Mom Arrested for Leaving Kids With Bi-Polar Dad: Cops 

That she was arrested is actually huge. How many times have parents been forced by courts to share custody with a parent who has known issues? Who is responsible next time such a situation goes bad?

Why would she get arrested? The kids aren't just hers and just because he had Bipolar does not mean that he gets a pass to neglect his kids. Moms aren't the only ones responsible for the kids

The mother is the worse she knew the dad is bi-polar and she left the kids with him.

i watched the full body cam there is a 10 year old girl and 7 year old boy. The woman was arrested because there were 3 cases already with CPS she made no desire to change her ways or get help. The kids didn't even know how old they were or what their last name was as they weren't in school. she claimed to have homeschooled them but kept changing programs. the kids were staring even after the cops fed them twice. The husband was unmedicated and already had cops called on him a couple weeks prior she knew he was getting worse but still left the children in his care as she went to work. she was not with him at the dollar tree she was at work. The children were scared while they were with their father as he was yelling how he was jesus and the devil and also talking about self harm. the children were not scared of the cops however.

Take the kids away from both parent's

Did she leave them for a length of time? Where was she. The couple is not together?

Being bipolar is NOT an excuse to mistreat your kids.

If she were to divorce him, the courts would still give him custody of those kids. Then, who would social services go after? The mom because she followed court orders. The whole system is meant to harm children in every way.

I have bipolar disorder myself and the last thing I ever want do to is put a child in danger. Those poor children 😢

Did she have full custody of the kids? If not I don’t see why the courts shouldn’t be responsible for this too

What was the custody agreement? She may have had no choice but to hand the kids over for his time. He could have seemed fine when she did so. He also could have been the type to not communicate with her or allow her to talk with the kids when they were with him. Unless the full story comes out, I say she should not have been arrested and the dad needs help. I bet next custody hearing she gets the kids and he gets limited supervised visits.

Maybe she had to go to work? She has no one else to help her care for the household or Bi-polar husband? She is trying under all the circumstances? Who knows, maybe he needs to take his meds..It is tough having to deal with all life throws at you...Good luck trying to sort it all out...for everyone involved.

First and foremost, bi polar doesn't mean you're unfit. What I'm not hearing is, is there an order of these two being separated and the father had a legal right to have them too? If so, how is that her fault. If not, they she should have done something.

I have seen many mothers with health and mental problems and I have never seen the father arrested. As always, the man (father) who mistreats children manages to get away with it.

There’s more to this story. I’m sure Dad isn’t employed anywhere in that state so most likely Mom is the only one working. Daycare for 2 kids is expensive on a single income. Let’s not judge this woman prematurely. 🙏🏽

OK frankly thats insane. Your penalizing her when its the fault of some bi-polar guy? If the guy shouldnt have had kids then he should have been sent to jail lmao. Hows that work. If he isnt stable enough to be around kids then bi-polar should indicate people need their kids taken away. Frankly this is insane. Her mental health is ignored, she is not some psychiatrist. I had a friend for 15 years with bipolar who ended up stealing from me and becoming a pathological liar, thats after I was his only friend for 15 YEARS. I have autism, am I at fault for having trusted him?? Because the reality is I was completely deceived. How tf is mental illness causing neglect thus the fault of another person who has no actual ability to diagnose or involuntarily commit another person as she is not a healthcare professional and likely has stuff going on thats her own issues. We blaime and let homeless people with mental issues ROT in this country, this is unjust. Both parents should be charged if anything. But if the kids were in his care then obviously, he neglected them. Thats INSANE to think otherwise. Something I notice with bipolar people is they use their emotional responses and outbursts as an excuse to do terrible things or they try as hard as they can to shift blame always.

