"This lady is a walking, talking red flag." The words of a wise man.

Tony ‘The Ant’ Spilotro was portrayed brilliantly and accurately right down to the resemblance. The scene when he’s with his lawyer, trying to get away from reporters is frame by frame realistic to the point that the real lawyer plays himself…then became mayor.

The lady playing the underboss's mother in the grocery store was the director's mother. The fellow playing the curly headed enforcer who was involved in many of the murders at the end was Frank Culotta, who actually was an Outfit gangster/enforcer. He was also a consultant for the film and the inspiration for the Frank Vincent character.

Joe Pesci said that the scene in the desert where he yells and curses at D’Nero when D’Nero just pulls back and let’s Pesci curse him out was significant, because as he said “no one reems D’Nero like that.” So it meant a lot that he was willing to pull back and let it happen in the scene.

Great reaction as always, thank you! Since you mentioned the adorable mother in the film who hated hearing her son swear…that was Catherine Scorsese, Martin’s real life mom. ❤️ She has been in several of Martin’s movies, including GoodFellas, playing Pesci’s mom. Loved seeing her in his films. 🙂

Sharon Stone really held her own with two heavyweight actors. She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

I think she should have won. Just her opening scene where she’s so beautiful and appealing in spite of being a walking red flag - I mean, you can see both at the same time, that’s extremely impressive to pull off. I don’t know who beat her for the Oscar but I can’t believe that her performance was better than Stone’s.
@kenlangston3451
@kenlangston3451 2 года назад
@@MDK2_Radio I was wrong. She was nominated for Bedt Actress not Supporting. But the actresses nominated for Best Actress in 1996 are all incredible. Susan Sarandon won for Dead Man Walking. Elisabeth Shue (Leaving Las Vegas), Meryl Streep (The River Wild) and Emma Thompson (Sense and Sensibility) were all nominated that year. I agree though Stone should have won. She did win the Golden Globe though.

@@johnnyboy7144 I honestly think the Academy didn’t take her seriously as an actress in Casino even though she was fantastic. She had been mostly known for so called “junk food” films like Basic Instinct and Total Recall before that. She was great in both of those don’t get me wrong but those are the kind of films the Academy looks down on. To be honest if she had been nominated for Best Supporting Actress that year I think she would have won easily. That was a much weaker field with Mira Sorvino winning for Mighty Aphrodite.

29:16 - For all the times I've seen this movie, I never noticed the fight in the background. 😂 30:17 - Love, be it real or imagined, is a powerful force. That's why he's still with her. Been there, done that, got the club jacket. 31:45 - "Manipulation 101," CI! If she can get Nicky to kill Sam, she can take everything without a fight. 34:22 - The toxic relationship is what makes this more than a mob movie. Two plotlines interwoven perfectly to make it the glorious mess we know and love that we call "Casino." 35:44 - Another one I know from experience. Regardless of how evil the woman is, her accusations will always trump the man's in a domestic dispute. As the cop told me, "The law protects the woman in these things." (I could explain this further, but it was one of the great traumas of my life.) Sharon Stone was the only person to receive an Oscar nomination. The movie got no Oscar wins. 🙁

I threw my head back and laughed, because I knew what was coming in THIS movie. The last one they did together, "The Irishman", is great (although I think that one is FOUR hours!!!!). That's got Al Pacino in it as Jimmy Hoffa. ("Donnie Brasco" with Pacino and Johnny Depp are also worth watching. And DeNiro and Scorsese made two other huge movies that no one has done yet, for some bizarre reason: "The King Of Comedy" and "Cape Fear". Those two are musts. (They also did "Taxi Driver" and "Mean Streets" together. "Mean Streets" is their first mob movie together, the one that put them on the map. Harvey Keitel is both of those movies as well, another Scorsese "vet"!

Every time my grandmother tossed me $20 I turned it into $500. I was bringing in $5000 a week. I got greedy and the casino caught on. It was fun while it lasted. The older gentleman that did the hits at the end of the movie is in Frank Cullato in real life. Nicky's sidekick in the film. The one who lied about Nicky and Ginger having the affair

Awesome reaction! Ty Caped! Loved the way you got so pulled into their relationship from the word go. I just watched your reaction to Goodfellas a few days ago so this was perfect timing. The cinematography in this film was so stylish back then and felt almost "glossy" on the big screen. It was also fashionable to begin the movies with the end. Great cast, great film, great director. However, I definitely prefer Goodfellas.

This old white haired women is the mother of Joe Pesci's character in Goodfellas who serves them all dinner while Billy Batts is dying in the trunk, and in real life, is the mom of the director Martin Scorsese.

The characters in this movie are all based on real life people. There's plenty information available on RU-vid about this.

Yeah, Vegas was about 50% mob-run in one way or another in the 1970s (and earlier, of course), probably less than that once the decade turned. By the late 80s, however, a different type of gangster moved in, people like Mr. Wynn and Mr. Kerkorian who owned what was left of MGM. Of course Kerkorian had been there since the late 60s after the old movie studio shut down, but he increased his presence in LV by the 80s.
