Bring a foster & adoptive mom dues bring many challenges but making sure that everything you do is about healing. Not only for the children but for the birth family.
I’m with you 3 specific events dealing with my kids birth moms that completely broke me & changed my look on adoption and being a family!
You have to be ready to be 100% invested in the birth family if possible. Sometimes it’s not easy but it’s necessary!
And always be kind to the birth families and never ever talk bad about them to the children. Ever. Always uplift them.

I gave my son up for adoption, and it was an open private adoption. He and I have an amazing relationship now, and I am such great friends with his adoptive parents, and we do things together all of the time and I love my granddaughter as well.

This brings back sooo many memories to when my 3 beautiful kids got taking away from me. That was the HARDEST part of my life. I did get my kids back but I could remember watching parents losing ALL parental rights and I just remembering that's NOT GOING TO HAPPEN TO ME!! It's NOT A FUN TIME TRYING TO GET YOUR CHILDREN BACK FROM THE STATE. My 2 son's went to this one lady whom I'm sooo thankful for that she allowed me to send time with my boys. It's hard!!! STAY CLOSE TO THE LORD AND HE WILL MAKE IT WRK❤️‍🩹❤

My mother was in foster care when her mother dropped her & her middle sister off at a police station. My mom was in juvenile jails due to lack of placement. She had a wonderful foster family who we were blessed to know & referred to them as grandma & grandpa. She also had many more awful placements that involved lots of different abuse. She never recovered from it. In any case, if she had a foster family like yours, maybe she would've had a fighting chance. God bless.

I just recently found your channel. I was completely hoodwinked by another family channel so I’ve been cautious to say the least. You’re so kind and loving and truly want the best for your kids. I love how proud you’re with their achievements. I saw that on Josh one year anniversary. I’m hooked, I’m a subscriber today. God bless.

You’re an angel! This moved me to share my recent story - I’m adopted, and I recently came across a carbon copy of a letter that my mom wrote to my bio mom, thanking her for choosing my family and telling her their plans for my life and what my world with them would be like. Sadly, it was a closed adoption which was more common back then, but I love the idea that she has the other copy of that letter and that my life turned out as good as my mom promised it would. I’m not sure if I want to try to find or reach out to her someday since she was still basically a child herself when this all happened, but that one letter meant a ton to me.

I love this! My parents started dating when my mom was 16 and my dad was 20. After a year of being together my mom got pregnant at 17. She ended up dropping out of school and my parents decided on a closed adoption. She gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Fast forward 8 years and my parents stayed together and got married and went on to have my 4 siblings and I. When I was a sophomore in high school my mom told my siblings and I about our sister, it must have been her birthday and my mom felt it was time to tell my siblings and I about the baby girl all those years ago as as the youngest of us was now 14 and mature enough to know. Then fast forward to 2017 and I got a call literally the day after my honey moon from my parents telling me the girl (my adopted sister) found my dad on Facebook! My mom wrote a similar note for her that she too kept all these years. I cried when my mom was telling me how sweet my adopted sister was and that she reminded my mom of me! Just this summer I got to meet my sister, it was very emotional and we had a very very long talk. There’s too much to write here. But I’ve always had a special place in my heart for adoption and thankfully no hard feelings from any party. We know things played out how they were meant to.

We adopted our daughter thru foster care. Hardest thing I have every gone thru. Her mother fought for her and worked very hard but it was not enough for the court. We sat in the courtroom for a week hearing testimony. When the judge ruled in our favor the birth mom broke down. I cried for days for her but I knew in my heart it was best for our daughter. Mom is still struggling to this day. Our beautiful daughter is now 24 and doing great. Thank you for sharing this difficult video. You are correct when someone wins we must remember someone must also lose. 💜

When we took custody of a child our termination hearing was brief. Brief to the point I kept thinking “this is a child! How can this not take longer than 12 minutes? It felt like they were herding cattle through a chute”. We left stunned but thankful we had the child.

A friend if mine Foster's..she has children of her own..but now that their grown she has the time & space to Foster children..she's still in touch with the kids even after they're adopted. It's so emotional sometimes..she even had one girl in her wedding last year. It was such a moment. She often said the worst was that some of these parents really tried but the state still took them. That I don't like. It's awful. Ty for sharing 💓

Wow when you were talking about the birth mom not fighting for the child that hit me hard. When I met my husband we had both been divorced, I had no children, he had two, they were 5 and 2 at the time. His ex wife had full primary custody for two years, during those two years she made some horrible decisions. Long story short my husband and I got custody of the children. His ex wife chose to walk away completely from the children, she even moved states, doesn’t call etc. It used to infuriate me that she refused to be in their lives. Why would a mother not want to “fight” for her children to be in her life. This all happened many years ago, the kids are now grown and their bio mom still isn’t in their lives. I feel so blessed I was able to show my stepchildren the love their mother should have.

