In this video, i will show you how I made this modern desk lamp from a leftover pine beam. It's painted with Matt black spray paint. For the light source, i use a 5W LED bulb.Thank you very much for watching!

Thank you! No, I've tested it after 8hours of use it barely got warm. I used an LED lightbulb in it.

Nice little project here! Enjoyed the music too...I used the same in my video uploaded yesterday. Seems like everyone is using epidemic sound now...I wonder if there is a way everyone can coordinate so we don't all use the same tunes... Although I'm not sure the viewers care or notice...

I love it! If I may add, if it were me I would add some kind of light refracting material on the inside like some flexible frosted plastic of some sort, so that the whole lamp has more of a glow rather than seeing the light bulb through the cracks.

Very cool idea! I saw the pics before and was wondering how you'd go about hollowing the wood out. Any ideas how to do this without a bandsaw? Interesting possibilities with large wood beams etc.

Thanks Alex! I would probably cut the back with a handsaw and I would drill out the bulk and chop out the inside with a chisel like you would do it on a Mortise.

Nice idea. Like the bandsaw approach. How about using a piece frosted plastic to diffuse the light more gently? That LED won’t melt it. I nicer finish on a cheap piece of pine would’ve even better, but that’s just me.
