That would technically be a trophy truck as it has a solid rear axle a short course has independent suspension just sharing something i read up on years ago lol none the less happy to see hbx really dropping the ball lately with a few new models i want to see a true 10th scale from them soon thanks for sharing bro appreciated as always
Thanks for the info 🤣🤣 hbx calls it an SC so I’m gonna keep it as is so it doesn’t cause confusion lol. Wait you think hbx IS dropping the ball lately? I assume typo lol. I think these latest models are awesome and yes I can’t wait to see something bigger. Surely one day lol Thanks man!
I need that comparison video ASAP. I love every single one of those SC trucks, but I need to know what the Master of Bashing loves the most. Great work man!
Dude that thing looks like my style. I want a more realistic desert truck but don't wanna spend the money on a Losi Baja Rey or Traxxas UDR. This looks plenty tough for its purpose and plenty realistic for $170. I like it and I think I'm gonna get one
Well done as always sir. I love a good SCT, they are actually my favorite type of rc. I'm going to have to pick one up. I'm probably the only channel who hasn't done an HBX yet, but I always hear good things about them, and I think this one will be my first.
I was able to change the motor out for a Larger 4200KV and 45A Esc similar to what’s in the Hyper Go H16BM. In addition if you take the battery strap and run it under the tray/rollcage you can fit in the 2/3s hard pack batteries for the Hyper Go and similar brands.
LOL SWEET. your son is going to be a RC Goku. I just realized if you pull the cheap hyper go metal clips all the way to the back they hold on great. I just put a big old sock on the HyerGo H16 over the body. Just about to toss the paddle tires back on an rip the snow. lol PS You do a great job to deliver the good an bad. id like to see an short course in the back yard. maybe small flags would be sick. and a tiny cone or two before the big drift section out front the house. would be crazy. and backflips on the tree***
Thanks! Yes he will be lol Yes I definitely have plans for a better backyard setup next year. Funny enough I did a tree backflip today for an upcoming video lol
Great video as usual Evan! I’d love to see a comparison. I really think Haiboxing was definitely intentionally trying to give this truck a Senton/Mojave-esque sort of feel and look! I think they did it too! You really put this through its paces. The rapid truck is the clear monster of the two, but I to me the Hbx plays desert truck more realistically. It’s like having a to choose between a leather man and a machete to bring out camping . Which would you bring? I’d bring both! Merry Christmas to you, the Mrs. And all the minions! Take care dude!🎄🌟🎁🎅🏼🌟🎉
Thanks Robby! Yes I completely agree, the rapid has the speed and stability (probably the durability too) while this has the realism and better drifting. Though swapping tires on the rapid helps with the drifting immensely. The stock tires are garbage I think lol Thanks and Merry Christmas to all of you as well!!!😃
Man you're lucky you didn't disintegrate when you bumped your head on that bug zapper. There you go make a video of you bumping your head on it and you getting zapped and disappearing. 😂😂😂 Yeah you're right on that one that orange truck is fast and strong It's going to take a lot to beat that one out.😮
Great job. Another fine video from Derby RC and another nice truck from HBX. Of course youve got to do the comparison (Id forgotten you had a senton). You dont even need to ask. Be interesting to see if you can put a bigger pinion on the 3100A before you have to jump to a longer, wider motor. HBX motor mounts sometimes allow for that. Which was the orange one max was driving ? Now repeat after me "squirrel.......pronouncerised.........s k w i r r u l"
True I think all hbx models I’ve taken apart allow for either a smaller or larger pinion, by 2 teeth. Max was driving the JJRC q130. We did a review on it several months ago. We love it! Have an upgrade video on that, the blue car we got from Temu, and my Frankenstein hbx in the works. SQUIRREL!!
Thanks! They’re pretty different. I think the q130 handles better and is more durable, and faster, but the hbx is more realistic. Still pretty fast, and has also proven it’s durable. My 7year old drives it quite a bit. Lots of crashes and no breaks. Nothing more at all than that bent hinge pin. Both are awesome!
