The novelisation explains that the colosseum is similar to the structures Godzilla's ancient worshippers built for his species. Godzilla, hence, now prefers to sleep in the Colusseum because he misses his worshippers (or something like that). BUT, that is just the in-universe explanation. Adam Wingard was inspired by his cat to make Godzilla do cat stuff, like curling up in the tiny Colosseum to sleep. Takashi Yamazaki also was inspired by his cat for Minus One Godzilla's 'fascination' with planes and the fact that he used his tail to destroy a few buildings in the movie is also how Yamazaki's cat makes things fall.

Gojira's species has the power to affect the weather around them. Like Godzilla's cousin dagon where he can control the weather and lightning when he's around. He's also a protector of humans. Humans that used to worship him as a thunder god

So he does that as a siren to remind the titans he's still here after going inactive. They can communicate/hear with each each other from around the world.

He can sleep in pretty much any type of environment. Most Titans are reduced to living in only one type of environment. Godzilla, on the other hand, can pretty much, live in them all. The only place they can all congregate in are cities. At least, from what we've experienced.
