Lesson 1 Gathering data
Having difficult conversations in the workplace is necessary to build an inclusive work environment where multiple voices are heard and honored. I will share with you some tangible strategies for engaging in those difficult conversations and personal traits that believe a facilitator needs to lead a difficult yet productive conversation. As a heads up you will need a partner for the activity later on in this lesson.
Your organization should clearly define who you consider your community. In other words, who are the external stakeholders you create programming for, direct initiatives to support, and generally care about. Your community likely consists of conors, artists, granting institutions, immediately surrounding neighborhoods, and patrons. Review national and local data and any information your institution has gathered on these constituents and look for trends.
