Of course a high hardness is important for it to last, but as far as the hardness is 8 or above it's not a problem unless you plan on beating your gems with hard stuff lol. Diamonds are just expensive because they are popularly known as the best gemstone but that's just a lie. They are just special in terms of hardness.
@@DeMooniC a lot of people buy jewellery as way of investing their money. It's considered a better alternative to saving your money in say a savings account as precious metals and gems don't tend to depriciate in value as a consequence of inflation. Looks matter for most, but not for all.
My moissanite ring looks pretty bad after a few years of daily use. I have earrings and a pendant that still look great. I wouldn’t get another moissanite ring.

Moisssanite is only a .5 difference on hardness diamond being 10 and moisssanite being 9.5. Moisssanite actually has more fire and brilliance than a diamond.

I own genuine diamond jewerly as well as moissanite jewerly much of which is in a pave style setting. My favorite ring is my diamond cluster ring so I went and bought a moissanite cluster ring to match it and like 2 pendants due to all the hype around moissanite I've been reading about. I can def. See why a lot of people like it. It has a lot more fire and is very bright. Me personally tho i don't prefer too much fire. Also the way they interact with light is slightly different. I love the way my diamonds seem to flicker crisp and effortlessly with bold and quick flashes of white light. Moissanite to me isn't as crisp and doesn't have that "twinkle" effect I love. They seem to me more "blurry" with a lot of rainbow sparkle and with less depth and crispness. Idk kinda hard to explain unless you have them in person side by side. I will say moissanite is super freakin bright when the light hits the surface at the right angles. But then again they aren't suppose to look like diamonds the way cz is made to look like a diamonds. They are their own gemstone. And tho CZ replicates the way diamonds interact with light more so then moissy does, they are much more dull and and the extreme external rainbow light gives them away as being fake. Moissy has a lot of rainbow sparkle but it seems to be more internal if that Makes sense. But regardless they both do what the other can't it's all about preference. CZ is out the picture for me. I won't waste a dime on it. But I won't hate on the next man for wearing it. Not everyone has hundreds or thousands to splurge on stones that don't really hold their value unless they are at a certain karat weight/cut/clarity or made by Tiffany ect. So ya I prefer diamonds over any other stone but I still and will still rock moissanite cause it looks real nice and unique. But for me nothing beats or can replicate the way a well cut diamond interacts with light. And moiss Def. Does Interacts with light differently. So don't go buying moissy expecting it to perform the same way diamonds do because you'll be a bit dissapointed. Anyways sorry for the long ass comment I'm out lol.
@user-td9by8kn2q ya bro I just posted a short of this pendant I recently got thats flooded with really well cut SI diamonds. You can see how effortlessly the stones light up refracting white light all together in a on/off cluster effect. This a quality I love and it's unique to well cut diamonds. Moissanite has a whole lot of of fire within the stone and I know a lot of people prefer that so it's all about preference. But to me it's makes them look more "fuzzy" when I compare them to my diamond pieces. They aren't as crisp in the way they refract white light. And it's true they do have a lot more scattered sparkles of fire but I'm all about the bold and crisp white flashes diamonds produce at every angle. You can get that white light refraction from moissanite but it has to Be at more specific angles and they don't have that flickering effect the way diamonds do... But just because I prefer the way diamonds perform doesn't make them any more or less better. They both do different things when they interact with lights so it's all about what what you want to get out of a stone.

Your sure Wright even lab grown diamonds are exciting to own because they are quite cheap and affordable for the customers that can't afford the natural ones but get the exact same deal without breaking the bank,Lab diamond earrings are worth it because they can be easy to loose and if it happens it won't hurt so much but still you get attached to them because they sparkle really really nice. There are a TON of diamonds in the ground, just most of them aren't high enough quality for jewelry. But yeah, definitely not as rare as most of the industry suggests :)
I love moissanite. Definitely my favourite gemstone. I'm biased because my engagement ring is a moissanite and i am obsessed with it's rainbow sparkle and steely grey undertones. My fiancee (we're both women) chose a garnet for her engagement ring because it's her favourite stone and the dark brown red maroon of the garnet looks perfect on her more olive skin s tone. Definitely do like diamonds but i would never want to part with that much money for jewelry. Even my moissanite engagement ring was second hand. A 1ct forever brilliant charles and colvard solitaire in 18ct gold for £120 and a year in it still looks perfect. The setting is super durable and well made and the stone is stunning to me. But i knew I wanted a non diamond engagement ring so it was choosing between a moissanite and a pink sapphire. Non diamond rings are really common in the UK. I think more common than in the US.

