I resonated with one of the things you said when talking about DoTs. I hate that multiple DoTs applied at once all tick together as one. It would feel much more satisfying if each DoT ticked individually

#MondayswithMrHappy Despite its flaws, Sanctuary Island has a great unique feature as a duty: You can access it and pass time there as you wait in queue for another duty to pop or have a party finder up and wait for that to fill. Do you think we'll ever see that feature retroactively added for older side content like Diadem, Eureka or Bozja?

Good day Happy, While trying to think of ways to reduce button bloat, I thought it would be interesting to share it just to hear your thoughts on it. For tanks 1-2-3s, they have the simplist: reduce the three-ish buttons to one button like continuation/solo duties combos/pvp combos. then for melees, something similar as well. (except Monk, cant think or remember it right now): for the non-branching combo parts, put them into one button that works like continuation/solo duties combos/pvp combos. then when it comes to branching paths, players would have a separate button. While some may complain about melees having less skill now, others would be glad of reduced button, if only by just a few. What are your thoughts on this and/or ways to improve it

I disagree with hardcore players being inherently more insightful. I do think hardcore perspectives can be very narrow with only talking about job performance in a very serious day 1 blind prog scenario, which just isn't reflective of how 99% of the playerbase plays the game, even among people that do savage and ultimate. As an example, the hand wringing I've seen from a lot of hardcore players over pictomancer not having a raise but potentially not doing as much damage as black mage making it a really bad pick for prog simply doesn't matter for the overwhelming majority of players. The reason why people lock out jobs in party finder is because people give too much weight to these perspectives and think they're gospel when a lot of what they're saying just doesn't apply to them.

Hardcore played are not more insightful. Most of the time they make really poor gameplay decisions cough cough 2 minute burst window cough cough. Hardcore players are great at identifying problems but are trash at identifying solutions.

Hope all is well! 2 question for the BRD Media Tour Toolkit: (1) Why don't we have an AOE DoT / DoT Spreader for this job? I know it was an odd thing to have pre-EW due to DoTs proccing the songs but now that they aren't linked, I'm kind of shocked they haven't bothered doing it. (2) Why is Raging Strikes not a 60 seconds CD? All the other jobs with personal buffs have it at 60 sooo, why not BRD?

#MondayWithMrHappy Hey Haps, how are you? I had one small observation after watching the job actions trailer, which may not mean anything, but I thought I'd mention it. Usually the new classes or the "poster child" class are put at the beginning or the end of the trailer to build some hype and bookend the trailer. This time however it seemed like the classes were just randomly placed wherever, ending with GNB. Granted, VPR does LB in the intro, so maybe that's it, but it just seems a little odd to me. Any thoughts on that?

The second questions is that can you do a shoutout to yourself for your Partnerversary on Twitch where we are trying to get you to a LVL 51 hype train for the hot tub Mayo Stream? Hey Haps, First time viewer ;) #MondaysWithMrHappy I know SE would ever do this, because profits. But would you like to see them go back and add a 1% drop rate token to old Bozja loot boxes (or insert content here) that, when you collect enough of these bound tokens you can take them to an NPC and exchange them for something worthwhile. Maybe Fantasias, Pure White/Black dye (the Mogstation one that's account bound that's also from the Recruit a Friend Feather exchange), old Mogstation holiday mounts/event glamours/minions etc, the cheap stuff that newer players would love to get that sells for like $1-5 each. T With these just think the drop rate is RNG out of loot boxes (like the coffers from Bozja/Eureka/PotD etc) or guaranteed from hard shit like Criterion/Criterion Savage/BA/Delubrum. A unique way to add value and longevity to clearing some of this stuff. And encourages veterans to come back to them and help newer players clear.

The thing with dark roast, it's true that dark roast has less caffeine if you measure coffee by volume, but the opposite is true when you measure by weight, which is how you should be making coffee.

So I just finished watching the Job Action live letter and while we got a lot of new information, we haven't heard anything about possible stat or battle changes. Will we learn about any more battle system changes in the next live letter closer to release? Or is that it for now?

From a casual perspective Summoner needs 1.5s cast times on Emerald Rite and Emerald Catastrophe. That would have fixed the a lot of the issues with Summoner. Hardcore players ensured Summoner was stuck in the state it was be because they wanted to be a poor man’s WoW Warloclk.

