One small correction, the keyfob battery will last 3 years, not the device itself is 1 year, my mistake! The first video review and links to buy the device you can find on my website: rtw-adventures.com/moni-1.html
I love, love your info video's, I started with you doing your cell's, refilling your forks, and many others, now that I lose my motorcycle from theft at a petrol station last week Monday, I know I need a tracker fitted to my new bike, and this video was outstanding. Salute to you from the UK Thanks for a awesome breakdown, as usual! Please stay amazing
I like the battery being independent, because so many of the old alarms constantly flattened batteries. Still like a good solid chain together with multiple locks, but like it. Happy travels
Anything that is wireless can been blocked so no tracker is perfectly safe. I brought my Monimoto from your last review. Never had to use it yet but test it once a month. Works faultlessly. Great content by the way, keep up the good work!
I agree and even said it in the video that nothing is 100% secure but it doesn't mean that we have to leave our bikes absolutely unprotected! Thanks for taking the time Gavin!
Thanks for the review , just got myself a R9T sport ,this will definitely be going on the bike . Ride safe look forward too watching your future travels .😁🇬🇧🏍❤️
Thank you. Watched your review few months ago with an older version, and now this one and decided to purchase this tracker. Also thank you for the discount code. Greetings from Serbia!
I drive a Kymco LIKE. It doesn't have a kick-starter - which is a positive. I have 3 ways my machine is disabled. (1) I inserted a series on/off switch in the starter line; (2) I located a connector that, when opened up, prevents the engine from starting. I don't where the connector is electrically located, I simply opened up the engine compartment and opened up every connector 1 at a time until I found one that that killed the engine; (3) I attached an RFID receiver to the bike, inserted the NORMALLY OPEN contacts in the ignition wire. Although my receiver is under the 'dashboard', any place where it's use is inconspicuous is good. When I approach the bike, the receiver detects my presence and enables the ignition. The switch options (1)(2) are for easy access or somewhere such as the locking glove box, just make sure their operation isn't too obvious. When I am staying in a hotel with outside parking I use the two switches AND thread a stainless steel chain through my rear wheel. It is made of 4 mm chain links. A RFID system (Chinese) costs about $15 (with a couple of FOBS). Don't think this is overkill, few countries are worse than Laos for theft. Your security is time and noise,. Every lock, every chain, every device delays the thief and when sound is added delay is another step to keeping your property.
Hi Palvin, I have being following you for some time and really like your videos. I was looking for a GPS tracker and this review helped me deciding for Monimoto. I live in Mexico. The SIM card that comes with Monimoto does not work outside of Europe or US which is a bit of an issue if you travel internationally. I tried with 3 SIM cards, one Mexican, one Chinese and one Argentinean. Non of them worked. People at Monimoto where very helpful and at the end advised me to return it. I thought you would like to know. Shame, it’s exactly the product I was looking for, they just need to work on sim compatibility.
B Bustin thanks a lot for your comment, good to know, thought about getting a US SIM but I travel to several countries in LATAM and wanted something that works in most countries . If ATT works in most countries, that could be a good fix!
Pavlin, privet !!! Thanks for advice advertising !!! Immediately like !!!! And one question, please. covn-19 pandemia, does not stops your treap on north ..?
Privet Vladimir! Thanks for taking the time! It won't stop my trip. As soon the borders are open I will go. The plan is to stat on the 1st of June but if necessary (not open yet) I will do it in July.
Sounds like a good idea.. Here in the USA many Companies are pushing tracking devices that you must pay a month prescription to use.. Here in the USA they have dropped 3 G Signal now only have 4G signal and are pushing 5G very hard..
All Monimoto devices use a SIM card. In a review, they said it would work with any other SIM. Otherwise, after first two months of free usage you must pay a subscription. The cheapest would be to buy a two year subscription, fo 65 euros, or 39 euros, for one year.