I just got it, what tires would you upgrade these to? Also, it has reach issues. When you go too far it becomes twitchy, what esc, receiver and controller would you recommend for it? Thanks 🙏
I haven’t looked into tire replacements for it yet, but if I were to upgrade the esc, it would likely be a 60amp Hobbywing like this if it fit: amzn.to/3Qb9Jnd Then I’d use this receiver/transmitter: amzn.to/3QdJbS2 It even has a gyro!
I think it’s worth the upgrades, awesome truck. Hopefully you can make a vid doing those upgrades. I’m getting tires too as soon as I find ones to upgrade to. Thanks for the info 🙏.
I HAD to see this videos this morning🤦🏽 I have the Arrma Gorgon arriving from Amazon by 10pm tonight, saw this and ordered... it will be here by 5pm today, my Wife is going to flip😁Keep up the awesome videos man!
@@DerbyCityRC she will def be bashing around with me, no doubt! We're currently empty nesters(can't believe it)and Wife is my partner on all my crazy adventures... now she can shoot better than me😅
Did you try if the receiver works with the 16889a pro transmitter? If yes, that would be a good upgrade to 16889a pro without having to buy new receiver.
I tried the 16889a transmitter with this receiver and it didn’t work. But really to me, there is nothing better about either controller. The 16889 controller you can turn down the speed. On these new 3s capable models, you cannot.
Good stuff as usual. I suggest selectively killing some grass in your backyard to make a dirt track! My son made one by accident with his power wheels with zip tie tire chains over the course of a few wet winters which has now become one of our rc tracks and it's awesome. By the way what size and style truck do you like to drive most when you aren't making videos?
Thanks! Yes I completely plan on doing this. Been trying to think of ways to keep it from causing a dust storm when it’s dry and windy, and to keep it from washing away in heavy rains lol. I usually still go for the bashers/ truggys the most. Definitely been getting a bit more into drifters too. Have a few of them coming up.

Great video! I just ordered the new "V2 version" just wondering if you could tell me the size of the wheel hex? and the length of the rear shocks? Thanks!
Hey brother, maybe a bit off topic, but can you tell me what is the best radio for 4 wheel steer? I want to have two wheels, not one wheel and a knob. Is their such a thing that u know of or do I have to like 3D print a knob or use a joystick radio? Thanks bro
Great video! That 3s picked up well over 50% more speed. Not bad! Did you find the smaller size limited it a lot off road? My 16890a is fun for sure but the 2997a is so much better off road it is my favorite HBX I have run. The comparison you had in mind would be fun… see how the larger scale compares to smaller.
Thanks! Actually I think this is still only available in the US Amazon market. Not sure why they haven’t expanded that yet, on any of their 3 newest models. Hopefully soon!!
It does not actually. Not sure why, but they got slightly new remotes for their newest models, this being one of them, and didn’t add any throttle limiting. Instead of throttle dual rate, we got throttle trim.
Oh wow! 100% not a short course truck but I’m interested. I love Trophy Trucks and definitely like small scale ones as well. The Losi Baja Rey is one of the best RC’s ever… how did an RC car company release a RC and put SC when it’s NOT a SC!!! 😂 looks awesome! Yes, do the comparison. I can never remember wheat the white and orange one is but I know it rips.
This one here! There's a one battery version for $10 less you can choose. Just be sure to get the orange one cuz that's the only one that's brushless.www.banggood.com/custlink/GmvV4ocRyo
I hear ya, my favorite body style is your typical truggy. But I really want something that’s got a power wagon body! The short course style is just more realistic.
At malaysia still no in this hbx 3100a model...im still waiting only...but im got Q130, 144010, 16101 pro, 16103 pro & 16103 standard car only...wish malaysia can be faster in this model..
The receiver was defective on mine. I couldn’t get more than 50ft out before it lost connection. It rolls over way too easy. I think it’s just too light to have a solid axle.
Hopefully they’ll hook you up with a new receiver. I’d say this one would benefit from a little extra width, but I didn’t have any major rollover issues except in the soft dirt and gravel. I agree a bit more weight would help too.
