Very nice fixtures there. Typical 'seaside hotel' that's reluctant to spend any money on the lift (i.e. "as long as it works it's ok"). But this reserves the character of the lift :) Would have liked to see where the motor room was, even if you are not intending to enter (i.e. a door at the top of the stairwell - also adds to the content). Sometimes it's on the roof and not much point of filming it I suppose. For me, it's the variety of different call buttons on the landings. Don't see too many of those mark1 Express buttons which are illuminating. 4:51 - very nice! The photos at the end worked well. BTW, it adds an extra dimension if you very slowing zoom into something in the photos, but nothing major, just gentle movements.
It sounds to me like the motor has been replaced. What do you think? I’d expect an old Express motor to be much lower pitched than this. The door motor seems replaced to me too, although I’m not so sure. I think that everything mechanical is replaced, and it’s just the cab, doors and buttons which have survived. I am very glad they kept the original buttons. Without them, I probably wouldn’t have bothered filming it.
@@Lift.Tracker the Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor hotel in Glasgow has Express lifts of this same vintage and I think the service car still sounds a little like this one.
@@Lift.Tracker ive heard some express motors that sound exactly like this one, so i think its the original motor, altho sounds like a variable frequency drive has been added.
@@wolfdevil9771 Yes, definitely a variable frequency drive. Maybe the motor is original then. I’ve just never heard any motor sound like that to be honest. I have seen old Express lifts in other videos where they were very heavily modernised (new motors), but they kept the cabs and fixtures original to preserve them.
Ah you been down my lovely hometown😂 This express is so interesting I remember when it was fully original motor is absolutely incredible I remember years ago this express used to be very glitchy at times and loved to try and crush people. Anyway since you came down Bournemouth how much crackheads did you see cause it was Bournemouth
