I don't think it makes them "more real", I think they're caricatures of each of their personality types and stereotypes in general we gave towards the "teen archetype" in a horror narrative like this game takes place in. None of these people make any rational or reasonable means of trying to escape their situation. They try the radio once, then that's it. Then they basically split up and make it much easier for themselves to gett killed off individually, than if they had simply stuck together. None of the werewolves teamed up on werewolf form, hell, they might even be territorial when they're werewolves and straight up attack each other in said form. There are plenty of reasons to not make the decisions they make and I'd argue most rational people, even horny teens, ciuld come up with better plans, on the spot.