I have invented perfect protection. You have to hide under covers unprotected grenade. 100% efficiency. Yes, they will steal your motorcycle but next day you will read about thieves in newspaper. By the way, you will eliminate thieve's garage. Motorcycle lost? What is insurance for? Just buy brand new one. It's up to you to decide whether it will be a defensive grenade or an offensive grenade. ;-)
Hi Pavlin. Let me ask you about this Monimoto device: Can I use any SIM card from any country I am in? I read somewhere that the SIM card that comes with de device has a 3€/month subscription for all the EU, but, can I put away that SIM card and insert a SIM card from a portuguese or spanish operator? Other problem: For example, there is no roaming agreement between Portugal and Marocco, so if I go to Marocco can I put a maroccan phone operator SIM while I am there? Thank you Pavlin.
A tracker which needs to be limited to a 40days tracking interval? Also „show location on regular update“ needs to be unchecked? I don’t know the device but it sounds a bit like „Dear customer, if you‘re not happy with the battery life of our tracker, just disable all tracking functions and you‘ll be fine“. Not very convincing.
Please please tell me what is the average cost for adventure tour per 1000 kilometers in Asia in Africa in South America including hotel motel food country recuirment petrol etc Please answer
@@motorcycleadventures I like gps tracker, but useless when pro thieves uses gps gsm signal jammer and van. So again, better insurance and stop thinking about motorcycle. Also police is useless they not helps ( in UK) because motorbikes are treated same like bicycles or other less worth valuables. When travelling using only steering lock and disc lock, chains are to heavy.
In the old west america, if your horse was stolen you could hang the thief on the spot when you caught them. Therefore stealing horses didn't happen that often. Good times, imo.
Yes, unfortunately Canadian carriers are way more strict than the rest of the world and our SIM card will only work there for a short time (more suitable for short trips from the USA but not for continuous use inside Canada). We are working to find a fix for this issue though.
@@monimoto I know what you are saying. i tried looking for a similar product and all want a monthly fee but don't want to supply the sim card which adds $20 to the monthly charge. maybe some companies need to lean on the carriers to allow an affordable solution sim card for just this purpose.
Looks like they only sell the Model 6 in the USA service is $3.50 per month first two months Free .. Price is $229.00 USA dollars.. This is supposed to work with North American 2G & 3G .. but my last phone was 3G only and stopped working I had to buy a new 4G phone .. More research needs to be done..
@@monimoto That good to know because my LG G-5 phone stopped working after 1.5 years when they dropped the 3G signal .. I had to buy a new phone.. that works with 4G You would think they would still have a 3-G signal for data devices GPS devices ect.. Also I had to replace my Motorola Bag phone when the FCC made new laws that you can not use an Analog phone anymore. Plus I still have an LG Flip phone that is really strong but I can't use it anymore because it does not have a SIM card.. Also I commented before I was able to find a web site for anything to purchase in the USA.. The first Video I watched was from Romania. @Motorcycle Adventures
What's point of fitting this on your bike if you are telling the hole world about it I mean I don't no you but I bet its London were you live just from your video lock your bike to something not too itself they'll just pull up & through it in the back of a van
@@motorcycleadventures After my bike has been stolen Monimoto was unable to locate the exact location and bike was on the move. It just randomly showed locations which were even 10 minutes old, thieves can get very far in 10 minutes. (Setting was on highest sensitivity) I am very paranoid about theft as they steal bikes a lot. After they just hid it, that means no GPS signal. And I would say 1 hour is more than enough to find the tracker anywhere on the bike as there is not many options as in the car. You can be very creative to hide it but you will find it with the tools if you looking for it. I think a better solution is a subscribed tracker with 24/7 operator monitored service with RF antenna when GPS signal is gone. They can see the speed of the device in real-time and even get police support. You sleep, they watch. With Monimoto if you at work for instance and do not have a phone on you or phone just discharge etc.. etc.. you screwed when they stealing your bike and you do not have a phone on you 24/7. And even Monimoto set itself of without a reason randomly. Discussed this with the company even and from my experience stay away from Monimoto if your bike gets stolen and you want it back.
How much is peace of mind worth to you? If you have an expensive bike, you leave it chained up in a garage. If they break into the garage, cut off the chain, set off the tracker, you will gain enough time to do something. But what? Bike theives
@@motorcycleadventures In the UK, trackers are becoming the norm. As most bikes have built in immobilization it's the only security upgrade worth considering. We all have chains and disc locks, they pass from bike to bike. I like the fact that your tracker is not hard wired and can be hidden more easily than a box of cables. You buy it once and keep it for life!