Natural moissanite is impossible to find in gem quality, it doesn't exist. All gem quality moissanite is man made. Also yes, hardness is very close between the two, but moissanites toughness is significantly lower so it is much more prone to chipping and breaking. Scratching isn't the only thing that dictates durability. But I appreciate your comment, you do bring up some good points!

CZ has come so far! People don’t realize a high quality CZ can be as hard as an 8 or 9 on the mohs scale which is harder than most other natural gemstones. They are lab created gemstones NOT glass or plastic. High quality CZ I believe look more like diamonds. Moissanite are beautiful but def have their own look much warmer and more rainbowy in the light. I’m not a jeweler lol just my opinion seeing all stones in person and my in depth google “ research “

CZs actually have pretty good sparkle but I bought a pair of earrings from some jewelry shop in the hallway of the Lubbock South Plains Mall called the Gold Lodge and as they lured me in they showed me a pair of earrings with a dull look to them so since I had money to splurge I went ahead and bought them so they wouldn't feel bad and for $50 I kept them and when I admire my $600 dollar lab grown diamond 0.50 earrings I just can't help but stare at the $50 ones upset from seeing them just wanting to sparkle but they look dull.Dang,they think they can they think they can they think they can.😅😅🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂

You don’t know what you’re talking about… Both CZ and Moissanite have a higher refractive index than diamond. This means they will bend light more than diamond. Given the proper gem geometry, both will be more “sparkly” than diamond. The geometry has to be optimized for the refractive index of the stone. If you cut a CZ or Moissanite with the same geometry as a diamond, of course they will be less sparkly. However, if you take into account the refractive indices of both the stimulants, they will outperform the diamond via the fundamental laws of physics alone…

Yeah moissanite is a lot cheaper though, it's also weaker and retains zero value. Moissanite is a natural stone and can be lab made just like diamond. Also moissanite shines more and is only slightly softer but not so soft that you will ever damage it in its setting. Please spread proper information
None of the moissanite used in jewelry is natural. Every single one is lab-grown. The natural occurring moissanite stones are of low quality, very small, and unsuitable for jewelry. Also, I have sold hundreds of moissanites over the years, and many have come back damaged, so saying that "you won't ever damage it" is just blatantly false. Even diamonds can be damaged (though much less often compared to moissanite) nothing is indestructible. I do this for a living and am a Graduate Gemologist, this is proper information but I appreciate your comment :)
Great question! Natural diamonds tend to have trace elements like nitrogen imbedded in their crystal lattice. This can cause fluorescence which means it flows under UV light. Often times this glow is much too dim to be able to see with your naked eye so by putting it an a very dark environment and taking a photo you can get a more accurate view
Natural Diamonds (carbon) are plentiful on earth. They are not rare. Still LAB grown diamonds are costly and expensive. Where as, natural Moissanite (silicon carbide) is much much rarer than diamond. Still lab grown Moissanites are cheaper. Why is this? 🤔 Plus, Moissanite's characteristics are also way better than a diamond. So why it's cheap in market??
Diamond has a higher perceived value and prestige due marketing and historic demand. The cost of lab diamond has fallen a lot though and will probably continue to. Honestly though, if the price was too low I bet a lot people wouldn't want diamonds and would go for a more expensive stone.
Naturals are top one cuz Future, Travis Scott, Lil Wayne and other rappers have the top #1 iced out jewelry in the world. My thing is that people are selling moissanite jewelry since they’re more affordable than natural diamond and maybe for lab created diamond I rather go lab than moissanite, so people can make those as iced out but might be expensive as like natural diamonds 💎 are.
I have a 20 22 and 24 in silver CZ tennis necklaces and bracelet. It looks really nice but I'm self conscious about if people look at it and assume it's CZ or diamonds I spend almost 2k
To say cubic zirconia isn’t very sparkly is ridiculous. It has a slightly lower refractive index and a slightly higher dispersion than diamond. Without a loupe, and especially from a distance of a few feet, a precision-cut high grade CZ can fool many jewelers. I would pick a diamond or moissanite over CZ any time for an item you wear daily, but it’s a great choice for evening and cocktail jewelry, or for trying out styles you’re not ready to invest in yet.
To say that CZ will fool jewelers is not true. I can spot a cz from across a room. and up close they have very high read-through which makes them seem less sparkly even though yes, on paper, they should be close.

