We have decided that not only will we give some free merch to the First and Second viewers that get the correct number of #2's right in this video! We will also be selecting a couple of random viewers that also get the correct number some merch as well! We will let you guys know who wins on Saturday!
My experience of 17 years in a two bathroom motor home with two black tanks and two gray tanks.......you better use your chemicals, and only "one ply T paper". Even then, when you are sitting on a lot for a long period of time, you better have a "snake" ready and a bucket, gloves to boot. Chemicals can only do so much in long term sitting. Now if you are never sitting longer than a week, moving around and tank content (whether little or more) is constantly shifting around, I can see using any of the RV only papers and possibly the fourth one on the test table. I have to say that you may be the only person that has done such a test for the public! Good job!
Thank you! We travel fulltime and usually move every 7 to 10 days so our conditions may be different than most! I was torn between only water or do I add treatment! I was then worried I would be testing the treatments and not the TP! Now for my next test I may take one Brand of TP and test all the different tank treatments and see what the results are! We move so much water throughout system regularly I believe we could use any paper and be fine!
Having a snake is great advice, I will definitely bring one for my third trip ever soon. Thought I had a clog on my second trip, will not be without a snake again!
Well, some people would say TMI when talking about #2!! But (no pun intended) this was a pretty good experiment with no chemicals used like one would add to the tank. I have watched another channel and they have used Costco brand with no problems. We usually get the Scott's RV and have pretty good luck with it!! Thanks for taking the time to make this video!!
We heard about that video with the chemicals in their experiment! Haven't had a chance to check it out! We are thinking about doing a follow up video with chemicals to test for ourselves!
I'm commenting at the 4:25 mark with my #2 S.O.P.: I use my toilet for what it is made for and now use Charmin Ultra Soft. This was after I was got duped into buying the over-priced RV Safe t.p. and it was due to a video I watched here on YT. Another video (black tank maintenace) taught me to use lots and lots and lots of water when going #2. I also use the product TST Max. It smells like fresh squeezed oranges, and seems to liquify most of the #2 and t.p. in the tank with the exception of a last minute #2 session. Ok, back to your video now!
There are so many variables as in tank treatments and water so I wanted to use a fixed amount of water and Toilet paper and so how it broke down with just water! I believe I will revisit this test and next time I will see what the different tank treatments do aid in breaking down the TP! After this test we could probably use any type of TP and be just fine!
The great value did very good with out agitation in my first test! After agitation they were all very much the same! I think if your fulltime you could use any brand as long as you use enough water!
We are a Scott family at home. It’s not that bad. Septic man told us that is the best. Hey number two is very important and I’m glad you did this video. 👍😂 I’m just guessing 156 times.
We always use our RV toilet for #1 and #2. That is why we have a RV, also having our own bed to sleep in. Plus we love camping…lol.. We do use the Scott’s RV tissue. We would like to see what happens with RV toilet chemical added to see how much it help dissolve the tissue. Congratulations on your new baby boy!
Thank you! Baby boy is doing great! We use scotts RV as well and it has worked great for us! I think I will be redoing the test this time with tank treatments to see how they help!
I use the Scott 1000 at home and decided to use in my first ever new RV and it did very well. At home with the Scott 1000 in the tank and I do a #1 on it it disappears. After emptying my tank no paper comes out because it has totally dissolved. Thanks for doing this now I feel very confident using Scott 1000.
Hi guy's this is a topic I never thought of and that's why I watch you guy's so I know what I'm getting into your great teachers. I miss Lisa and the girls and now your new boy. If I never get the chance to go full time. I find it a great learning and living vicarious through your videos Keep up your great videos. Didn't count number two's as I live outside the US.
Thank you! We are gearing up to hit the road again so only a few more of these types of videos and we will be back to our fulltime traveling adventures!
We do the #2 in the camper and we use Kirkland TP from Costco. All good so far! No special stuff for us. The special stuff costs too much! What a topic...I chuckled through this one!
We are firm believers in #2 in the RV, that's why we got one with two bathrooms! We use the Scotts RV and lots of water and have only had a problem once and it was my fault for being a little relaxed on my maintenance days!