From a casual perspective, Summoner needs at least 30 levels worth of buttons and mechanics, because it plays like a level 60 job at level 90.

@@kos-mos1127 You're contradicting yourself. So Hardcore players at one hand wanted Summoner as a mechanically complex warlock-style class but at the same time they want it as a mechanically super simplistic class that plays on the level that most classes are at in their 60s?

@@shizachan8421 The Affliction Warlock in WoW is mechanically complex because the DoTs tick on their own timer. The Affliction Warlock style Summoner was jank because the Summoner gameplay clashed with the Warlock gameplay. Old Warlock Summoner was not complex it was just lazy design. The current iteration of Summoner is well designed but is lacking the years of polish other jobs had.

@@kos-mos1127 It was functional and just one of the most complex and demanding classes to perform well, sorry, I rather trust in the people who knew how to play it. This is the issue, if SE wants to creat a job anew from scratch, they need to immediately design it with the appropriate level of mechanical complexity. And they have shown that they refuse to polish the job further, instead of building on it we just get a new bahamut which will play the same in Dawntrail.

With the mog tome event starting again, I've always thought they should add mog tome rewards for Crystalline Conflict too, and not just rival wings and frontlines. When the last Mog Tome event started, it happened somewhat early in the PvP season. This definitely hurt the Crystalline Conflict ranked queue pretty badly because of the lack of an event tome reward. Do you think having at least 1 tome for playing, 2 for winning would be somewhat of an incentive to get people either to stay playing Crystalline Conflict, or to maybe give it a shot as a new way to switch up the mog tome grind?

#MondaysWithMrHappy Not a question, but heard your descriptions for those PF groups, and can add some insight into one of the situations you mentioned: When a party leader leaves a group that is full, and creates a new one, they are usually doing so in order for there to at least be 1 open PF group. A lot of people really dislike having tons of people shouting for party invites, especially when there aren't any open PF groups, instead of just making their own PF. At least on Primal, there are quite a few people that do this regularly, so even if there is more than 1 group open, they'll still often make a new group since 7 people is plenty fine for getting maximum rewards.

Greetings Mr. Happy for a #Mondayswithmrhappy Normally I would ask you about your thoughts on the job action trailer and such, but I have a question that is a bit different today. This week I managed to get to a new and stronger PC to play Dawntrail and other titles on and when I booted up the game, I had to do all the minute configurations again. Like, my gearsets, macros, portraits etc. Hence: Is there a way to save these datas on a cloud or something? I personally will have to do so, but for other people that might be a help.

I was wondering, were you keeping an eye on a game called Rabbit and Steel? It's an arcade style rouge-lite with MMO style raid mechanics up to 4 players. Reminds me a lot of ff14, honestly. Dawntrail is promised to be the expansion with the most diverse content offering yet, with adventuring forays, a deep dungeon, variant/criterion, lifestyle content and a new limited job having been announced so far. I was wondering if that meant there would be more content overall than during any previous expansion, or if the total amount of content would be the same but we would get reduced amounts of each type. For example, only 1 adventuring zone, only 1 variant and criterion, a deep dungeon with only 50 floors, etc. Which do you think it will be? Second question, we know that CBU3 was busy with a lot of future proofing tasks during EW, including the MSQ rework and the graphics update, as well as the development of FF16. Do you think that this had an impact on the quantity of side content released during EW? I'm not talking about how long it takes to complete said content, but how long it took to make it. Do you think that there was an equivalent amount of ressources and dev time dedicated to creating side content as there was for previous expansions, or that it was reduced to accommodate for these extra tasks? I'd like to clarify that I do think the ultimate raider perspective IS incredibly valuable because it shows what the jobs achieve when played to an optimised extreme, but the bulk of the game is not playing at that optimised extreme and job feel in all contexts matters.

I think you misunderstood the answer. High end players invest themselves into a job which gives them a level of knowledge that a more casual player doesn't, which includes an awareness and background knowledge of how the job is percieved by the community, including casual play. A casual player cant do that the other way. To paraphrase what Happy said, a casual player likes a job because they like it, thats not very interesting for a podcast.