It should have come bound already, but if not, it comes with a “bind plug” and it’s in the instructions. I don’t remember off hand exactly how to do it. Let me know if you find it.
@@DerbyCityRC got the bind plug and got it going just not reverse but I have forward and brakes so I'm nearly there! Didn't realise there was a gyro in there aswell lol
@jaystarmini slowly adjust the throttle trim knob on the controller. Typically needs to be close to the middle. If it’s too far forward (clockwise), you won’t have brakes. Hopefully that gets you there!! 😆
@@DerbyCityRC cheers I have brakes and that knob is bang on in the middle bit still no reverse if when it's stop and you try the trigger doesn't matter how many times its not going into reverse 😕
@jaystarmini yup I read that wrong lol sorry. Well. I’m not sure. Will it go in reverse with or without the trigger if you bias the throttle trim knob towards the rear?
Thanks! I’ve actually got a pretty full m12 set and several m18s but I keep all that in my truck. For our in the shop I asked for a 12v Bosch set lol. Haven’t used Bosch in a while hopefully I like it. Lol
@@DerbyCityRC Love the M18 line up. They pick up where the m12 line fails. And to be fair, you can't go wrong Bosch. They've been around for long time. When I was diesel mechanic, M18s were my backups when the air was down. ALLEGEDLY! Harbor freight or Wally World has a clone of the m12 driver, that also accepts m12 batteries. Supposed to be like $35. I'm thinking about getting one to do a test on.
WL Toys 104002 Violent vs HBX 3100A Voilent, a battle to the end video is in order. 😂🤣 Why is it so hard to name products in China? 🤔 Great vid as always!
Dude you should have seen the stuff i saw when working for a local company that imported chinese electronics. Engrish is a thing and it's funny as heck. 'Fragile' would say ''Easy broke" which was always very relatable. also got stickers that say 為木人弓廿 大弓人田 - *100%* - 為木人弓廿 大弓人田 and heaps of CE stickers that were definitely for product that weren't actually CE certified 😂 The Chinese people are great but some of the exchanges between our countries are hilariously derpy.
Lol ya I like showing the typos lol. And some of the funny ways things translate like you said lol. Some of them are actual typos though like had a box that said shats instead of shafts. The WPL official parts website has a listing for a servo that says “the shitty steering gearbox servo” 🤣🤣
Hbx wins again WL every time. They just don’t use very quality plastics from my experience. Maybe the newer models are better, I’m sure I’ll get one eventually 😃 Ya the Chinese typos and translations are hilarious sometimes 🤣
HBX/Haiboxing are pretty good for a budget manufacturer, always have been (mostly).! (I had the old FTX Sidewinder version of their 1/8 scale HPI 5B clone about 10 years ago... It was good,, fast, handled great & looked awesome but it was very fragile.. Like break it every run fragile) If it survives your reviewing "process" then it's definitely making it onto my radar. Stay safe out there mate & the very best wishes from Scotland 🏴 🙏 ❤️ 📻 🕹️ 🔋 🚗 🚖 🚕 🚔 🚚 🚙 🚘 🚓 🚒 🚑 🚐 🚎 🚤 🚁 🛩️ 👍 👍 👍
It's like shoe goo but thinner not thicker..I actually used it to mend my x07 suspension arm...it takes a few days to fully cure...I will finish hosim in a week or so..if e6000 doesn't hold I also just received 2 new arms..
@GSG-lc5zm I was 10 when it came out and I made my parents take me to the theaters twice to see it lol Just started watching Monarch and it’s really good. Can’t wait to see the new movie too!
Me too, but that softness saved the control arms and likely even the chassis in this case, so kinda glad really. If you crash a bunch, spend 5 minutes bending them back and boom! Loo
The battery is the main issue with HBX. I don't care how many batteries they give with it. I have one HBX and I'll never buy another until that battery apartment is fixed. To me it is about the run time.
Yup the run time on this with the stock battery was pathetic. The hbx 1800 that fits perfectly without the foam, last over 15 minutes, and would have been a logical choice. Strange decision on their end.