64 times on the #2. I bought an RV with toilets for a reason otherwise I may have considered a pop-up haha. My toy hauler has 2 bathrooms and that was on purpose with a family of 5. I’m not running anywhere to take care of business haha. It’s all about maintenance and it’s not really that difficult once you understand. #1 WATER IS YOUR FRIEND, gotta use enough water, #2 Unique family of black tank treatments are the best I have found, #3 don’t rely on the black tank flush built into the RV, I used to dump 5 gallon buckets of water down the throne but now I have one of those RV toilet wands with the spinning spray nozzle by Camco, so much easier. Knock on wood we have not had black tank issues yet. Lack of use of water because folks think by using minimal water will extend time between tank dumps seems to be the biggest cause of black tank issues in my experience.
I used to think conserving water was better too, until I saw a bunch of folks talking about how more water is better. Made sense and I changed the way I use water. Never had a problem yet either!
That is why we have an RV with two bathrooms as well we are not running anywhere for the #2! We use lots of water and have only had a poo pyramid issue once and it was because I neglected my pre travel day maintenance for a few moves, and it caught up to me! I am actually curious about trying the experiment again this time with different tank treatment to see if they help break down the TP! Now that we have a control on what happens with just water it would be interesting to see the differences!
We had it once and we fixed it by filling the tanks from the toilet and flushing multiple times! It took roughly 7 fill and dump cycles to get it all out of there!
Also I'm good with another camper winning merchandise, I'm just pleased you spent SO much time on this experience. It opened my eyes for sure! Thank you!
We use the scotta rv and have only haf a problem when we neglected some pre travel day maintenace! We use happy camper, borax and dawn and have great results!
I use Scott 1000 sheet style only. Generic works too. The other stuff is not great for plumming , esp septic tanks, (we are a "skilled trades family, so lots of exp with this stuff. Lol) also makes some of us have , uhhh umpleasant rashes. Never had an issue with the 1000 sheet varieties, I get which ever is cheapest, most are very similar. I also never shop at that store. Unless it is an emergency. Great info ty ! Someday I hope to be able to do the rv & travel thing. So these videos are perfect. Very appreciated. !!
We use the Scotts RV and have had good luck! After this video I believe in our set up and how we use the system we could probably use any brand of TP and be fine!
Thanks for doing the experiment. We use the Northern brand and I feel it work good enough for us. The only time we have had issues is when we did not use enought water. We have changed our procedures to always flush twice when paper is involved. After watching several videos on this subject, that appears to be the best suggestion I've come across. We also use Tank Techs in our tank, it also appears to be a very good product. If only there was a solution for the sensors, ours are always stuck on some level.
We use Scotts RV TP and have only had a problem once and it was self-induced by skipping a few pre travel day maintenance procedures! We use the Bio Geo Method so our tanks have Dawn, Borax and Happy Camper in them! This seems to do a great job at keeping the tanks clean and free, but I have yet to find anything that will make the sensors read correctly!
Great testing! I've been RVIng about 10 years and travel about 4-8 times per year. I used RV toilet paper at first then decided to try regular TP one trip. That was the trip that the toilet clogged multiple times and I had to find a suitable stick in the woods to assist in poking the clogs down 😂. Perhaps the kids just used too much TP but it's been RV TP ever since and there have been no more clogs 😁.
We use Scotts RV and have never had an issue! After this experiment, because we live in it full time and move a lot of water through our system, I think we could use any TP and be ok!
