@@doggett13 he broke his ankles with that cross over after selling a hard drive to the hoop... at most it was a nudge and is still an awesome display of craft, athleticism and clutch.
@@doggett13 it’s pretty much impossible no matter how strong you are to push someone and make them fall down, with one hand, while your entire body weight is pulling in the opposite direction. Byron Scott fell for the hard drive and when jordan pulled back he slipped.
@@robertofontesc.6226ehhhh not really he great but he also very overrated u only know about his status it clear most u mj fans ain’t even really real fans
Greatest sequence in NBA finals history. Ppl usually focus on the last shot. But that’s the icing on the cake. Down 3 MJ scores a quick, difficult layup. If he didn’t have those mitts the ball would have been knocked out of his hand. Then defensively he makes the steal. THEN he scores again! This was insane watching it live. Simply the goat.
@Coogan I agree. I turned 13 in 1991 so I grew up watching Jordan's career. I forgot I thought the series went 2-3-2 but game 6 was in Utah so I guess I'm wrong.
I think your making things up now lol smh he just going down the court no different then any other player. You sound like you want to literally kiss his feet.
@@ImStillLandy One can unearth many dirts on pretty much all athletes, I won't dispute who did what because that's besides my comment. As far as Basketball is concerned, this final series should be all the explanation you need. Have you watched it?
@@BrandingBuff I have indeed watched the series, and I do agree, it was very enjoyable, but you have to consider the fact that the nba has adapted, and gotten much better, so I'm wondering entirely what I missed. I would assume the story is about it, as I was born in 2007 and I wasn't alive to witness it. And yes, that is true, money often corrupts people. My teams qb just got busted (the browns) so that sucks. But it's sports for ya.
I remember this moment well. When Jordan stole the ball from Malone and began to move down court it seemed like time stood still for a moment. I jumped up from the couch because you could tell something great was going to happen. Then that shake, that bake, and then that pose as the ball went through the net. I felt that one in my heart.
u ain't lieing...anyone and everyone knew Jordan was gonna make it happen....it was magical...I'm so glad I got to watch him even if my teams been struggling since....
Same here. I can still remember the moment like it just happened. I was standing and watching from the moment they came out of the TO until he shot the jumper…after which I was jumping up and down. Every now and then I watch the full video unedited of the last few plays just to relive a piece of that feeling.
the moment i saw "i remember.." what came to my mind right away was my classmate who had a huge bet on a jazz win shout "f*** you mj" seeing that pose after the winning swish, then just walked away saying nothing after john missed the 3🤣😭
@@stevealpers9070 they didn't tho, the truth is everytime MJ has the ball, all the three zebras will be waiting on what move he'll do specially in the clutch so they seldom call for his mistakes and just enjoy the awesome move🤣😂😭
The last 55 seconds of this game encapsulates MJ career. 1-His top tier ability to score. 2-his top tier defense. 3-His top their ability to score when the game is on the line. Clutch in all aspects of the game.
Horrible defense by bulls, as Pip comes to double Karl, defenders lose John who hit open shot. Horrible pass by John, any high school player would see the defender coming to help. Anybody but MJ, and that was an offensive foul. It's plays like this is what Isiah Thomas be talking about. He still hit the shot though
@@keithlott5146 Yeah really. As much as I REALLY loved MJ... he was allowed to not only push defenders off but sometimes he'd shove them nearly to the floor and no whistle. But yeah, he was absolutely CLUTCH
True!!! The Jazz were damn good!!! Jordan was the nemesis to several good teams and players back then. He definitely was the reason many great players retired ringless.
This kind of mindset is what's missing today... Giannis might be the closest one and also the only one right now.....NBA just isn't as exciting as it was 😔
This was the game where Rodman wasn't even getting in stance for rebounds when MJ was at the free throw line 😂. He already knew those shots were dropping. Even on the last shot Rodman was just walking across the court because he knew MJ was gonna nail the shot. Highly recommend anyone who hasnt seen it to look it up. It Was hilarious to watch.
