Monarch's Rambo Nomad is a mountain-style electric bike with a mid-drive bottom bracket especially marketed to hunters. My friend has had it for a year now, so I thought we'd do a quick run-down on it. #Monarch #ebike #hillorstream
That was a short video, sorry I did not have more to say. I should mention that the fender was bought from Rambo Bikes. I purchased the bike with the camo paint job as I am mostly biking in woods but, a solid color is available.
A few years ago I was seriously interested in the Monarch line, even at their premium prices. But ultimately I decided AGAINST mid-drive as I am heavy and strong and am already very tough on bottom bracket, chain, and cogs. And with hub drive one can at least limp home even with a chain break or stuffed derailleur.
Have you considered getting a front hub drive? You could get a front wheel drive kit and install it, you would have 2 screens, 2 throttles and 2 batteries for all wheel drive. Check out the video "...collecting 40mph e-bikes ...", in which someone put 2 hub drives with 2 controllers to make a very fast e-bike.
@@mikecaster4612 I wouldn't want to add all that weight to my Wallke, but have considered FWD to one of my bicycles. AWD would be nice to play with in the early winter, but once things get icy would be nearly suicidal.
@@HillsWorkbench Actually, I was thinking about the hilly trails, AWD would augment your rear wheel power with a front assist. A small 250-watt motor would not make your (already) heavy, fat wheel bike much heavier. The extra battery would add 8 pounds or so, the controller would be 1 pound. But flying down the road faster and having AWD to help boost up a hill, make the bike ride really fun (I have a dual motor e-bike). Also, lets be honest - you are heavy and you over tax the motor on your bike sometimes. A second motor makes sense for you.