I decided in 1994 to use my regular TP from Sams Club or Costco. What I did was use a clear mayonnaise jar and put in some paper and water and shake. It all dissolves, and no worries about TP in the RV. Try a few sheets of any brand you like, and shake in the water. It will dissolve and is approved for RV use. I have never bought RV TP since 1992. I lived in my RV from 2005 until 2013. My test only lasted about 1 hour. I always us a lot of water with each flush, and never had the dreaded poop pile stuck in the tank. However it is possible to have a little stuck TP on the tank sensors, and it will show empty and 3/4 full at the same time. This indicates a little TP on the sensor. Draining every week is kind of a waste of chemicals, but I understand that 10 days is a bit much for most families. I joined the Escapees RV club and stayed in many of their parks. They had a nominal overnight fee, and charged for electric if you went over a certain amount. They have several parks across America. I loved the park in Coursegold, outside of Yosemite. There are several others in California and Oregon, Washington. The one near Benson AZ is also very nice. I didn't camp to much in the east, where there is a lot of humidity! The Grizzly Giant Tree in Yosemite, it is 33 feet in diameter! I bet you are googling that now! The lowest branch is 105 feet above the ground! And the diameter of that branch where it meets the tree trunk is huge, larger than the trees you saw in South Carolina. In Sequoia NP, there is a bunch of trees over 8 feet in diameter. I installed a pair of 120 watt solar panels, and dry camped a lot more than stay in RV parks. Of course back east, finding dry camping locations is a lot more difficult than out west, where there is a lot of BLM land.
Yes water is key for rv toilets! We are about to do a second test with products just to show how each of the brands do with chemicals since our first test surprised us with just water and no agitation. We can't wait to check out Yosemite and definitely Google the Grizzly Giant Tree! Added it to our list, thanks!
The quilted northern is triple ply, the others are 2 ply. The quilted northern did great considering it’s the only 3ply that broke up like the 2 ply and it won’t leave poop on your finger.
We think after doing this experiment, since we do use ours fulltime and move a lot of water, we could likely use any TP and be fine! If we were stationary, I would stick with the RV type!
I look at it this way, if a baby wipe is good enough for a baby, they are good enough for me. Then in a trash can by the throne. TP is just to dry as needed and in the trash. Works great for us.
Interesting take but the experiment shows that just about every TP will dissolve the same when agitated! So using plenty of water will allow you to freely go #2 and not have to have that trashcan by the throne!
We thought it would be a fun little give away! We actually didn't think about it until about halfway through filming when Alecia asked are you saying #2 so many times on purpose? So she had the Idea we should count them and do a giveaway!
Yes, we found it very tricky to figure out because our first time watching we only counted the times I said #2 when referencing #2 not all the other times I said #2 as in maybe what place the contestants were in!
only policy with number 2 is to flush for at least 10 seconds so enough water gets into the system to keep it from stacking up.. Beyond that we've got rv toilet paper, dump after each trip and have never had a problem. By the way, I love how you make toilet paper testing so entertaining. You guys rock.
Thank you! It was the first time I ever considered doing a TP montage with music! We use the Scotts RV and plenty of water! We also use the Bio Geo Method in our black tanks, Dawn, Borax and Happy Camper!
We do not have a macerator toilet in our RV! But maybe one day if a company wants to give us a Macerator pump I could give it a try there are times its application would be useful for us!
We have all #2's welcome here policy just use plenty of water! We use the Scotts RV TP and after this video we realized we could probably use any TP as they all look the same after agitation!
We’ve had several different RV’s over the past 20 years, just bought a new one. We go out several times a month: In all those years, we’ve NEVER had a problem with our tanks. The truth of the matter is simple! Always always always use One Ply toilet paper! We do use RV toilet paper, we always have, but that toilet paper is one ply and feels cheap. If you don’t want future tv plumbing issues, always use one ply cheap paper OR RV toilet paper. For the people that have a no #2 RV policy, I’d like to know the purpose of owning an rv with a bathroom!
We use Scotts RV and never had a problem that was related to the TP! We had a Poo Pyramid one time but that was my fault for skipping some maintenance procedures I usually do on pre travel day! I think after this experiment because we do live in it fulltime and move a lot of water through the system, we could us any TP and be fine! We are very pro #2 in our RV that's why we have two bathrooms we plan on using them!
We have a no poop policy unless it’s an emergency, either while traveling or at the site. After three yrs, the emergency has not happened. The reason we want a bathroom, is to pee, shower, brush teeth, shave etc. of course we stay at places with bathhouses to poop. It’s nice to clean out the black tank and not worry about poop. To each his own.
