Modern Warfare 3 Campaign is Horrible Trash 

I turned the game off and then uninstalled it after that first “open” mission. It’s basically a football stadium with a bunch of shipping containers stacked together. It was insulting . Never again COD. .

2009: no Russian 2023: no balls

Based on what I’m seeing, it reeeeaally shows that this game was supposed to be a dlc. Some of the missions look more like single player raids mixed with warzone

You know it's bad when IGN, who has never given COD below a 7-8/10, gives it a 4/10!!

Playing MW2019 and even MWII after this really shows far the story has fallen since then. We went from the gritty, unapologetic nature of 2019's campaign to playing a poor man's version of No Russian. What a damn shame.

Soap's death was wasted, like he literally died like an NPC,

MW3 2011: Fighting in literal World War 3. The Indian Mountains, New York City, The London Underground, The Eiffel Tower, D Day in Hamburg, Downtown Berlin, The Tragedy in Prague, Siberia and a climactic ending in Dubai. MW3 2023: Fighting in a generic open world map as if it was made by Ubisoft.

There's 3 three things you can't outrun in this world folks. Broken game releases from Activision, Predatory Microtransactions, and it's fans defending it to death.

Not only was the no Russian mission inferior. They had a better one in the game. It’s clear the stadium mission was an attempt at no Russian, but from the good guys perspective. They even reference how his original stated target was the airport not that far away

this is what happens when you don't vote with your wallet and keep giving these companies money.. they aren't forced to innovate and make good games anymore! such a shame!

What pissed me off more is that after Soap dies, it's literally over. It's not explained how the characters feel, what happened to Makarov, what Makarov's next move is, or if 141 is still even tracking Makarov down. It really annoys me about this new way they're doing things where they continue the story of the game in the Warzone / DMZ / Spec-Ops modes of the game. The Campaign is the story mode. It tells the story. What's the point of even having it if you're not going to give a full and solid ending to the events of the game. 2 deaths and the enemy escaping is not a sufficient ending.

so disappointed how did we go from mw2019 to this?

One thing that I hated was that there were barely any MW3 weapons in the campaign. It felt like 80% of the guns were from MW2. Every older CoD campaign is essentially a sampler of all the new guns you will get to try out for multiplayer, getting a feel for what you might like to use. What a disappointment and missed opportunity on that front...

How they decided this was good enough to release, is mind boggling. And the nerve to charge $70 for this is an insult

This campaign actually felt like an open-world stealth mission. It was terrible.

Literally the campaign was pointless. The crew is back in square 1, meaning Makarov is still on the loose and they still lost, only exception is they lost Soap. Dumbest campaign, I'd argue its even worse than Vanguard. At least Vanguard had a conclusion

This is why I keep saying stop releasing ANUAL COD's as they need more time to bake and it gives developers more time to work on the game. 4hr's isnt long enough even for Indie game standards, I was expecting 6-9 hrs of campaign at least but this was... Sad

Epic review, the only CoD MW3 campaign vid you need to see tbh. Addressed everything, I knew a lot about this game but learned even about more bugs with the vid lol, like losing the points errors from CoD games glitch

I hated the first two open combat missions with Price and Farah. But I actually liked Gaz’s and I thought Ghost’s was good too. For Ghost, something like that makes sense. He’s supposed to be the lone wolf of the team, so I didn’t mind it so much. My biggest takeaway from the campaign was that it felt like they were just getting to the good part when it ended. Honestly when the credits rolled I audibly went “that’s it?” Thinking there’d be at least one more mission with the rest of the team tracking down Makarov or one of his men or something. No conclusion to the story and no justice for Soap. The one thing I disagree with is the post-credit scene as it shows character development for Price. In the flashback, he stops Soap from executing Makarov because that technically would’ve been a war crime. Later, Makarov tells Price, “never bury your enemies alive”. So no-nonsense Price pays Shepherd a visit in the night, puts one bullet in his head and leaves. Shepherd fucked up and got people killed, and clearly what he said at Congress wasn’t enough to strip him of his rank and put him in jail, so Price took care of him before he could hurt anybody else.

I remember when the game started getting trailers and stuff and people said "At least the campaign is gonna be crazy!"

The timing couldn’t be worse. They are releasing the most underwhelming title in the franchise’s history during one of the worst recessions in recent history. This could be the beginning of the end for COD

There is an unwritten rule to play the campaign before the multiplayer mode and boy did it break my heart to see the original MW3 get disrespected like this

Bruh, idk why the hell they Naughty Dog-efied No Russian, Soap's death, and Shepherd's death, but they completely dropped the ball on this one. Giving the player control on killing Shepherd in the OG MW2 was one of the most satisfying ways they could've ended the 2nd game, but the fact they just killed him in a cutscene, without any of the player's control in this game, is one of the most disappointing shit I have ever seen.

