Congratulations… my media mod broke the little thing to close it and I was using it little door open… but still had to disassemble the role thing to battery change. Your idea will save me a lot of work.
Good vid! I have actually done the same thing. I’ve run into problems in a couple of occasions though when I thought it was tucked in flush with my GoPro but it wasn’t capturing audio. Hopefully I’ve figured out the right configuration and it won’t keep happening
Love this idea. Going to cut mine for motovlogging, I’m going to use something like a rubber band to retain the media mod, mines hardly carrying any weight except for itself and a 5” gooseneck mic. Media mod is already useless in the wet (shuts down in a drizzle) so as long as it stays in place and I can change batteries quickly I don’t really care.
I did this today after watching your video, thanks. I recently got a GoPro and was baffled by the poor design that causes the access problem. The stability of the USB C connection still seems fine for doing anything "normal", and if one wants to do really extreme rapid movement stuff, you probably don't want the media mod for that anyway... Great fix!
I love this idea. Maybe if I cut off even more I can figure out how to make this work with my Hero 10 and an Ulanzi G9-14 aluminum cage. I really hate how the Media Mod looks. The Ulanzi aluminum cage for the Hero 10 just looks so sick like it is ready for battle.
Sorry, I wasn't meaning the image stabilization. Im talking about the mechanical support for the usb c port that the media mod plugs into. It uses the part that goes around the body of the camera for stabilization so its not yanking on the USB port.
@@DougPVlogs @GearsandTech Guys, very interesting conversation, may I join in? I see MM8 for a reasonable money and prefer not to pay extra for MM9. Did you try to adapt MM 8 to GP 9 or higher? Is there any software pitfall between MM8 and GP 9 or 10? As I have Ulanzi cage too and would love to add an external monitor so I need this f.. MM ugly cage or a side part of it containing their built in adapter. So would love to hear your experience.
Thanks for referring me to this video. I subscribed again with my other Channel because I liked your videos so much and want to show my appreciation by subscribing with my 2nd channel. I didn't realize that was common with the GoPro 8 with the battery issue and having to pull it out. It's not cool when it happens when I am riding and I have to stop to pull the battery out to reset it so it works. I get lucky sometimes and I can hold the power button on the side for 30 seconds and let go and the next time I hit the record button it starts up. Sometimes pulling the battery out and reinstalling it or putting a new battery causes my GoPro 8 to start up in time warp and caputure video like that until I stop and start the capturing again. Neat modifying you did there for the audio mod. It looks like it works perfectly for you. I will leave mine as is but, I do like your idea.
In your settings you can tell it to boot up with last mode used. Or with a specific mode Change that to say always boot up in video recording mode Probbaly when you were power cycling it you accidentally tapped the button first to put it in time warp. Then reset it. So or turned on in time Warp. Go pro app on your phone helps a lot to monitor it as well
Its been so long since I've been in there. But it'll be general settings that you find swiping down, then in connections you'll find something about usb. Its in there I'll make a video later showing exactly how to do it
DONT KNOW IF IT A GOOD THING TO HAVE I HAVE SEEN COMPLAINT AFTER UPDATE FOR THEIR GOPRO THEIR MEDIA MOD STOP WORKING AS LONG THEIR A BUG IN THE SYSTEM THEN WHY BUY IT
still stupid if youre using it with a powerbank and need to swap in a battery to swap from chestmount to selfiestick in a streaming setup where you dont want the gopro to power off while doing so, the batterychamber should be open anyway to prevent overheating, the mod is so uselessly designed, just like the gopro 10 itself, i cant comprehend what kind of a bad job they are doing
I'm shocked that the 9 and 10 overheat so badly and they don't do anything about it Like seriously, make it have cooling fins that stick out or the shell out of aluminum or something.
