I will never understand how growing up my mom's motto was "what happens in this house, stays in this house" and "mind your business" and yet she can tell all my damn business. She will take her business/secrets to the grave, but for some reason everybody needed to know my bra and panties didn't match one day.

This is my grandmother 100% based on all the stories my mom has told me over the years 😂😂 I’ve always noticed my mom just says “everyone’s good here” whenever my grandmother calls her and asks about us. That’s as far as it goes.
I have learned to answer my grandmother the same way because I had been spilling my guts to her for years. Then one day when I was in my mid-40s, I realized she was telling me everyones else's business. One day I was like "wait a minute. If she is telling me theirs, she is telling mine too....whoooaaa.HOLD UP!!!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Well let’s go to the house of healing 😂😂😂😂 My grand dad always told his 8 children “you ain’t gon party all night on Saturday, and ain’t got time for the Lord on Sunday”. Lol my mom passed it down to us and no matter how much I partied in my 20’s I made sure I was in church the next/same day 😂
I'll never forget when me and my granny went to an estate sale, she saw an SAT book for sale and started asking the lady how much the book was because I didn't do well on my SATs and I'd need to take them again. She then asked me to tell her what my score was. 😕 Love my granny but it don't take nothing for her to tell family business.

My mom used to do this, but I broke all that up when I started disclosing her business. She let her top lip and bottom lip get back into close relationship real quick.😅This method works for the aunts as well.
My mother and I attended a church concert. During intermission I struck up a conversation with a woman in the pew beside me. At one point I told her “…look at my mother. She’s 72…” My mother never admitted to any age over 29. When she overhead me telling a perfect stranger her age, she stretched her neck, as if she were a giraffe, to give me a scolding look for telling her business.
When i bought my house my father told everyone!! One day I said "daddy, who have you told that I bought a house" his response " just 2 people, because I know you don't like telling your business". When he was staying with me I heard him multiple times describing all the rooms, the front yard, backyard, the trees qnd the neighborhood to people on the phone. I just let him be. I'm so private I only had a prayer meeting with a couple people from church and no housewarming.

When I was a little kid my mom would tell family what I did but as I got older if I asked her to not say anything to anyone she wouldn’t. She’s still the same way today. 🌸

You hit the Nail on the Head with this one. My family comes out of a small town in North Florida. My Moms 2 sisters and one of her brothers moved to Rochester New York and have been their ever since. My Moma would tell one of my Aunts Everything. My mom’s siblings felt real good about leaving the South and never told my mom anything going on with her kids and grandkids. One day I told my mother, you think none of the young people in her family aren’t going through stuff. You know some of them are but she will never tell you anything about her kids and you should take note of that 😂

wow this was so soothing… reminded me when i was little and my mom would be on the phone talking EXACTLY like this to her best friend. You would walk in and hear some of the conversation but you couldn’t stick around too long because you weren’t allowed to be listening to grown folks business.

I cannot tell you how perfect you portray a lot of people’s moms, aunts and grandmothers! It is super funny and also kind of creepy that this is so universal! I can hear myself debating if I want to share something with the mothers in my life because I know the conversations you portrayed will happen between them and their sisters in Christ or close friends. Lol! But I know for them, the only business they usually have going on are their kids’ business and they’re not doing it to hurt anyone, at least for the most part! Lol!
