Oftenly, people said that modern and tradition clashed when try to combine. However, here you can see a wonderful application of mesmerizing Maki-e art into the well-known Iphone's case.
In this video, you can see the many layers of the Maki-e paint is being painted.
From the first faint dark paint to indicates the shape of the art that will later on be painted to the final steps is a wonderful journey that I am glad to show you.
In the first step, the artisan draw on a small piece of paper as draft; after making sure that the image is as they wanted, a light Urushi paint is painted over the draft paper and applied softly to the surface of the phone's case. This step ehlps the artisan to paint the Urushi pant on correctly as well as exactly the same as the design that they would like originally. Then various of Maki-e lacquer is painted on afterward, some with details (eyes, fins, gold dust,etc.) added in the process. The final part is to polish the piece and the Goldfish is alive.
