I know this is more than a year later, but I'm the boss and I always go in on the snow days. And I bring donuts. I won't ask people to do something that I'm not willing to do. Anyway covid ruined snow days for everyone because everybody can work remote and schools can be remote.

Our water has been dripping for TWO nights because here in Texas we dropped to 12 and snow that normally lasts 2 hours is STILL here TWO DAYS IN A ROW. And more rain 🌧is forecast 2moro with a Hi of 24.

You live in the south, you learn that lesson quick. “Let that water drip and wrap the faucet up outside, so your pipes won’t freeze over night!” And you kno if someone say “I got up this morning and the water wasn’t work!” Guess you didn’t let your water drip overnight🤣🤣.

I thought it was just me growing hearing the devils music was off limits. It was cards too in my grandmother’s (Madear) house. This is why I can’t play cards today, because they were the devils cards. People look at me crazy when I say I don’t know how to play spades or any other card game.

It snows here in Cali! We have whole ski resorts (i.e Squaw Valley). We may not get snow days in most cities/townz and at the level they get elsewhere but, we get snow.

My husband tells me all the time that my kids will never leave because I make it too comfortable for them. I didn’t leave home until I graduated college and it’s ok if they do the same.

@@KV-mz8ro When you are ready for them to spread their wings, or even now. Start teaching them how to be independent. How to start a utility account, how to pay bills realistically -vs- ideally. How to save, how to plan for meals with groceries without waste. How to repair things in the home. How important it is to have a presentable exterior as well as interior. How to be a great neighbor (it takes work). You know more than just washing dishes, cleaning their rooms, feeding the pets, and taking out the trash. Many kids only get "Chore lessons". Unless they are very attentive, and remember well, many don't pick up on life skills. My 24 yr old cousin came to stay with me for a year. She...knew...nothing. she didn't even know how to separate clothes for the laundry and she was too embarrassed to ask because she felt she was too old. She was too old for many of the things she didn't know how to do BUT I told her now is not the time to be too embarrassed to ask. Be embarrassed if you never ask and go through your life never knowing. My Mom took us to the bank a few times then she sent us on our own. She sat us down with her when she figured out how much to pay towards each bill if she didn't have enough to pay in full. She took is to thr market and made us tally up what was put in the cart in out heads so that by the time we got to the register we would know if we are over spending. She made us go to the market on our own. She made us pay the rent on our own. She taught us how to do out own taxes. As a matter of fact she took us with her and involved us in most of her business affairs. She made us put together grocery lists. She taught us to sew/mend instead of throwing things out and buying new. She taught us to wash by hand (just in case) even though we had a washer dryer. We were latchkey kids so we started learning to cook at aged 6. Now that I think of it she prepared us for the 2020 apocalypse. 🤣 I'm not getting down on parents, it's just that many of us get on auto pilot and maybe don't even think to do these detailed things with the kids. If you teach them how to run a household the on an adult level then they will see themselves in their own homes, know that they can handle the responsibility, and desire to have their own space. Also don't be afraid to help set up their first place. A few essentials, useful items, to help them get established will do very much for their longevity and success. I'm not saying furnish their whole apartment. Make them work for something. But a little help goes a long way.