Ok so mom who probably does everything she possibly can and can’t afford thousands for daycare is going to jail because her husband is crazy?? That’ll help the kids.. How about the husband gets ACTUAL in patient care instead of putting the weight of the world solely on the mother’s shoulders? This is why people don’t have kids anymore. It takes 3 full time incomes to barley get by, even then you can’t afford child care… and you go to prison when the father of the kids had a mental break instead of someone actually doing something to actually help. The state should pay for a few weeks of in patient care AND childcare instead of blaming this woman. OR BETTER YET… if the government isn’t going to protect us from an economy where nobody can afford to either stay home with the kids, OR get decent child care.. we should stop having babies. Why feed the government more tax payers when they keep closing down services they used to have? What’s the point of even having g kids when you work 12 hours a day and don’t even see them and still have nothing to show for it.

Its not her fault. The courts probably give the father visitation rights while knowing he was bi-polar. Shes going to jail for following a court order.

Help her and her kids how’s arresting her benefitting anyone. This is our problem as a society. We need to help people with mental illness and their families

She probably is the bread winner for the family, probably making under $10/hr and expected to pay $10/hr/child for care while she works early mornings and late nights.

But that's not a crime. Being mentally ill is not a crime, this is why people don't seek help.

Okay, I don't know much about Bipolar Disorder, so to those who have it, I'm sorry if this comes off as offensive. So the mom got arrested for leaving her kids with the father (Who to be fair they establish isn't on meds), but the father is supposedly not arrested for DOING the neglecting in the first place?

We don't know enough about this case to make any judgements. It looks terrible for all involved and we don't know all the things that led up to this situation.

This is ridiculous. It's like they wanted to arrest her. Now the kids have neither parent around to look after them; now they're in an even more turbulent situation. It doesn't sound like she was the one who neglected them by not feeding them. A reprimand or better yet, a visit and guidance from social workers, would've helped this family so much more.

If he wasn’t having manic episodes very often it could have been very difficult to predict. I don’t think they can hold her accountable for HIS actions.

I am a bi-polar man and this would never happen to anyone under my care,bi-polar is not an excuse for neglecting your children.

Having a mental illness is not an excuse to be evil. As someone who has bipolar disorder and a child myself, I would never put my son in harms way.. mental illness doesn’t make you hurt children or harm them . The truth is even with mental illness you have to always be in control of your actions and thoughts.

Whatever FL has to do to take the blame off of the man who can't control his mental disorder and blame her they will do. Did she have work? Did she have a death in the family? Did she have literally any list of things that can happen that require you to not be present for your children and depend on your spouse? My PCP and nurses don’t believe I’m bipolar. They say I don’t “act like it” peoples understanding of this condition is misconstrued.

Perhaps both parents need a mental health evaluation. Living with someone that has a bipolar disorder disrupts the entire family emotionally. Offer the mother help financially if she has custody and is not able to provide for the family financially. Send the dad to a mental health treatment center until he is well enough to provide a stable environment as well. Prayers for this family🙏 may God protect these children from harm. Please find a loving family to care for these children if necessary. Do not throw tgem into the foster system 🫣😭🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

When I was growing up, I was disciplined the old fashioned way: a smack here and there. I needed it. These days my parents would probably be hauled to prison for abusing me. Leave it to the police and prosecutors to tell you how you can live your life.

Arresting her is ridiculous, I’m sorry but mental illness is no excuse for the father neglecting the children. Lock up the mother use not helping the children.

I'm reading that the mother had a court order not to allow the father any custody, specifically because he was a danger. So in that regard, yeah, she deserves to be charged. It's obvious she's tired and overwhelmed, but the fact of the matter is, she knew this was a pattern of behavior with him, and trusted her kids to him, anyway.

My ex would leave our young children unsupervised at night. People thought I was in the wrong for letting them go over there but the authorities told me if I withheld his visitations there could be consequences and custody could be transferred to him. There’s usually a side to the story that doesn’t get told.

Unless there is more to the story. This mother should never have been arrested. This was a problem with the father. If she had refused to let the kids be with their father, I'm sure she would have been charged anyway. Florida needs to overhaul their justice system. This is absolutely ridiculous!

What mother leaves her children days on end? It will be worse if she seen them dirty and hungry but refused to take them away from him. This is just pure selfishness on the mother, if we can even call her that smh.
