I'm a Thai, and I think this Khmer dancing is magnificent. Yes, Thai dance did have influence from Khmer, but I still think Khmer dance has much more beautiful details that Thai dance can't match. Khmers should be very proud of their arts because they do really have amazing art and culture. It is so beautiful that Thais wish they can have something like this in their country as well. We are impressed everytime we see Khmer arts, It is just breath taking.
Cambodia and thai are cousins the history telling. They should not pregidise against each others. Half of my family are thai, and half are Cambodia. My mother speak read and write thai language right now we live in US. My mom singing thai national anthem and many thai song, but we are Cambodian American.
@@Ahi_ak07You’re wrong. There is video evidence of Khmer dance teachers prior to the Khmer Rouge dancing in the USA in the same style. Thailand did not teach Khmer dance back to Khmer. Surviving teachers did, and they pieced things back together from video evidence and preserved manuscripts. There is a documentary about Em Theay and several other teachers teaching to new students in the 80s. Stop being misguided on purpose for the sake of nationalist overproud behavior.
Yes, I love this Khmer-Cambodian Classical Dance and the Costumes, please keep promoting and preserving your beautiful culture heritage. Because your costumes, your language and your culture heritage are the only thing that truly represent your identity........This is the ancient Ramayana Classical Dance, when I watch this kind of dances its make me feel so relax
i am from Indonesia, its a beautiful dance, it's look like thai dance but more gantle & smoothly than thai dance i have seen before.. i am very like to see khmer dance, i hope one day i can travel to Cambodia & see direcly the beautiful dance of Khmer there... salute for Cambodia/Khmer...
deddy sulistyo well thanks for low income Khmer Culture!!! But I would love to encourage you that!!! Don’t say that Khmer is like thai dancing naa !! If you learn the History you would know!!! Coz of thai dancing was born from Khmer so you will see similar
Thank for your appreciate with Khmer ballet royal dance. Related to my culture and Thai culture are complexity utilisation each other since we have a history in each other in the past time. Thus, it is similar to each other. However, as you see about valuabilty of Khmer dance's signature. Anyway, I am thank with your appreciate again and welcome to my country land.
The gestures and body movements of the Khmer dance is a language of its own and tells a story. I think Thai is a more modern version of Aspara dance and does more for aesthetic rather than using the dance as story telling.
OH I love this dancing.I've watched this video so many time.I'm so proud of you.I'mThai.But I love all your dancing.I do apologize if someone say something to make you upset.
I'm Lao & I appreciate/enjoy khmer's art/dance very much. 1000yr ago, khmer princess was Lao Lane xane kingdom queen, Her Majesty brought many happiness , art, dance to the kingdom; til present day Lao's royal family still share DNA with the Khmer's royal bloodline.
I am from Myanmar.I have ever seen this dance. It is a nice and so beautiful dance.I love all of khmers' traditions. And I love Cambodia.I will visit to Cambodia soon.
Shwe Eain Si One thing for sure is we both have a common enemy, the Thai’s. They love to steal and take advantage of the less fortunate. We should support each other. All the surrounding countries bordering Thailand hate Thai people, because they created this hate. Even Vietnamese don’t care about them.
@@sirisaktanok, but I heard your Thai have a lot of K-pop fan, y u don't tell them to listen this kind of music? Because it so so so ( se weet ) Thai sound in English
It is saddening to see the dislikes. These women are dancing one of the most beautiful dances in the world, they deserve more. This Thai vs Khmer dispute needs to stop. Whoever was the first to dance this type of dance should be proud that other people adopted it, not angry. Please abandon hatred and keep yours eyes open :).
It's from the Thais side. They want khmers to acknowledge that it their dance since they say they colonized Cambodia at one point. But this art existed in khmer culture since the ankorian Era. Even if we have proof of hand gestures on the walls of angkor they still refuse to accept the fact that khmers existed way before their culture existed and that their culture was heavily influenced by khmer culture. From art, religious customes, architecture, written and spoken language. It doesn't matter what they think khmers know better and what is ours will always be ours 😊
Yes. This is so beautiful. I agree to the previous comment that anger and hatred should stop. Khmer should be proud of themselves for inventing such wonderful art from time immemorial. You Khmer should just ignore sirisaktan's ignorant comment; he is not the only ignorant western neighbor out there, as I have observed. You Khmer as an inventor of this art should focus on a positive energy to preserve, educate and inform the world about your art; and people shall know that this is yours. As a student of history, I have learned that your present western and eastern neighbors have falsely claimed what is rightfully yours. That is because some of them are completely ignorant and others are politically motivated.
Khmer Angkorian are powerful and prosperious country it’s rise to its glory for centuries its Territories its massive in size and density that’s expanded to half of South East Asia mainland as the whole Cambodia , Laos , Vietnam , Thailand modern day . But through many looted and raids on multitude occasions from few neighboring countries , Khmer Empire diminished in size and Khmers outlying provinces were lost from adversities conflicts . Until this day. Ancient Khmer Empire is massive that’s explain the testimonies that Cambodia is heavily influence as martial arts, cultures, clothings , dance classic toward neighbors people that they embrace and adopted Khmer Angkorian culture and histories into their own race .