I feel sorry for the developers, they were supposed to have 2 years and were done over by corporate greed! only 1 year is NOT enough man and it shows.

Love how nobody is talking about the massive plot holes and continuity errors and a general lack of knowledge on how the world works to a point where this is Avengers levels of stupid.

It felt rushed and the immersion wasnt there soap’s death was so lame everyones reaction to his was so meh

The Convenience of Makarov appear there at the end like that was mind blowing(further pissed off by the for shadowing of it) of all characters in the reboot they chose to kill off Soap AGAIN🤦🏼😤 and they still left out Roach. The entire "campaign" was completely anticlimactic

Holy fuck, I'm glad i watched this video. So I honestly only play COD these days for the campaign. While I was never considering buying MW3, even for the campaign, Im really glad i watched this video to know that I won't be missing much. As a matter of fact, i recently rebought Infinite Warfare just to replay the campaign of that game. Which I would recommend, cause the IW campaign is awesome.

Activision really has no idea how to make a good game anymore. The games are all Warzone focused, then it goes to MP, then finally to campaign and on top of that they're so poorly optimized.

Yes! 100% on the same page with you. I invest in the campaign for the characters, and the immersive story. If I wanted gameplay that just consists of running around the map and shooting people... I'd go play the multiplayer!! Everything about this campaign from the story, characters and gameplay was so lackluster and disappointing...

Bobby really wanted to pull a Ubisoft and release a dlc as a full priced game. I feel bad for Sledgehammer, because they’re just built for failure this time around.

Campaign felt like coop except for 627 mission

Think of where we were at this time in the og MW trilogy. The East Coast and Europe were on fire, WWIII was in full swing, and Task Force 141, the only people who could end it, were international fugitives on a globe trotting manhunt to find Makarov. Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer took chances and it paid off narratively, but not lucratively. They admitted that they could not make more games in the original series because the events in MWIII were so epic and grand, that the geopolitics from the aftermath of it would be so different than in reality that it could no longer be modern warfare. They are gonna milk this new series for all they can by keeping the stakes low and uninteresting.

Imagine playing a single player campaign like it’s multiplayer…

They did Soap dirty in this game and not like the first game this game was horrible it felt like they just killed him just because it had no substance and killing Shepherd was random asf they just destroying the Modern Warfare franchise leave it alone after this I hope they never return to mw1, mw2 or mw3 after this maybe mw4 or mw5 but leave the originals alone please!!!

and the worst part about this game's "No Russian" is that it is completely resolved and covered up by Farah and Alex in the next mission and nothing ever comes from it again.

This campaign feels like its a bunch of those warzone coop missions they introduced with mw2², hell even reusing most assets and maps from both mw and mw2 and then just slapping cutscenes into it. From the moment i got to play and saw that this is basically like warzone with plating and all that bs i knew i was in for a disappointment, i'm also pretty confident that all the subtitles are ai generated cause sometimes they are weird as hell

37 seconds in and I completely agree with that snippet of assessment of the overall experience of this game. I honestly think we need to petition for the developers to return it and say “start this one over and do it right. Finish this trilogy the way it deserves.”

They need to make new characters, and new stories. Im tired of task force 141 with the same villians and the fight for nukes or missiles. Its boring now

The issue is that it has no ending more than anything else for me personally. I had fun all the way until I saw the credits. It was so deflating. I also feel people that play COD for campaigns do so for very different reasons and things like OCM vs linear is too subjective. I have replayed 5 so far and it has been fun, just pure fun, especially the mission challenges, some are too easy but trying to shoot the gun mid air in the Mission with the paramedics was hard for me. I don't feel any game is worth $70usd in the 1st place but I would say blaming technical issues that affect some into an overall rating is ignorant. It is a 6/10 and I would put MW2 as 7.5/10 just based on "was it fun?"...

Done it on veteran. Open mission had lazy design and made it super easy. This was supposed to be spec ops missions at best

I get it, but the people that are surprised by MW3 being a DLC for MW2 are wild. OF COURSE it is.. MW2 was supposed to be a 2 year cycle and IW failed so miserably, Sledgehammer got tasked with cleaning their mess up. I didn’t love the campaign, but I didn’t hate it.

That whole resetting issue fixes itself and doesnt just happen to people playing the game. It happened to me yesterday. I was fully reset. So i went into a game of shipment, got a kill and backed out and it was fixed

I completely agree that the snow mission was probably the bets mission in the game, really the only not-terrible open combat mission was oligarch on the private island/ the only thing I can't agree with is Soap's death and how it didn't make people care enough and we didn't get enough time with him. He was basically the main character we played as throughout the entirety of mwII which is what I don't understand.