There’s only a few stones I would consider more sparkly: rutile, strontium titanate, moissanite, and diamond. Even semiprecious gems like demantoid garnet and zircon that are known for being sparkly pale in comparison to cubic zirconia in terms of sparkle. Telling consumers that it isn’t very sparkly is misleading. It is very sparkly by any metric. And when I say it will fool many jewelers, I mean many of the sales associates you’d interact with at stores ranging from Kay to Tiffany & Co. I don’t meant the graduate gemologist they have in the back or at headquarters who spends all day grading diamonds. The CZs I’m talking about are top quality rough that’s heat treated to warm up the stone and then hand cut by a lapidary the way a diamond would be, and then mounted in jewelry, and viewed from several feet away. Not a loose commercial grade CZ popped out of an earring from Claire’s that’s being examined in hand. Of course, you’re correct that certain cuts, and certainly sizes above a carat or two will show much more glassy windowing when viewed from an angle if mounted, and any CZ will window when flipped upside down if unmounted.

Durability is definitely the biggest downside which is why I don't like selling them. in what way does it shine more? there are a few different aspects of "shine" that are complicated. Diamonds have more brilliance (bright white light reflection). In contrast, moissanite has more fire (spectral colors due to dispersion) and a similar amount of scintillation (white flashing strobe effect as it is rocked). it could also be that your diamond is dirty, they tend to attract grease easily.
"Not as durable as Diamond" Maybe by mohs scale true. (scratch resistance) But technically Moissanite is just second to Diamond, so the only thing that can scratch a Moissanite is another Moissanite or a Diamond. But again, "durable" is relative. When we talk about cleavage, Diamond shatters way easier than Moissanite because of the presence of cleavage plane. So your use of the word "durable" is misleading.

‘moissanite’s also man made’ false, sir. it can be man made, just like a diamond, but it’s a naturally occurring gemstone. the natural ones are typically very small. if it’s large, big enough for an engagement ring, it’s probably man made. also, diamonds have a hardness of 9.5-10 on the mohs scale, while moissanite has a hardness of 9.25-9.5 so their durability is practically the same. technically you’re not wrong, but it’s a very minimal difference.

I probably should have used the word ‘definitely’ instead of ‘probably’ but from what I could remember they are very rare and very tiny, not large enough for jewelry but I didn’t know at the time if any larger ones existed so I was being safe with my wording. Luxury is a state of mind. Luxury drains your wallet, however that GIA Certification number engraved on a natural diamond, brings more resale value. Natural diamonds will lose 25-30% of their original value and lab grown diamonds will lose 90-95%. Jewelers mark up natural diamonds a lot less than lab diamonds, because natural diamonds are so expensive to begin with. If a jeweler could mark up a $10,000 one ct natural diamond 60-70%, like the can on lab diamonds…they would. Lab diamonds are being produced and sold faster than ever and in ten years their value will be pennies on the dollar.
That little bit of silica in the molecular structure doesn’t veer off much from a diamond. Don’t hate on moissanite if anything they are more complex than diamonds for the silica rather than pure carbon
Not true, we can look at inclusions in diamonds that may be radioactive. Analyses of rhenium-osmium isotopes in sulfide inclusions have proven to be the most accurate way to date diamonds
Moissanite has a better look. And lab grown diamonds are just as strong and long lasting as a regular diamond. And I've seen real natural diamonds get sold back to jewelers. Most will get nothing back. Unless you have the correct cuts and correct carat number. If your girlfriend, fiance, or wife loses your moissanite or lab grown diamond ring. You didn't lose much. Also, for all the guys who break off an engagement or vice versa, and the lady throws away the ring, well you didn't lose much. At the end of the day they save you money. Cubic zirconia: for those who really want to be cheap.

To me, CZ is perfect to match with paleish pastel colors, while moissanite is perfect for barbie doll princess vibrance. For a pink leather bracelet I'd wear in the summertime? I'd use CZ. For a watch bezel to be matched with other gemstones like ruby? I'd choose moissanite.
Yeah but moissanite is forever, it does not cloud and toughness is second to diamond 9-25 to 9-5. CZ clouds and absorbs oil and moisture and only an 8 for toughness. You need to change it every 2 to 3 years because it will cloud.