We are also #2 all day kind of people! Thats why we got an RV with two bathrooms! We use the Scotts RV but think after this experiment we could use any type and be just fine!
We never even considered the flushable wipes for the test as most people are against just regular Toilet Paper in an RV! I have decided there needs to be another round of testing this time we will introduce tank treatments!
Have you ever used Pure Power that turns waste into liquid and toilet paper into a liquid inmthe black tank. Mom and I used regular toilet paper and never had problems in the tanks and I also used it for my septic tank. It uses no bad cimicals.
You were close it was 64! I never thought I would make a video about #2, but here we are! We think after the experiment we could use any TP and be fine!
@@PavingNewPaths covid 19 caused a run on tp, at least in Missouri, for a bit of time people were limited on how much tp they could buy, lol. It was stupid.
I use Costco TP. We had a clog, and we learned that we can’t just leave the black tank open while hooked up to water sewer. What we do now is close the tank and when full, flush it completely. It’s about every other day or so.
We always keep our tanks closed and only dump when as full as possible! We usually go about 7 days before we are full, and I usually do several flush cycles before hitting the road again!
We take a #2 anytime we want in our camper. We do have a trash can in our bathroom, so we don't flush TP down. Once we go FT in our camper, it could change to where we do wind up flushing TP down. We're just not comfortable yet and are worried it will cause sewer issues.
We have been living fulltime in ours for almost 2 years now and only had the one problem, but it was due to skipping some pre travel day maintenance! As long as you keep your tanks closed, use lots of water and only dump when full you will be fine!
We are very happy with our #2 policy and have only had a problem once and it was because we failed to keep up with our maintenance procedures on pre travel days! Water is the key to keeping the TP in its place!
In other peoples #2 TP videos, GV Everyday Soft was either a tie or winner. Good video. So, if you dump every 7 days, you have TP that is 7,6,5,4,3,2,1, and just dropped in. End result, lots of water is key!
Yes, I know that it would be paper at every stage that is why I did the 7-day test so I would know at every stage what the paper is doing! The final result to me is just about any TP breaks down the same with some agitations. Also, water is your friend it is free to dump so use as much as you can every time!
@@PavingNewPaths In our old RV, the toilet and the RR sink both went to black tank. Don’t ask how I found out. The point is, you may be putting more water than you might think.
I wonder how many times this experiment has been done. I was a little surprised at ANGEL SOFT, it normal wins hands down. But it was done with one sheet of each in one cup of water and it was stirred. In the test I saw if I remember correctly they were stirred for one minute, I could be wrong about time. This test won't be the last I'm sure. Thanks for the memories! LOL
I realize now there are so many variables that I need to revisit this test again! I think I need more buckets, one as a control where we don't do anything, one that has tank treatments, and one that is agitated! I need to think about it some more but there is defiantly more testing that needs to be done!
I have noticed some of the regular toilet paper (angel soft) says septic safe on the packaging. I am being told septic safe is a good one to use in the RV. Can you confirm?
I have laughed a lot during this video 😂 thinking about a person in a hurry to get to the bath house to go #2 and someone wanna stop to talk 😄😵. And your last video about the F350 & F450.. The introduction cracked me up too, the difference is this 1 is red & this 1 is black 😄😄.
our policy is only go #2 if you need to during the evening/night, but during the day make the walk to the campground facilities. but I'm curious if you have ever had issues with black level sensor readings on your RV, and if so, what worked best for you to fix the situation.
We go #2 fulltime and have only had a black tank issue once and we caused it by skipping some pre travel day maintenance! On travel days we use Borax, dawn and Happy camper in the tanks with about 10% tank capacity of water to let it move around while towing! Our sensors work about half the time! we have learned to not rely on them!
Our tech even told us not to rely on the sensors. And we do the same, if we have a trailer full of family we will use the site's facilities when possible lol but at night we use the trailer. That's what we bought it for.
We use it 24/7 thats why we got one with two bathrooms! Our sensors work pretty good at saying its full, but we learned to watch for the burp when flushing to gauge the level! We usually find out thr Gray is full when the sinks stop draining!
