we purchased a Intex above ground pool over the shut down and decided if we were going to keep it we wanted it to look a little bit nicer and a little bite more modern, so we gave it a makeover
This looks amazing!!!! Looking to get the same pool, but I was extremely torn because I wanted it to not look like the typical above ground logo pool. Love the way you elevated your pool, perfect design!!!!
I know I wish I had filmed the process unfortunately we had the lumber shortage and there was quite a bit of downtime between finishing it… But I wish I had more of that detail I will on the future projects
@@The_Heightshi we are considering this brand pool. Is everything still holding up well? I was mixed with a few reviews on Lowes with this same pool. The complaint was about the pump but it looks like you replaced with a different one.
@@tangeeaugustin5994 ours is still working great no complaints but yes, you would definitely want to upgrade to a sand pump. A little filtered pumps that it comes with are no good. As long as it has a sand pump you should be all set.
I love this! We are purchasing a bigger pool next week and would love to build this on my own without much help from my husband. If you don’t mind answering a few questions for me? First off, did you dig holes for the fence posts? Can you please tell me the color of the stain you used? What are the trim pieces, metal? Where did you purchase those. And lastly, can you please explain how you accomplished the top pieces? That sit flat around the top of the pool. Like how you connected those to be sturdy. Thanks so much! Looking forward to hearing back from you.
Thanks ….It’s early American stain. The black trim is actually wood painted black. The top pieces are mounted directly to the top of the fence posts.👍🏼
Looks fantastic and modern, we're putting in a rain tank type of pool it's in one piece 3.5m circle and I'm looking at putting it half inground, find this wall very pleasing to look at.
Main mounting points are the tops of the fence posts I ran two by fours on the inside top edges of the fence posts connecting them to also give mounting surface for the top
LOL yeah, step-by-step would probably be helpful. I only made this video because I started getting a ton of questions on social media and it was after the fact… Good luck.
Hi, this is great. Can I ask for the posts in the corners and around the perimeter, did you set them in concrete or anything? Or just dug and backfilled with dirt? How deep did you go? Also is the pool in any way attached to the casing? Or it just sits inside of it freely? Thanks in advance! Hope you're enjoying it!
They are standard 4 x 4 fence posts buried 2 1/2 feet deep once it’s all connected together it’s extremely sturdy but obviously going with bigger posts just give that much more rigidity
This is super cool! I have a few questions, what stain did you use? When measuring the wood, did you measure a little larger than the pool? I was wondering how you were able to get it to be so flush to the sides of the pool. Lastly, is your pool right on top of gravel? Does that affect the smoothness of the bottom at all?
The stain is early American. I measured the perimeter of the frame legs to get my length and width so that it would fit tight to where the bottom of the angled supports hit the ground. And then use a deck board on top to fill in the gap so it appears to be nice and flush with the pool. The pool itself is on a leveled surface using dirt or sand the gravel is only around the perimeter to give the supports/legs somethings solid to land on.
Really glad i found this,.....you if anyone could answer or have thoughts on this,....do you think its possable to build the wood enclosure to fit the liner inside of,...without use the braces or metal frame,.......what you have here is exactly what ive been brainstorming,...but i want to build the wood enclosure into ,..and under an rv canopy i already have,...useing the already strong cemented in posts,...if anyone has advice or ideas or warnings about this please comment,...thx,......love the way this looks!!
I’m sure you could figure out a way to do it… However the way the frame works at a loss for the pool liner to expand and contract as you get in and out in the water levels rise… Hopefully you’re able to figure it out good luck
Fortunately I am in Florida so I don’t have those issues however even during the winter season here where I’m not going to be using it you can simply drain it completely and then refill it during the summer it’s not a lot of water usually runs about an extra $65 on the water bill that month
Your design is absolutely perfect and I love it. We have a very similar pool style about same dimensions and you gave me my next project to tackle for next summer. How is your winter over there, does it affect your components and liner ?
Thanks! We don’t really have winter here in Florida so it doesn’t affect much at all and the frame is oversize just enough to never touch or interfere with the actual pool or framing
This looks amazing. One question: how do you change out the liner when it is time? And if you have a failure on the framing structure of the pool can you fix it?
What are your thoughts on doing something similar with a round pool. My pool is 16 foot round. Perhaps an octagon shape box. How far in the ground did you go with the 4x4's?
I’m pretty sure all of the top flat surfaces are 2 x 10 except for the long side that has the actual pool pump. I needed to be a little bit wider to cover most of the pump so I went with a 2 x 12 I believe.
If you don’t have a skimmer that floats on top of the water leaving the pool open constantly just requires a lot more cleaning… But I don’t know that it’s necessary to have a cover or just makes things easier…. I just ordered a waterproof tarp on Amazon. That’s about 3 feet wider and 3 feet longer than the pool structure and I made the latches at each corner that holds it in place.
Do you have kids that play in it? This looks like an awesome upgrade, but i would be concerned about getting in/out. Milled/flat wood is slippery when wet. Do you have some sort of non-skid where you get in/out?
There is a ladder on the inside of the actual pool that you can walk up and get out very easily, and on the backside of the pool now there are two steps to get up and get in the pool, not shown in this video aside from that, the wood has held up very well… It was sanded thoroughly, but in general, which would you do need to be cautious overtime to maintain it
The structure would do find the pool itself I’m not sure you’d have to ask the actual company how they hold up in cold temperatures… If you drain the pool for winter each year it would probably be fine
Just curious when it comes time to possibly replace pool lining or need to disassemble and reassemble did you build the wooden outside so it's possible to do that? If so how?
Early American stain color… This is all pressure-treated ground contact wood, so there is some shrinkage overtime once the word completely dries out but other than that, there’s been no issues
Looking beautiful. Could you please share links to materials purchased ? Planning to do one. Also how is wood stacked side by side & how is that wonderful step made ? Thanks in advance.
Nothing in particular, other than you can just simply unscrew the boards on one of the sides if you needed access… Otherwise I drain the pool pretty much every winter clean everything and refill it the next season and when it’s drained, you can get access to it to check on everything if that makes sense
I just got one of these pool. Quick question: do the corner pieces lock to the frame or do they stay that loose to lock into place once you fill it? It’s like ridiculously loose idk if I trust it 😅
If there's no ladder inside how do you get out of the pool? Can you do a video on how you set up your filter and keep the pool clean? I'm struggling with mine and think I did something wrong
There is a small ladder on the inside in the water back to the average adult you can just hop in and out using the ledge… Just look up the sand filters on RU-vid there are a ton of tutorials on how to set them up that would explain better than I can
This looks great, and I’m considering something like this, since I have the same pool. My question is, since these pools aren’t meant to be permanent, what happens when you need to replace it? It can’t be easy to install one within the frame.
Everything is screwed together, so it’s pretty easy to just take one of the Long sides down to get in and out if you were to replace the pool I am on 3 years and the pool is still just fine no issues.
Super Awesome! I am thinking about the same pool except the 12x24. My question is how difficult is it getting out of the pool since there is no ladder? Thank you in advance.