In the melee job speculation episode of State of the Realm when talking about Reaper it seemed like everyone agreed that it's 'DoT', Death's Design isn't well liked and many people would be happy if it was removed in Dawntrail. I was surprised by that, although my perspective is that of someone who hasn't played Reaper in Savage since the first tier of Endwalker. I quite like how it's a 'DoT' that doesn't quite feel like other DoTs since it's a personal damage increase (even if it basically is the same in practice), and how it's used to get double communios inside buff windows. Plus getting all the gauge in dungeon runs (too much to be honest, like in 'The Fell Court of Troia') by killing mobs feels fun and flavourful as you're literally reaping their souls >:) Would you be able to elaborate on why it's something that people would like to be removed/reworked?

Theirs just hasn't aged well, especially with the direction the PLD aesthetics have been leaning over the years, making it seem more and more ill-fitting and underwhelming compared to other jobs. Do you think there will ever be an rework for the PLD LB3 that brings it more in line with the current PLD aesthetic and the visual spectacle other jobs bring to the table?

The semi-recent changes to the achievements system (claiming rewards from the menu etc) was a really nice QoL update, but the achievement certificates system never gets any love, except for maybe a couple rewards at the beginning of a new expansion. Do you have any ideas how achievement certificates could be updated, except for just adding more rewards, to make them actually worth something. Also where is my Daigoro mount?? 3 mil MGP? yes please thanks

This was something I was wondering about while watching the tank/healer discussion that I don't think came up directly: with tanks and healers already having so many tools to deal with damage, do you think there a point where giving more healing and mitigation tools becomes counter productive as a players who knows their toolkit well can deal with so much that their either don't touch most skills outside of high end raiding or can render their fellow supports in the party redundant? (Warriors in dungeons come to mind) I only started playing at the start of endwalker, so if it's just dealt with by removing skills in the name of button bloat I wouldn't know, but the way people talk about stuff like wanting an extra mit on white mage gives me the impression the support toolkits only meaningfully increase in size each expansion.

In regards to healers getting so many tools that it becomes counter productive, that's not exactly correct. The main problem stems from how the current healing system in the game is designed. Generally speaking, unless the party is massively undergeared and/or people are constantly standing in fire, a competent healer can keep everyone alive almost entirely through oGCD abilities. You typically spend 80-90%+ of your GCD time using your DPS abilities, barring the few situations where there is an actual healing check in a fight or somesuch. Giving healers more tools becomes counter productive *when those tools are just more oGCD abilities*. Healers realistically need to have *less* oGCD abilities, or at the very least, many of those abilities need to be considerably weaker. They should be supplementary to the GCD heals, not able to completely replace them. Ideally, even in most basic content like dungeons and such, a healer should easily be spending ~50%+ of their GCD time on actual heals, rather than damage. In more difficult content, that number should be going up to ~80-90%. This would not only make them feel like actual healers, instead of weak DPS jobs with healing on the side, but would also help things like the currently OP Warrior healing that you mentioned. Just like a healers' oGCD skills, a tanks' healing abilities should be supplementary to what the actual healer does, and not nearly replace it entirely.

For the guy who was feeling guilty over changes I hope he understands it’s just a nostalgia (and sometimes boasting) factor, and can find some of the flip sides/reasons behind the change. Occasionally I hear people talk about stance dancing and just recall the number of times people failed at this or chose poor times to try it such as 24 man raids. Then they get mad while forgetting that things like diversion didn’t drop aggro like the ranged equivalents - it just stopped/paused growth so if a tank didn’t sacrifice a tiny portion of DPS in favor of retaining aggro, then you get a DPS (or healer but I primarily recall DPS having this issue) getting a cone tank buster and taking out the majority of the raid. I learned to pay attention in Orbonne on Aggrias because of how often this happened there. Now sure people can be sad that they can’t stance dance to maximize their damage, but as someone on the flip side who saw plenty of failure on it I don’t miss it in the slightest. Same thing for crafting where some folks miss the old skills, but I don’t miss wasting CP on a skill that just makes it so your basic progress skills don’t fail. Some miss the anxiety but I don’t.

He literally never said it was dead, just that a lot of aspects needed some love to make them more viable long term. Nothing he said was wrong. People go into Bozja to level, but a lot of the time getting groups for parts of it like DR is a chore.