Yeah if we are alone we just use the trailer 24/7 but with 2 daughters, a son in law and 2 grandkids we would rather not flush it out on a daily basis 🤣
The only reason why I don't go number two in our RV is I'm 6'4 and I weigh 250 lbs. I don't feel the toilet will hold me. Maybe for a little while but I don't feel like replacing it for the sake of number two. 💩🤣 I was wondering which was these toilet paper will hold up the taco Tuesday extreme Hot sauce?
We have two bathrooms onboard and we freely go #2! After this experiment we feel we could use any brand of TP as we live in ours fulltime and run a ton of water through the system! If we were stationary, we would likely stick to RV toilet paper only!
I've got a class A diesel and drop bombs every day probably twice a day. I back flush as often as possible. And also use digester often or deodorizer. Or even bleach. Its like try anything and after emptying the black tank. Put some regular fresh water in and then drive with about a minute or two worth of water after it has been back flushed
We use our bathrooms exactly the same we used our house that is why we got an RV with two of them! We do a very thorough flush and dump procedure before traveling, we also fill our tanks with about 10 gallons and treatment to let it move around and clean the tank on travel days!
Your black tank is NOT a septic tank. It’s simply a holding tank! Do not use chemicals to break the material down. Something for odor is ok but you don’t want to break it down because you’ll end up with a hard to remove sludge that’ll coat your sensors and never fully empty. You can also use whatever TP you prefer. And Rt tank cleaning company will tell you these same things.
We fully agree with you that it is just a holding tank! The video was not about what chemicals are in the tanks, but how different brands of toilet paper react to just water in your tanks! We feel that after this video if you use enough water any toilet paper can be used in an RV! We did a follow up test to see how the different chemicals react to the Toilet paper you can check out here! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RSY9nnXN66M.html We don't use any chemicals that aid in the breakdown of the contents of the tank! We have had great success with some dawn, borax, and happy camper to help with odor!
We hav been full timers 10 yrs in our open range, and never used rv TP, we do the flush n dump, w/ dawn dish soap n the caper chem, we use whatever tp, premium is on sale, charmin, or cottonnell
We think after this experiment we could use any TP and be just fine! We also are always on the move, so we dump and flush often and have a lot of water going through the system weekly!
I purchased 2 Luxe bidets and had to fabricate them just a little bit to make them work on a standard camper toilet and saved $800 on not having to buy Cometic elongated toilets. I use no paper personally as I pat myself dry with a towel guests use paper but put it in the trash can not in the toilet
We have actually never had issues with TP and wanted to see if the type of TP used even matters! We think after this experiment we could use any as we are never stationary for very long and we move a lot of water through our system! We also think a follow up experiment involving the different types of tank treatments should be done!
Always use the alternative if there is one but don’t be scared to use your head as it was intended. Having said that, the problem is using too much toilet paper of the wrong kind Some make a big ball of TP which is disaster waiting both at home and in the RV You want a disaster buy a vacuflush system You have to use single ply, all other systems seem to be fine with double ply unless it’s made into a huge ball
We use scotts RV and have never had a problem! We got an RV with two bathrooms because we intended to use them! After this experiment we believe because we move so much water through our system on a weekly basis that we could use any type of TP and be just fine!
I considered that but my RV when parked is not shaking so I wanted to see what TP sitting in water would look like! Besides flushing of the toilet there is minimal agitation when sitting still so I was curious!
You can pretty much use any spetic safe TP they all dissolve well enough I don't think many people would have issues the RV TP is way more expensive for crap toilet paper id rather use sand paper
I work for an RV, rental company and I always tell folks, use RV specific TP, flush with plenty of water and use your tank treatments (for the love of all things holy). If there is ever a clog when the rental units return… 90% of the time it’s Charmin, toilet paper jammed in the neck pipe of the toilet. The other 10% is a toilet paper/poo mountain in the bottom of the tank where they haven’t used enough water when flushing. Either way… It’s miserable to clean up. 😂😂😂
We live fulltime and have only the poo pyramid once! We believe it was from us being a little lazy on our maintenace days before we moved! We went back to never skipping a through dump and flush before moving and have never had the problem again! We belive with enough water you could use any TP and be just fine! We however still use scotts RV!
