If I remember correctly... Grist from what I told is the only Hivemind (that we know of) that got a spark. Because when Grist Planeswalks... the insects that (he? she? it? idk) controlled cannot go to the other plane with the spark so Grist has to then take control of insects on that plane. (Do the insects that were controlled before just die from brain death? do they go dormant in the ground like cicadas? This also was never addressed)

So they killed Tamiyo, then randomly decide to do a "memories of everyone young" set to bring her back.

Ral enters with as many loyalty counters as you could use instants and sorcery . So if could play 6 he enters with 8

Why does ral literally have loyalty storm? Also could you imagine if they ultimated him, casted the 8 cards, blinked him and then casted 16 cards?? I can't wait for mind's desire with rebound to be in the game

I play MH2 Grist as my main deck with a heavy insect theme for the +1, but MH3 seems less interested in insects and more like a GB zombie deck for reanimation shenanigans

Probably going to run the Grist card in my Slimefoot & Squee deck

It really sucks that modern is in the state that it’s in; my late-2010s self would’ve loved to try messing around with mini Grist in an insect deck.

Wake me up when it will be possible to play creature decks in Modern other than Merfolk and (in niche cases) Humans and Goblins. It's a sad thing that I could keep up with the format's power level playing mono green stompy a few years back, but now, even with new and powerful cards like Steel Leaf Champion and Questing Beast, such a deck is too slow even for Pioneer. Other options are simply even more broken.

Unrelated but i have to add another point to the Desolator is right about everything (magic related) scoreboard. I went to a Magic qualifiers event, in order to play some side commander games. Even in such low stakes these assholes cheat. I didnt realize until hours later. I as expecting high power bullshit so i went for my 100 different combo deck, mono blue artifacts with Emry Lurker of the loch. First odd thing i was accused of cheating when this nerds says my deck feels like its more than 100.... i double sleeve, doesnt everyone? Anyway, this nerds was obviously going to play something powerful. It was the try hard Krrk son of yawgmoth. After one mulligan, i drew into a god hand, i didnt even realize what i had. All my combo pieces were in my hand plus 2 additional cards that allow me to untap my commander. All i needed was to top deck an island, i did! I won by turn three. I had to explain how i can create unlimited mana, cast Walking Batista and deal a million damage to everyone. The suspected cheater was noticeably upset, i saw that in his soy infused scowl. He tells me had he had another turn he would have won. I was curious so i walked over to his side of the table so he can show me what he would have done. He had a Bolas Citadel in hand. He would cast it, followed by top decking a tutor. I didnt realize until later, how would he know he had a tutor on top? Maybe he stacked his deck in a certain way. I dont know if anyone cut his deck, i didnt pay attention, i didnt see him shuffling. Shit, the last thing i expected is someone cheat in order to win a measly couple of tickets. But alas, fuck that guy. I won anyway, turn three, luckiest opening hand iver ever had. When i did win i sort of felt bad, but said "i did offer to cut my deck, everything is fare and square.

(This is ironic because it's clear people care about the identity of fictional cardboard characters, where the people who boast about "ret-con"ing sexuality claim that it shouldn't be cared about)

Grist is the most annoying dumbass card in the most annoying dumbass infinite creature combo deck in modern and this new one is even dumber. Why im i not shocked wotc just keeps feeding it most annoying op modern decks and not helping fix the format