2:09 in response to this, all the previous mw campaigns had dialogue options that didn’t do shit, which also pissed me off about mw2 seeing as ghost literally says “Choices have consequences”

Yup, hit the nail on the head with this one. Anybody saying otherwise is on some extreme copium. As someone who stopped playing CoD for the multiplayer. This is extremely unfortunate.

I played the campaign, refunded it on Steam, and it actually worked so if anyone wants to do that..

I wasn't a huge fan of MW2019, but the campaign was genuinely a really good quality. Every mission felt realistic and handcrafted. Really cool settings, really good graphics, a lot of tension etc. But this footage of MW3 here looks like some weird combination of campaign and multiplayer. Looks really lazy and cheap. Sad, because outside of couple COD has always delivered at least decent campaigns, but even that is clearly going downhill.

Really miss infinite warfare... too be honest it was better than all this mess.. I knew once they released all those rappers skins and weird shit. It was the end for mw2 and this piece of 💩..

I think i know why it was short because its obviously a DLC connected to mw2 and its copy and pasted for what they did with the mission so apparently if it was an actual separate game then the campaign will be more longer but this was an absolute disapointment i didnt even have an ending all it was soap dying and thats it.

More time would’ve been amazing. Particularly I think it would have been better if Soap and Mak had a longer tango. And we got to see Soap giving the everything he’s got, Captain. And we slowly see that Mak has him outclassed as it slowly leads to his death right in front of us. Even more touching if they let us, as Price, try to reach for a gun or maybe a radio to call Ghost and Gaz into the room. But drawing out that moment would’ve have added so much to it.

People say Soap was done dirty, but what about Shepherd!? He was done 10x worse! The OG Shepherd was an unstoppable force to be wreckin with, he killed half of Task force 101 and fist fought the rest, he was so terrifying that Price and Marakov assisted each other on a call to take him down! Shepherd is MASSIVELY downgraded! Anyone else feel the same???

tbh i knew they would kill a character from 141 in mw3 cause it was becoming too boring that all members from 141 will survive and defeat the bad guys, since they didn t kill gaz in mw 2019 or ghost in mw2, now i didn t know which one was gonna get killed but after i saw the mission in the new mw3 that takes place 4 years ago, the interaction between makarov and soap made it pretty clear that soap will die. And they chose soap cuz he died in og mw3 and the devs probably thought it s gonna be an emotional one, but oh boy they were wrong. I also feel like the open combat missions are just made for the people that say campaigns suck cuz you don t have much freedom and it s boring to wait for the npc to finish a line of dialogue so that you can proceed to the next objective

MWII campaign was also filled with these open missions and I feel like they've been obsessed with it since. They should just let go of this idea and tone it down like Going Dark and Eembedded in MW19, just give us more linear scripted missions... even better if we have branching choices.

3 things that should just never happen is Farrah, foreign MIDDLE EAST freedom fighter leader out in the middle of the tundra, A FOUR fucking STAR general getting caught, and a combat retiree and out of tune agent on the field conducting a high class covert operation on Russian soil. Like this ain’t no kids tv show where they save the world everyday pretending everyone else are smooth brains.

About the No Russian mission, I honestly thought the game wanted me to get the phone back. So much to when Samara blew up, I restarted from my last checkpoint only thinking I failed only to realize it was meant to happen. Very underwhelming. 🙁 Imagine that your only "freedom of choice" in this campaign are OCM's that have little-to-no effect on the outcome of the story.

I’m the EXACT same. I clicked on this video assuming you’d just be hating on it because it’s call of duty and you hate all of them but I’m glad to hear your praise for the other two. Loved the first campaign, arguably one of if not the best ever. 2nd one was okay, a tad cheesy but I like action stuff anyways. But this… this was literally just spec ops. 24/7 sneaking. And then more sneaking. And then more sneaking. At one point it became intolerable and I didn’t return for several days. There are clearly real campaign missions, and then there are the “filler” missions. If I had to guess, being the money hungry demons Activision are, they simply shutdown any genuine efforts of a sufficient campaign. It’s so obvious because there are some really well done missions followed by a complete mess. It’s as if they invested too much into singular missions and panicked when they realised they’d only done about 3 of them lol

Mw3 campaign I enjoyed. Despite it feeling rushed. The open combat missions are definitely a way to make it longer. Just wish anything you found you would keep in that playthrough.