I’m old enough to have seen this play live when I was a kid. The thing I overlooked my dad forced me to watch in high school as a first time point guard. John Stockton’s poise and decision making at every point of the game was unmatched. You’re basically playing against the basketball version of Thanos and you’re the 4th best player on the floor but making all the right decisions down the stretch. This shit was poetry in motion.
It's a shame that the jazz never had the merit they should have, Stockton and Malone were one of the best duos ever, they just had the "bad luck" to play at the same time as Jordan/Pippen
It was like he was painting 🖼😭 the great Monalisa...every stroke of brilliance displayed in such a manner to say JUST DO IT AIRTIME UR AIRNESS complement from the great Sir Charles as Tayshun Prince slowly gave such observations...ect
More like it was the Jazz feeding it into the post relentlessly, so everyone knew what was coming… that’s why the bulls literally sent a double with Scottie and Rodman on the play prior when Malone kicked it for three. Utah was so predictable
Doug Collins, who called the game, said it perfectly. The layup was really a game changer because MJ had scored so quickly, ensuring at least another possession for the Bulls that MJ took advantage of for one of the greatest all time clutch shots.
@@sandae754 That play was literally what any team would do in that situation, Jordan was just too good, too fast, and too clutch. But there's not much IQ put in that play.
@@ImStillLandy Not even the player affected by that or Jazz claimed it was foul and Y'all Lebron fans crying over something that not even the affected team thought it was foul? Soft as hell
GOAT! Growing up watching MJ was spectacular. I'm a Celtics fan and I'll never forget watching him out perform all the the greats. He Lost the game but I was still forever changed. MJ will ALWAYS be the metric in which ALL who follow, will be measured.
MJ fouled, it was a certain hook by today standard. I don't understand how people can ignore this fact and praise this play. For me it is a same that a foul play wasn't called.
@@jschapp77 pushing with your arm like this was always a clear breach of the rules. It just is illegal contact. The fact it could not have a special description for referees does not change that this is a dirty, foul, brutal play and ruins the beauty of basketball. It is quick and fluent, but sometimes it is just grown up men shoving, pushing and wrestling like goats. This is and was my point.
But an "offensive" foul that should have been called. Had Byron Russell done that EXACT SAME PLAY against MJ the refs would of all blown their whistles at the same time to see who could blow the whistle first! It was an offensive foul! It should have been called!
@@rm5282 star power. Be a ref and u call that in a one point game ON MICHAEL JORDAN in the finals. I promise that’s the last playoff series you ever ref and might be out a job. It was a push off tho
Huh? Basketball "didn't get better" than this GARBAGE? Jordan was 11-35 with ONE rebound and ONE assist. The score was 87-86. This would be a mid major game today.
This is the most creatively edited basketball short I've seen. Like the Jazz's bad dream. Zoomed portrait view has Steve Kerr's defense looking impossibly claustrophobic!
Fully agree with your first two sentences. But Kerr didn't even take Stockton out of his rhythm, even a little bit. Ball was always going to the Mailman in the low block.
@@Ghostzapper oh I know, I was kinda joking about how harmlessly Kerr defended Stockton at such a critical moment. We don't see too many possessions that look like this in the modern game
@@Matt-ju9si My bad, I took the exclamation point as literal instead of in jest. That's on me. Wish we did see more possessions like that, I'm with you.
There are so many reasons why MJ is the G.O.A.T, but this last shot before he retired is definitely one of or the one of the greatest. The hard effort to play defense and get the steal, then to take the last wining shot... simply amazing..