@Joy21090 well... it's a bad habit really. 1st was a 1/3 ct solitaire marquee cut when I was just 18 years old and only about $900 back in 1996. The was an upgrade when I made more $$ to a 3 stone platinum 1ct total. Then at an antique store she loved an art deco plat old mine cut .5ct, so Christmas I got it. Then she found one just like it in white gold, I got it. Then she found a .81ct flawless solitaire old mine cut in platinum with an inscription inside the matching band and ring that was dated 1949, so I bought it. And there's been more. Her latest is a JR Woods 1890s 3ct old mine cut in the center of a flower with gold pedals. It's really a nice 14k ring that was only $350, plus 10% off. She has traded in 2 or 3 over the years (sadly the original very 1st one is gone 😔) but I've found something she loves to buy and it's like putting our money in the bank! Antique and vintage jewelry! She pays maybe 3%-5% over gold spot price, gets to wear them whenever, and keeps growing the value until we die and the kids get them, along with the house and everything else. Girls should indulge in antique vintage jewelry, it's very affordable, very unique and not like today's stuff. Plus it's like putting money in the bank, and you all look beautiful wearing the stuff! So while she has more than a few diamond wedding sets, currently only 1 was purchased brand new. But all her diamonds are natural and old style cuts, near flawless (all of them), in gold and old, purchased cheap! But today's girls are getting 2ct lab made flawless ones that suddenly make her .81ct look small. So undoubtedly I'll have to buy her a 2ct lab made diamond just so I don't feel cheap. It kills me that the flawless .81ct (just cause I love her) set was $1,200 used that I got her, and a 20 year old guy can buy his bride a 2ct lab made for the same price 😔 I can't compete with buying natural diamonds (like she swears to love) vs the other girls lab created diamonds that are bigger, cleaner, and much less expensive. It's a pickle. But I suppose I'll get her just 1 so she too can say "oh it's a 2 ct". And honestly, it's my pride and love for her that makes me want to give her far more than I can or that she needs. She's quite humble. But she talks a lot about what grandkids or daughter in laws are getting what onday. It's truly money in the bank. My dad did the same, only gold was $400 an ozt when he was doing so. By the time his kids were grown, gold was near $2,000 an ozt. He was able to cash out and buy a modest home down in North Carolina with cash from selling their gold collection alone. @Joy21090 lol, not really how it happened 😎 We started an idea when we were young. That is, we buy used Antique and 50year+ vintage gold and platinum jewelry whenever we find it. And this way, we are putting our money in the bank (in metals really) that we will always have and that she can wear anytime. We usually pay 100%-105% of melt price at antique shops or auctions. Then, take them to the jeweler to get inspected, fixed, or cleaned up and sized. And now, since 1996, she's acquired many, many items of gold, plat, even silver jewelry, lots of diamonds, and gems too. She can cash them out anytime she needs to if something happens to me or her. Just our way of saving up money and keeping her looking as beautiful as she can be. When you buy 2-3 gold rings or necklaces a month for almost 20 years, it adds up fast! The big diamond rings are her favorite, but she had lots of other stuff too. I keep trying to have her make a youtube video of her collection, but shes paranoid she will get robbed 😆🤣. Diamond rings for the 1800s are truly a sight to see! And she has an Art Deco fetish, especially if it's old mine cut, or old european cut in platinum. And I love spoiling her. I'm saving my money in a way (just in a metal form now) I feel proud I can give her so much. And she looks beautiful in all of the items she wear! It's a win, win, win! CZ and moissanite don't react to UV light. Some natural diamond fluoresce (about 30%) with the most common color being blue. Natural diamonds can fluoresce in many other colors, though it is rare. Lab diamonds can phosphoresce a few different colors though it is usually too dim to be seen by the naked eye
Why do people say moissanite is man made?!?!? ITS NOT MAN MADE it’s just not a diamond. Just like sapphire is it’s own authentic gem that isn’t diamond, so is moissanite. Now if by “man made” he means “lab grown” then yes technically it is man made but still natural. Some diamonds are even lab grown too but lab grown “man made” is NOT the same as cz (cubic zirconia) “man made”. Don’t get it twisted. Bc moissanite is a real authentic seperate stone from diamond (naturally found in meteorites) and shines more than diamond due to having more fire, brilliance, and scintillation then diamonds. The reason for “man made” moissanite (lab grown moissanite actually) is bc moissanite is also more rare than diamonds due to the fact that it don’t come from our planet. Look it up, everything I said is facts and you have access to it, healers just don’t want you to know this so they call moissanite “man made” to make you make a connection between moissanite and cz and think of moissanite as fake. But what they really mean is lab grown, which is man made but like I said, still authentic. Think of lab grown moissanite/diamonds vs natural origin moissanite/diamonds as humans breeding animals vs animals in the wild mating. The outcome is still a natural authentic result of the animal/stone, one was just forced using human intelligence and science, and the other one happened in Mother Nature but both are still authentic and real
@@kojibackupaccount6649 also, I don't have a preference on what you buy, if you want a moissanite that's great, if you want a lab diamond that's great, and if you want a natural diamond that's great, it makes no difference to me I'm just trying to educate on the differences, so you can make an educated buying decision but it makes no difference to me which direction you go.
Natural of course is the part on how it’s made naturally vs lab but I know it’s practical to get lab but I still prefer the real natural ones nothing beats that at-least for my taste

All moissanite used in jewelry is :) Natural moissanite is exceptionally rare and the largest stone found is not big or high enough quality to be used in jewelry