The thing about this campaign is that it doesn't feel like a campaing at all, those "open world" style missions feel like a DMZ match and it makes immersion totally disappear, in MW2019 you were always in a team, you were still special forces but you were always fighting along with someone, raiding a PMC base with marines, attacking a Russian air base with ULF, Opening your way to the hospital with marines on your back, Clearing a building with the SAS, etc, etc. Almost the same thing with Mw2022. But what happens with this campaign? You just drop alone in the middle of nowhere with a mission and that's it, that's literally DMZ, and when you are fighting along with an npc in this kind of missions they don't act like a team they are just brainless bots engaging random targets and that's what they are...

I am currently playing The Modern Warfare 2019 Campaign. Do I need to buy the MW3 in order to get connected with the story or no? After I'm done with the MW 2019, I'm planning to make a purchase on the MW2. I mostly play campaigns

As someone who hasnt played a campaign in YEARS, I liked the Open combat missions. 1 man army vs 50 and I was standing on BUISNESS. Going through blasting! 8/10 game.

Agreed, MW4 is going to feel so empty and strange without Soap in it, while Ghost, Price and Gaz are still alive. To me it doesn’t make any sense and because of that they just messed up the storyline. There was still a lot left to learn about Soap in this universe. I agree that if it was Gaz that went out in this game I think I would have been a bit emotional since Price has more of a connection with Gaz in this universe. If they were going to make a MW4 for this universe, in my opinion I think it would have made a lot more sense story wise if they killed off Alex and Gaz in this game. Then the next game Ghost and Soap die trying to stop Makarov, or alternate scenario would be that Price sacrifices himself to stop Makarov and then in the end Soap, Ghost, Laswell, and Farah would be the only one’s alive mourning that Price is now gone since he saved everyone else in Task Force. Soap had a different character/personality in this timeline, where ending him off early when we only knew him for one game, doesn’t workout for the reboot series, while in the original series it fit well because in the original we get to know him like a friend. That is what made it so emotional for me. Now that Soap is gone for MW4, I just wonder how are they going to make the story workout at this point. You’re welcome to agree or disagree with my view on what I think about where the series is at right now, that is okay I like to discuss this type of stuff where people have mixed feelings over a controversial topic.

Tbh its all the tangential characters that overcomplicate the whole thing. In the original MW2 theres really no signifigant dialogue from roach, ghost, or gaz it was always focused on soap and price and eventually yuri. Now you have to find things for 7 main characterrs to do so you dont have time to develop any one of them. And part of that is the diversity push since they HAVE to have a black,female, latino,muslim main character to make sure every single group is represented when Lazwell is more or less needless and farah works better as a partner for alex

I don’t know about open combat missions, I liked them because my favorite thing to do in games is kill the enemy, so I think it really depends on if you like both styles of missions, or if you like only smaller missions with dialogue, which I like both so I didn’t mind this campaign.

Can't believe this same dev team sledgehammer made a masterclass campaign like mw3 in 2011

Im very sorry that you got dissapointed, I think me and many more heard how much hope you had in the MW 2019 video, and Activision just dissapointed their fans one more time for money. It sucks that the campaign is unapologetically a DLC expansion of MW22 tacked onto a new game like 2019's Spec Ops mode. But even so, they could have done so much more with the little they had by being bolder and committing to the context of Makarov orchestrating terrorist attacks. Most of the missions are rehashes of things we've seen two games before. E.g, the stadium mission is basically Piccadilly from MW 2019 which took away from the impact those moments had. As Mutahar mentioned, it would be interesting to have an actual choices of morality for missions like the plane hijacking, rather than be forced to follow a script and be given fake options. Shoot a few to save hundreds OR not shoot but have a harder time getting through the hysterical people to get the phone and disarm the bomb. But ultimately Samara will still look bad since she would kill innocent people or be framed as an accomplice of Makarov by having the vest detonate. It could have been a diverging story path situation for alternate endings, similar to Black Ops 2 to give the overall game more substance.

To be honest. Really honest. Activision really screwed us players into thinking we would get an amazing COD experience. For 100 dollars we would get an awesome story, and amazing multiplayer. Played the beta, and story. The story was super boring compared to MW and MW2. MW3 was 5 hours, rushed, and really not suspenseful, especially the glitch that prevented us from playing it on release. The game is essentially broken. The beta was not impressive either, Felt really rushed as well. If activision could do right, they would refund those players with either cod points, or a choice of 50 dollars gift card to the platform you preordered on. 100 is an insult to the gaming community and this is a game I have preordered, to sadly PlayStation not allowing me to return due to playing the campaign. This is how they get you digitally. You play a trial of the campaign, only to be stuck with it if you don’t like it. Very boring and nothing new here gents. Big 100 wasted. It’s all pay to win skins and weapons. Story avoid unless you love boring stories.