@@wokkdied just because lebron has better longevity does not mean he was better at his peak. from 90-98 jordan was the best athlete in the history of our planet
@@Coop0LeFlop put himself in a hole by going down 3-1. That ring is as valuable as any one of Jordan’s six but LeChina fans wanna act like that ring alone makes him the 🐐. It’s not. Stop it, get some help
Legendary. People don’t realize he made that extremely tough shot before, came down and stole the ball from the MVP that year (I think, can’t remember if the mailman won it this year or the year before), and then immediately put Russell on ice skates and hit the prettiest nba finals winning bucket in history. Greatness
You had me up until you said he put Russell on skates. Jordan clearly pushed off lmao. Doesn’t take away from his legacy or the moment of the shot. But he threw that man to the side to get separation
Dude took the shot and just let it hang too. Ice water in his veins. He knew exactly what he had to do and what he was going to do and he didn't with zero panic. 🐐
@@imamaafuckinfoolboiii5183 Everybody knows Wizard days were just a time pass, nothing serious, his and other Bulld teammates great days were over when they won the 2nd 3 peat.
I saw this live, Jordan already had it all, the whole world knew what was about to happen, they just didnt know how yet. But literally everyone knew Jordan was going to make that shot as soon as he stole the ball.
@@ImPsychedelic- KD is so fucking weak they would throw his ass. Curry would be getting hand checked while he doesn't even have the ball 🤣. Bron would be good in every era. Doesn't mean he's better than Jordan.
I’ll never forget how stressful this game was for me until that very last possession.I learned a beautiful lesson as a young teen and it was simply; What’s meant to be, will be.
nah bruh i mean what i say and say what i mean,, but call it what you want ... that lil push with one hand only had 30% impact & 70% of him getting fooled by the move itself. Idk if you watch the game or not but both players being physical against each other throughout the whole game, now that particular play itself sticks out the most because of obvious reasons.
His left hand barely even exerted enough force to push a dude that size and that big, enough to put him down. If you look at the entire body, instead of just Jordan's hand, you can clearly see that the change of direction from Jordan was what made him off-balance, and as soon as he tried to regain his footing, he wasn't in the right position to regain that balance since the momentum from him trying to catch up to Jordan was already sending him down. It eludes me how people keep saying it was a push when, normally, that weak gesture you see as a push is not even close to being able to shove a guy, again, who is as heavy as a filly grown man, athlete, much less over 6ft.
@@andrewerhart7881I think the refs were just like that back then. Remember how Reggie Miller shoved Jordon to hit the game winner and they allowed it?
I used to think there was a push, but there's clearly not. Jordan would have to have super-human strength to push someone right while he's pulling back left.
The ESPN documentary called The Last Dance chronicles the turmoil of the Bulls finals championship run and lots of back story during MJs career with the Bulls. MJ address this very shot and you see an angle of the play where you can clearly tell Russell's own momentum carries him out of the position and Jordan's hand was a non-factor.
Every house in the neighborhood was watching...you could hear people cheering and screaming when Jordan hit that basket. I still was the new young guys in the NBA, but those Jordan years can't be duplicated.
Not push off, Not even the player is claiming foul, not even Utah jazz is claiming that was foul, the only ones claiming it was are Lebron fans and casuals
If you look at it, it’s a 2 finger push. I don’t think it was the difference between him getting open or not. The defender looked intent on heading towards the basket.
Man Jordan deserved that. Came down, drove in for the score, came back and stole the ball and then hit the game winning shot off of one of the greatest moves on a player ever
I was in high school!!! I still remember all those emotions watching this game ❤ Bro! Ugh! I don't watch bball like I used to but I miss watching this type of play. Of course I'm stuck in the "back in my day" but damn! I feel they were more aggressive and had more heart back then 🤷🏽♀️
I'll never forget this game and that moment. This was during the summer before I was about to become a sophomore in high school. Was driving back to Wisconsin with my uncle and sister from visiting my dad in jail in Duluth, Minnesota. We had to listen to the game on the radio and it was the best NBA game experience I had ever witnessed. Made it home late that night and got to watch that play all night on ESPN. Classic!
As a kid from Chicago and actually alive to witness this moment I still remember it was like the whole city screamed wit joy at one time when that ball hit the bottom of the net. Chicago in the 90s during the Jordan era was a vibe
