The "I'm Funny How" scene was improvised by Pesci. It comes from an exchange that Pesci had in his life with a real mobster. Scorsese let Pesci bring it into the scene and only Liotta was wise to it, so Pesci and Liotta could work it out. The reactions you see from the other actors are real, because the exchange was not in the script at all. It's a really good scene.

@C127-u9s
@C127-u9s 2 года назад
@@justmeeagainn I'm not playing like I'm an insider, that information has been around for years, so it's really common knowledge at this point. If you go to 6:53 of the video CI says, "That worries me though, how he had everybody else fooled too. Nobody knew he was joking." The point I was making is that none of the other acters around Pesci and Liotta knew what was going on, so the reactions were genuine. When CI said, “nobody knew he was joking” is exactly right; no one knew. That information is more for CI to understand how that well that scene was executed.

Greatest amusing line of film: "He shoots him inna foot, he tells em ta go fock himself..." Always makes me chuckle. The truck driver actually mouthed "2 Italians just stole my truck", but they overdubbed that other word to better reflect what a white truck driver of the 60s woulda likelier assumed/said w/o fear of cancellation. Henry's "I'm gonna kill you in 30 secs look" when Karen had the S&W in his face was unspoken funny (it's a movie, remember). Henry as teen most def was a perfect child rep of Liotta, tho the blue contacts were visible. Tommy's line, "I worry about you sometimes, Henry, ya MAY fold under questioning!..." were no truer words spoken. Having heard real Henry Hill numerous times, it was clear that he actually did have zero compunction about goin right to the FBI after he himself Fd everything up, he always looked out for #1 only.

"Anyway, where ARE duh shovels?..." was good, too. They gotta have lye n shovels n kitchen knives handy in that life. Liotta stepped on Bracco's last two fingertips after the gun in face scene, she audibly gasps in pain, but held character. That's a vet.

I always emphasize this when looking at movies and TV shows with money is to take infation into account so $100 in 1955 is about $1,000 today, so imagine giving a 13 year old $1,000 just because you can!

Its not really some cold shit killing Tommy. He fucked up. Bad. He broke the 1 and onky rule. Made guys are off limits. That's kind of the whole point of the thing. You have protection. If they allow guys to walk them for nothing what's the point of kicking up to the boses?

You react well to movies. You actually take scenes in and aren't blabbing thru the entire film like 9 outta 10 reactors do. Then they constantly ask dumb questions because they talked thru key, informational moments.

And get this. In the end Henry had the last laugh. He outlived every single one of them. And the bounty on his head was not only never collected it got rescinded due to the fact the ones involved in making it were dead. All the successors decided Henry was nothing and no need to get him. Hence why Henry did so many interviews and so many documentaries for the channel Reelz (footage used for like 3 different shows) and an ESPN 30 for 30 on a point shaving scandal involving the Boston College men’s basketball team.

Henry's life was a complete mess after this though, so the last laugh was really more of a light chuckle than anything else.

While this is a well crafted movie, I need a main character I'm pulling for, for me to be interested. That being said, the "do I amuse you" scene, is my top scene in any movie. Ray had good reactions, but Joe acted his ass off.