Yes, I think with the right amount of water any TP is acceptable! Sitting still they all looked the same but after agitation they all were dissolved just as much as the RV rapid dissolving brands!
Great experiment Kevin! We use the Scott’s 1000 only now after a really bad experience with Charmin! We could not empty our black tank and thought we were going to have to do some major disassembling!!! Lol.. I was surprised that the Charmin passed this test.. Maybe we just used too much paper for #2. 😬
We had the Poo Pyramid once and it was because I neglected my normal pre travel routine for a few moves! We use the Scotts RV and after this experiment we realize we could probably use any TP and be just fine!
We started out spending the money and buying only the RV paper ....... but after i saw a different person doing a comparison i switched to the Angel Soft from Walmart and i've never had a problem with decomposing or plugging my tank and its considerably cheaper. I do periodically rinse out the tank but never had any problems. i also use a liquid sanitizer for the black water tank.
We also have been spending money on RV specific paper now for almost two years! After this video I am sure we could use any type as we move a lot of water through our system weekly and we flush and dump almost every 7 days!
We use regular 2-ply toilet paper in our 5th wheel - living fulltime. Have not had any issues. We always use enough water, and always prep the tank after dumping with around 4-5 gallons (10%). The only situation I would go down to that 1-ply stuff is if I stayed off grid for several weeks and was limiting water usage. I think campgrounds+good maintenance habits = much less concern with this issue.
We use the Scotts RV and it is 2 ply, I was expecting there to be a huge difference between the RV "Rapid Dissolving" vs. the regular household paper! Turns out with agitation they all are basically the same! The Scotts 1000 is basically see through to begin with and we all know you're going to use twice as much if you actually had to!
It matters if you are parked a long time or move often. I use Cottonelle Aloe and is dissolves great after a few days and a drive to the next destination. If you don't dump all the time and drive to next spot then dump when you get there, it's just as good as using a macerator.
We move every 7-10 days and we run a lot of water through our system! We are usually dumping and flushing before every move! For us I think we could use any paper and be fine! If we were stationary I would stick to the RV type TP!
Do you do anything before you use your toilet area I always running about 2 gallons of water and I have a RV supplement I put in before we even use the black tank so there’s water in it to help with already start to dissolve stuff I don’t put anything in a dry tank we set up the camper I put in 2 gallons of water down the toilet and then we go from there and we use an RV toilet paper and we have never had any problems
We live fulltime so we never really stop using it! The day before travel day we dump and flush really good! I then put 10 gallons of water in each tank and add tank treatments! We use the bio geo method which is dawn, borax and happy camper in black tanks, and zep citrus degreaser, borax and happy camper in the grey tanks! We then let the travel day slosh the treatment around and when we arrive we use tanks until full!
63 is what I counted. My husband always comments but looked at me and said you love a challenge this all you make a guess. Thanks for the laugh and interesting results. Would like to see the test with the different tank additives.
It was hard not to laugh when trying to talk about #2 so much! I realized at about day 3 I need to revisit this test and maybe compare what the different tank additives would do!
I started this test wanting to just see what Toilet Paper did better with just water! Now I am thinking a good follow up would be to choose one brand of TP and do the same test with the tank treatments to see how they react and then I can compare the two videos!
This is an interesting experiment. Curious how the enzymes from #2 itself and any tank chemicals would affect the paper. Also, What about any movement say you leave the campsite with the #2 with paper and chemicals in the tank and setup at a second site and go overnight before dumping, even wait until day 3 and have to drive to a dump facility (dry camping the whole time).
It was very interesting! I assumed when they claim rapid dissolving for the RV TP that I would see a significant difference! With agitation they were all basically the same! I am also curious how the tank treatments would affect this but I wanted a baseline on what just water did, because there are so many tank treatments out there to choose from! We normally always dump and flush the day before a move and travel with just basically treated water in the tanks letting them slosh around and clean while moving! But I believe if you had enough water in the tanks and were dry camping you would get great agitation and breakup of the TP while moving in-between camp sites!
