Murray cod opening day is one day on the fishing calendar that I really look forward to each year, but this year my enthusiasm was dampened when I slipped a disc in my back a day before cod opening.
By some kind of miracle I managed to salvage a Murray cod fishing trip on the afternoon of cod opening, and even managed to flick a few lures around for a little while.

Its amazing how much better a spot of fishing makes you feel ! 😂 Caught my first Cod ever on cheese yesterday, it wasn't big, but the two mud marlin were ! on cheese as well !

It's always interesting to note how often a fish will hit a lure right at your feet. Usually I'm not expecting it and it often makes a little bit of pee come out.

Take care of the back man. Backs are the worst. Ive got sciatica from a bulged disc. Thankfully workers comp (govt agency that handles workplace injuries) finally decided to do what i pay them taxes for and got my physical therapy approved and it is helping so much. It sucks and takes time but it is helping me get back to normal. I was so happy to be able to fish again when i could. Take care mate.

Thanks mate. We have workers comp here too. I'm so glad they looked after you. Mine is a workplace injury too, but sadly I can't just pin it down to 1 particular job, it's a result of years of factory work.

Thanks so much Sharon. She certainly does have beautiful hair. My back is actually heeling very well, faster than normal. I actually went kayaking this afternoon. My back hurt more driving in my car than it did sitting in my kayak.

Watching Bro use the net gave me flashbacks to the old days when the nets we had were like a light green with big ass holes that either the sinker or the second hook would fall through and then you would spend the next 15 minutes trying to untangle the shit. These new enviro nets look to be better to use though

Hi I’m glad you got to cod opening,sadly I have have a disc bulge for 45 + years from my sporting days well last week it decided out of the the blue to herniate hence I have sadly missed my cod opening and I’m laying back in hospital enjoying the cod opening footage having had an L5si spinal fusion.With a lengthy rehab ahead.Thanks for bring your opening to me and look after that back mate.

Top yella. Yeah she’ll (it’s a girl if I’m correct, blue/ purpleish tail). Reason why I say she, because of the blue tail. A great tip for yellas is: the females have scent and the males come to her (hence why you might get a few in 1 spot) but if she’s gone, then the males most likely will disperse. They’re super unique

Hey mate i commented on a video a little while back about coming up to Oberon NSW for the Redfin Roundup which was today and disappointingly i have to say it was the worst Redfin Round up to date there were a total of 24 fish caught over 2 days when prior years exceed 230 fish there not sure why but there is something wrong with the water at the moment and has been killing latge amounts of fish here. But some good news is even with the little amount of fish caught i still got 2nd place for biggest catch with a 40CM Rainbow trout and my dad got the prizes for biggest redfin, the biggest bag of redfin and the biggest 3 redfin total

Hey mate, my dedicated cod rod (baited with cheese) has 50lb line. The 6lb line rods are my all-rounders. Mostly for redfin and yellowbelly. When I do catch a cod on worms it's usually not very big. I never put cheese or any other big cod baits on my light rods.