There are no winners in termination. All parties are changed because it's a little soul, not a toaster. The maternal instinct is learned. It is NOT inherent. Be that as it may you & Luke have something inherent that allows for love to eclipse the hardships and the very real ugliness of the world. Your willingness to share here and yet step back from commercializing... Over and over again you do the good and right thing even if it takes you a moment to correct course. You've blown up on ticktok because on the surface a fun loving kind different family is a fun peek! It's slower here because you get to show the hard stuff AND in exchange for those who stick around, the deep thoughtful sincere love for others despite reciprocal grace or love. Giving credence to the reality of your chosen path is invaluable, so thank you.

What a beautiful honest vlog. We have a four year old that has parents that are still growing up. We did not go through the system since we knew his parents. When we went to court for custody, the Judge and his staff were all choked up watching his parents choose what is best for him. We were all crying. We foster a relationship with him and his parents. We have opened up our home to them. They continue to make the wrong choices. I pray and cry for them constantly because they miss all of the big and small things. The other side is hard to see. Thank you for being so understanding and honest about this. It’s hard to see other channels talk so poorly about bio parents. It breaks my heart. God bless you for what you do ❤

I understand Totally y you had to say your feelings❤️ It’s Extremely Important to TRY to keep all the child’s family as close to them as possible. Especially if they’re old enough to know what’s happening. Can you imagine what a child is going thru that’s taken from Home and thrust in a new situation. Even though You want to Love that child and Do , it Must be devastating for the child to be Given up.they may say they understand but Really they can’t imagine y their mom is giving them away . A True double edged sword. It’s so Wonderful that u keep the adoption Open, because one day most likely they Will Want to see and talk to BirthMom.. you Are. SuperHearted Person because that act of Adoption is both Heartbreaking and Wonderful at the same time.i wish you and your Family All the Best in this Life..

Not that i didn't cry buckets of tears over this. But over the years we all got to see our grandson and interact with him. He's now in his late 20s and in the Army.

My parents were foster parents for many kiddos since I was 17 currently I am 57. My mom passed away in 2014 and my dad in 2020. They became legal guardians for the last six kiddos that the had. For me they might as well be flesh and blood because that's how I look at them as my brother's and sisters. In the end there are 9 of us 3 bio and 6 foster. We all have our ups and downs but all in all we are one big family and since I am the oldest that makes me the matriarch. One of my sisters and I share that role.

I'm glad these situations worked out for the best for the children and you. Unfortunately it doesn't always go that way. My wonderful selfless husband, son and daughter agreed to let us take guardianship of 3 of my sister's kids after her passing. I don't regret trying to give those kids a chance for a structured happy family life but I will always regret.the mental anguish that my family and myself went thru trying to help these kids be part of our family. The two older kids were teens and basically set in their ways and unwilling to conform to any kind of a family structured lifestyle. The youngest (age 12).was more willing but the county court system made him go with his legal father( not biological by the way) even though he had no place to live and he wanted to stay with us and we could provide a more stable living situation. It's been 20 yrs and to this day the 2 older kids will not talk to us. They've even bullied my oldest on social media after they left our home The youngest talks to my son once in awhile and asks kindly about us. I don't wish anything bad to these kids but I never understood why they hated us. All we did was try to help them. 😔 😪

I think it’s so selfless to make the decision that you cannot care for your kids, and they deserve better. Can’t be easy.

We adopted 6 from foster care I sat with one mom at the termination hearing we cried we hugged and she begged us to keep her child which we already knew we would but we are 15 yrs later and it still makes me cry. One of the others the mom signed off and came out of court hugged me and asked me to keep her son he’s now 14.

I was adopted into awful family. Never meet birth dad he had me in his 60s. All 4 parents not alive. I have Two kids thati had very young, they are not in My life due to My depression and anxiety and health issues,i wasn't a good enough mum for them so they disowned me. I struggle every day having no parents and envy people that do. Miss My kids so much 😢 This lady so caring. IT took a while to find this video as i was trying to find a video about this lady talking about her kids cause I didn't know if she gave birth to them all

That is so cool you did open adoption. David got the best of both worlds. Now that he’s 23, do you invite the birth mom to family functions or keep lives separate? Did David ever get to meet his dad? Did the birth mom name David? You are the best.