@@PavingNewPaths Guess we just conditioned to going to the bathhouse for 2 . For years we camped in tents then a pop up (no cassette toilet). Finally, 8 years go a RV really only because at our age we needed the toilet for when nature calls in the middle of the night.
@@Edwardsjourneywe bought an EV😢with two bathrooms for a reason and we used them both fulltime for 3 years! Proper maintenance and use and they can be used like a home!
We were surprised by the results, and we even did a follow-up video that you might want to check out! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RSY9nnXN66M.html
@@PavingNewPaths The funny thing is, we use less TP with the Charmin than with the "RV" TP. I am thinking Baby Boy's Mama is gonna want that six pack of Cottenel. Have a great day and thank you for the great content!
Good try but there are too many variables to really do a comprehensive test. Good for clicks though! Best info for TP which you fail to mention, as well as many viewers is - SEPTIC SAFE TP - is what all campgrounds require as well as home septic systems. Rest is for comfort!!! 😉 Hope you get lots of clicks!!!!
I realized after about day 3 that I should have added more cups with different test for each brand! There is just so many ways you could try to do this experiment! There are to many different tank treatments out there to try to make it fair! I wanted to see what just water would do and how it dissolved without the aid of tank treatments!
Day 7 you would have a mix of day 1 to day 7. If you have a Macerator Toilet you need to tell people that if they are wrappers and wrap 50 sheets around their hand they cannot flush it as it will bind the pump. Be safe. I couldn't count because every minute some one came in talking to me, guessing 65 number 2s.
There are so many ways to redo this test! Do I add paper every day, do I add tank treatments to see how they affect it! I think I will use this as my control experiment and build upon it for the future test! We don't have a macerator so we are fine!
@@PavingNewPaths Just brought up the macerator since we had one and you left that group of people out of the beginning. I think your test was actually very good it gave people some idea of what happens.
We will let the winners know on Saturday! We feel after this experiment we could probably use any toilet paper and be fine as long as you use plenty of water!
We used the great value for 3 years with 6 people and never had an issue except when we first started and one of my teens flushed a tampon. That was a fun fix. Lmmfao
You definitely aren't wasting your money using the RV toilet paper. Especially if you aren't in the camper for 7 days. Over the course of a weekend you would have big problems with non RV tp.
We live in ours fulltime and run a lot of water through our system weekly! We use scotts RV but feel after the experiment we could use and TP and be fine! We also move frequently, if you were stationary I would stick with RV TP!
Another comment, or suggestion. Consider contacting several of the black tank treatment providers and request samples for a similar test. With the size of your channel now, they may respond and you could then do your test again. Also, if you do this, be sure to mention any of the companies that would not send samples so we can avoid them. I use tank techs and have been happy with it but I think it is expensive. Have not tried Happy Camper because I read it can cause a concrete like build up in the tank if not predesolved.
That is a great Idea! There are so many different tank treatments out there I felt like I wanted to know what just water would do to the TP since the RV type claims to be rapid dissolving! We learned they are all basically the same and no real dissolving happens unless there is agitation! It would be good to expand on this and test how the tank treatments affect the TP and do they actually help break the TP down!
I know the people in the stores were wondering why he all the different brands! I told him they are going to think you had a baddd experience with toilet paper!
Nothing like waking up to some s%&@ talkin'!!!😂 I ask everyone to use the campground facilities for #2 when possible, but treat my tanks with enzyme based products and Dawn, so that when we do use it for #2, it shouldn't be a problem. I have been using RV specific paper, but have been seeing others say that the Costco/Kirkland paper works just as well and may try that. It would be interesting to see the results of that test with an enzyme treatment and Dawn...
We are fulltime #2 people, but we have never had a problem, well not a self-induced problem because we neglected a few pre travel day maintenance procedures! We use the Scotts RV brand and always use lots of water! we run the Bio Geo method, so we have Happy Camper, Borax and Dawn in our black tanks! I too am curious how the tank treatments would affect the breakdown of the toilet paper! Maybe time for a follow up experiment!
