This is the best bus inspection I have seen on RU-vid, it is so helpful. I had a CDL for a school bus in the past but let it lapse, so I am redoing it all over again. Things have changed so much since I drove in 2018, I need to relearn all of it. Needless to say, I am a nervous wreck and it's coming up next week. Wish me luck, I'm gonna need it, lol The thing I liked the most was the CDLS acronym, I think if I just keep this in mind I'll do alright.

Hi. I just want to thank you for such a great, informative video. In training for my school bus CDL test in Utah, I was told what to look at, but I didn’t know what was what. This video was SOOO helpful to me. Plus, I thought I’d be going over the whole bus, but just like your video explained, I only had to identify parts of the Pre trip on the test. Having heard your explanation of such, really helped me not get thrown when the tester explained it to me. AND, with this video (and my own studying), I got a perfect 100% score on the pre trip. The tester said that was the first time he’s ever given a perfect score on the pre trip before! So, thanks again for making such an awesome video!

i love how you identified every part of the safe engine start. not just saying a safe engine start and not really knowing what it actually was, but you identified what it was and the components that make up the safe engine start.. now i know what it is ! thank you

This is a very helpful video. I drive a school bus. At about 34 minutes into the video, while at the back emergency door, it is not mentioned that the seal surrounding the door and frame is mounted correctly, is supple, not dry rotted, or has chunks taken out(No Damage). the exhaust from the tail pipe could enter with toxic fumes. Anyway, Thanks for this video.

It's so funny, after watching and watching all these videos, today I had my CDL road test and for the pre trip (I learned almost by heart all those under the hood names) and the examiner said : "On the passenger side, do the pre trip from the mirror to the back"... then the easiest skills ever, then the RR crossing, student drop off and hit the road Jack! Got it!

Outstanding video with so much detail! I used this video the first time i took my CDL test in Illinois 2018, moved to washington state in 2020, transferred my license over with P, S endorsement but have an air brake restriction so went to DMV, passed the written for air brakes, then they re-issued me a CDL learners permit and it appears I have to do this whole thing over, don't get it!!

29:15 (ONLY on the REAR) You must first chock the wheels, build full air pressure (120-125 psi), shut engine off and remove the key (key in pocket) then release the parking brake, then crawl under the bus and pull hard on the slack adjuster and it must not move more than 1 inch. You are not "going to do this" but you must tell the inspector what you would do.

If i take a route that has a bridge that the bus clearance is not pass underneath the bridge, how would i know that before reaching the underpass.
