controlling Matriarch.

I literally _GASPED_ when the ranch boy revealed that the mother was his lover-

I felt so bad for them in this episode. I wished they got their baby boy earlier in the show, but I’m glad they got him in the end. It allowed for a nice conclusion to their story.

The scene next where Mitch and Cam are at a gas station is tear jerking. God I already miss this show so much.

2:40 is one of the reasons I love Modern Family. How quick they can switch from comedy to deep, heartfelt emotions and (often) not feel out of place.

As much as this is a very funny scene. This was a devastating moment for Mich and Cam

2:54 minutes of soap opera within a sitcom :)

The ending of this episode in the field was heartbreaking...

This was brilliant. When people shit on Modern Family, I think of scenes like this that are incredibly well constructed, well thought out and so very effective. They manage to use what should be an absurd moment to convey such heartbreak.

Sofia Vergara's comedic timing and expressions are truly so masterful. Marvellous acting 😍

This reminds me of a telenovela that I watched with my aunts when I was a child (like 4-5yo)and they were teenagers, it was in the 90s in Algeria (north Africa) so it was all in Arabic except for the names and the opening credit. It was called Guadalupe and it was so popular that whenever it was time for the show the whole family gathered around the old TV, even the guys who were like "pff these girly shows are so stupid" stayed the whole time and yelled at the TV at every cliffhangers. Even the commercials between episodes were related to the show like Guadalupe soap to have flawless skin like Guadalupe. One time we were at fricking wedding (and weddings in Arabic countries are huge events that last several days where you celebrate at the houses of both the bride and the groom) and at some point we were in the house of the bride, with all the family and guests then the episode of Guadalupe started and everyone stopped what they were doing because Guadalupe lost her memory after the accident and I think someone stole her baby, and Luisa was actually the one who killed Alfredo's father and at some point some woman commits suicide by drowning herself in the sea

Eric Stonestreet who plays Cam, is brilliant. He’s so funny but in a rare occasion, he makes you tear up. Heart breaking to see him rest his head on Mitchell at the end like that. You knew he was hurting

As someone who has a Latin soap opera obsessed mother I can tell you this is very true when it comes to those series Plot twists every episode

This is a problem when it comes to older men and women who shames their own children and grandchildren. The granddaughter was not ready to throw her life away and was not ready to raise a child, it’s her choice to give up for an adoption for Cameron and Mitchell but still her grandmother yet forces granddaughter to raise her child to continue on a stupid family cultural tradition. Her grandmother should understand what is right and let Cam and Mitch adopt a child, let her Granddaughter focus on her life and soon plan her own family in the future.

The most unrealistic part of this scene is how the spanish speaker is using "pounds and ounces" instead of kilograms.

Its crazy how I, while learning Italian, also learned a little bit of spanish. Once there where two classmates of mine talking in spanish infront of me having no idea that i could understand them. They were so shocked when i told them in italian about what were they talking about.