@ Summithsingbumrung : Of course it is not Thai. Thai dances and music has no religious essence in them, they are just quick dances and their music is fast and noisy. Different than the slow and majestic , religious Khmer dances and music. Btw I am from Indonesia, and I think Khmer's music is more like Javanese gamelan or serimpi dance
@@sumithsingbumrung7806You people still provoking others like you did in the 13th century? Still staying primitive and barbaric I see. Nothing has evolved from this nation other than venues for foreign tourists and the sex industry
I am from thailand, and I personally think this dance is beautiful, very beautiful. Art is something to be appreciated......... I don't care who copied who, becuase there r so many things going on in this world.
I live in Thailand for long time, most of foreigners never talk and know about Thai culture only talking about sex sell or sexual tourism. 90% of Thai dance are copies from Cambodia especially classical dance like loburi dance. Really crazy
Stop lying with your ignorance. "Siam" comes from a Sanskrit word "S'yama" meaning dark and brown. Simon de la Loubere recorded in 1688, during King Narai's reign, that Siamese were dark and red skin. He also recorded that the Siamese had the classical Khon make dance and other royal dances even before that time. And Laos is also a Tai-kadai speaker much closer to the Siamese than the Cambodian, culturally and historically. But even Laos are lighter skinned than the Siamese. Now there are tens of million of Chinese (immigrants) is Thailand so Thai people have mixed with Chinese. There used to be much more Chinese in Cambodia. But murderous Khmer killed Ungrateful Khmers betrayed Siam who helped crown King Narodom in Bangkok. The Khmer people revolted against their own king and the Thai had to help seat Khmer crown prince on the throne. Without the Siamese, the khmer would not even have the monarchy or other traditions, or arts. But they were ungrateful people. Even the Burmese came from Tibet. The they conquered the ancient Mon people who used to rule that country. Now don't have their own country. Vietnam used to be the Champa kingdom. Now the Cham people are gone. The murderous KHMERS KILLED 500k, HALF A MILLION, CHAM PEOPLE during the Khmer civil war. Khmers are genocidal. Look to your crime before blaming others.

@loveourphuket I think you're wrong ! This is the original dance by Cambodian dancers and performed the first in 60's by HRH Queen Sisowat Neary Roth Kossamak ! Don't say all khmer dances are copied from thai dance! And , also all khmer people will say this khmer dance !
Got from India, but different from India, But u guy Thai got from Khmer, and lie yourself got from India. And u guy thai or siam try to make confusing with Khmer. Bad nation in the world is Thai or Siam.

personally, i think that anyone who says some culture copies from another is dumb, obviously culture will ultimately influence another. Also, there is no room for hate comments in this video, and anyone who disliked this video obviously has no room for appreciating ART, its very mesmerizing, calm and it puts you at ease, i dont see why anyone can hate this video, let alone the culture.
Khmer Dance Project digitalcollections.nypl.org/items/a12c5400-3451-0131-ec7d-3c075448cc4b This is the interview with his excellency Son Soubert on August 21, 2009 At the Constitutional Council in Phnom Penh His excellency Son Soubert talked about his grandmother, who was a dancer during the reign of King Sisowath. My grandmother was named Puk Proeung. She was daughter of Okna Rajavinichhay Sou Puok. She was born at the end of 19th century and she died in 1973. At that time whenever a minister had a daughter, It was the tradition to offer her to the King. That’s why my grandmother danced in the Royal Palace. Suppya (Interviewer) I’d like to know if you’ve heard of dance manuscript was written in Thai? Some dancers were reluctant to confirm this. I heard people singing in Thai We should be aware that King Ang Duong stayed in Bangkok. King Mongkut of Thailand helped King Ang Duong take the throne. And drive out Vietnamese troops from Cambodia. When King Ang Duong back to Cambodia some Thais accompanied him. Whether we like it or not, Cambodia was under Thai influence at that time. I heard that at the end of 19th century and in the early 20th , songs were sung in Thai language. It was during the reign of King Sisowath that songs were translated into Khmer. Em Theay still knew Thai songs and she was my grandmother’s student. In the past we didn’t use ‘Pinpeat’ music but Thai music. A lot of people during the Angkor era were seized and sent to Thailand. Thais learned from Khmers and preserved the culture until it got back to Cambodia. They all learned how to dance and sing in Thai.
WHY THE DISLIKE!! I SEE IGNORANT HATERS! Some of yall need to check your history. B/C the Khmer(Cambodian) Kingdom is 1 of the oldest &most powerful kingdom in all of Southeast Asia back then. The Khmer were century ahead of the thai. The Thai didn't even exist yet when the Angkor Period(Khmer) was dominating Southeast Asia. The Siamese were still scavenging around the border of modern day Lao_ While the Khmer Empire were already an establish kingdom. ANGKOR WAT IS OUR LEAGACY & SPEAKS THE TRUTH!
To . KhmerWarroir. Now we accepted that Thai people don't came from Altai mountain. Thai and Khmer are related to Silendra dynasty that built Ankor Wat. So , Do you know about Trosok pream? Where is the Khmer people came from?
